Give 'em hell, Demons!- Your first MFC Game/Best MFC Game/Worst MFC Game
A lot of bests too though - for me the 1988 Semi Final at the G against the Pies was magic. Huge crowd, beautiful day, fights before the game started and we led them all day. We were sitting down near the fence and when our bench players ran past to warm up I shouted out to one of them - now I'd don't know if it was Viney, Lovell or Febey (they all had the blonde tipped mullets) but what I do know is that judging by the look I got I called out the wrong name 😂 I had a lot of relos who barracked for the Pies and I was taught to love Melbourne and hate Collingwood. The following week at Waverley where we beat the Blues to enter our first GF since 64 was fantastic as well. Unfortunately I missed the game against the Eagles in the EF as I had a friend's birthday party but there were a few of us who followed Melbourne and when we heard we'd won the game we all went ballistic (as ballistic as a bunch of 6 year olds can get).- Your first MFC Game/Best MFC Game/Worst MFC Game
There are so many worst games 😩 - I remember a game vs Geelong at the G in 89 we kicked 2 goals for the whole game! We beat them a month later at Waverley by 3 points.- Your first MFC Game/Best MFC Game/Worst MFC Game
I went to this game with my now wife just before we started going out. She is a Cats supporter but was pretty nice about the whole thing. I think she just thought I was an [censored] for following this team and she still did until a couple of months ago 🤣- Your favourite music to get you through to the Grand Final
Thanks for these, will check them out. I agree Triple J is unbearable these days (the last couple of decades?) When I do play the radio it is Triple R or PBS although it can depend which show you land on. I'm not a huge fan of indie rock which seems be the predominant genre of rock these days though I'm sure there is still plenty of stuff out there I am yet to discover. No doubt in 10 years I'll hear an album that came out in the last couple of years and think "how have I not heard this before?!"- Your first MFC Game/Best MFC Game/Worst MFC Game
First game I remember being at was round 1, 1988 against Richmond. We flogged them. Best game I attended would have to be the 2000 QF that last quarter was immense and when the siren went I was going ballistic giving it to the Carlton supporters. 1992 at Vic Park would have to be up there as well, Jakovich with a lazy 7 goals after being benched early. 1989 Queens Birthday against the Hawks at Princes Park another memorable one. Queens Birthday against the Pies where Watts kicked the sealer was awesome too (2016?) Round 1 2005 against the Bombers was memorable too as it was the Broadbridge Memorial game after he died the previous summer. Worst - I'll leave out the Neeld era and the 2000 GF as that goes without saying - I think the 92 ANZAC Day game against the Bombers where we were up by 41 points at 3/4 time, kicked the 1st goal of the last quarter and then the Bombers kicked 8 goals straight and won by a point. Some other infamous ones were losing by a goal at Windy Hill when Steven Clark had a shot after the siren from 50 to draw the game and he just fell short after the Bombers supporters had already invaded the field (1991?), and thrashings from the Cats & Pies in early 96 or 97. 2004 & 2005 EF's against the Bombers and Cats were bad too.- Your favourite music to get you through to the Grand Final
- TICKETING: GF vs Bulldogs
Pretty sure it was $230 when I bought it for my son earlier this year- TICKETING: GF vs Bulldogs
If people in vic are transferring their GFGs to people in Perth then it will reduce the number of tickets available for the p2 and p3 members- Adam Cerra
Haha no chance they get Jackson, nice try though- Your favourite music to get you through to the Grand Final
First track off Time Travelling Blues - Blue Snow - give it a listen 👍- Adam Cerra

Apt title and killer track- Your favourite music to get you through to the Grand Final
Haven't heard them but they're on my Spotify now. Did you see Wizard when they came out in 2005-ish? Supercoven and Return Trip were immense. I saw them at the old Green Room twice and went down to Geelong to watch them as well at some small pub with around 10-20 people watching. I reckon the owner was worried the bass was going to bring the place down 🤣- Your favourite music to get you through to the Grand Final
Haven't heard that one will have to give it a run. When I saw Sunn O))) play with Boris the bass almost burst my ear drums haha I don't know if I'm getting old or the music really just isn't that good anymore? Most younger people I know listen to more rap/r&b or electronic music these days which I still don't mind but nothing tops decent rock/metal. I've been told to give King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard a go but haven't got around to it yet On topic, from now until first bounce on Friday it's Dream Until You Die by Martini Martini & the Bone Palace Orchestra. If we lose it will be The World Is Broken by the same band 😂 If we win it's Take Your Skin Off and Dance PS - far better versions of these songs are found on their Live At The Famous Rainbow Hotel CD (which I was there for when they recorded) but it's not available online anywhere.- Melbourne v Geelong 1954 Preliminary Final
Nah this time I reckon we won't make the same mistake and will get all 6 and the record 😉- Sam Weideman re-signs until 2023
It would want to be a good deal for Weid AND he would have to be driving it. He was pretty solid in 2020 and had a stress fracture in his hip which ruined his preseason this year. The guy is clearly a real confidence player, I'd still love to see what Goody and Choco can get out of him next year with a full preseason.- Adam Cerra
It might also mean he wants to come to Vic and Carlton are one of the only clubs with both the capital and the will to get a trade done. Richmond were talked about earlier this year and seem to have the capital I wonder why they've cooled? Or Cerra just doesn't want to go there (unlikely)?- Your favourite music to get you through to the Grand Final
I used to thrash Cradle of Filth when going to the gym, great workout music 🤣 Also used to love other old school punk/metal like Dead Kennedys, Pantera, Lard and the album Jello did with DOA. One of my favourite Doom/Stoner/drone bands is Boris, their albums/EPs Feedbacker and Flood are masterpieces. Early Electric Wizard are a favourite too (hence my avatar) and Time Travelling Blues by Orange Goblin is another great album, it just oozes cool for me with those thick guitar riffs. Loving this thread, I'm always looking for new bands to get in to so will be great to see what others on here are listening to.- ESPN article - Past players inspiring the current team
I listened to the Deebrief interview of Glenn Lovett over the weekend and he was full of praise for Grinter and his role in keeping the past players in touch. He said Grinter texts him on his birthday each year without fail and said "if he's doing that to me then he's doing it for plenty of others as well".- ESPN article - Past players inspiring the current team
Great article thanks for this. The section below warned my heart, this is the kind of stuff that creates a great club culture. "We were all welcomed to join in for the Saturday fitness session with the current guys and we ended up having 30 past players running alongside today's list. All of the current players then joined us for our regular breakfast catch-up, we had 70 odd Melbourne players mixing together after training." While a simple gesture, it's been symbolic of a new Melbourne ethos that has been noted by Grinter. "The biggest change I've noticed with the way the boys have been playing, is their want to play for each other and the broader club, not as individuals. The way they speak after games, it's all about the supporters at home and that connection is really felt from the past players," he says. "The club opened up to past players from far and wide for that session, no matter how many games they'd played. We all really cherished the connection of that day." Current Demon James Harmes has recently joined the Past Players committee, and an AFLW past player will soon be appointed.- Your favourite music to get you through to the Grand Final
