Let’s put it in a corporate sense shall we? MFC forecast a profitable year (IE top 4, commercial coverage for partners, expanding membership & additional external revenue) yet have delivered 14th position, a PR nightmare, our best players looking at options and generally mixed messaging to our membership/partners re culture/brand etc. What organisation wouldn’t see the above and think a review was needed, one which is over and above what we normally do at seasons end. We’ve missed the mark by a wide margin. We are damaged goods again. The best bit is, it’s a win-win. We run a review and it finds problems we can address. Win! We run a review and it says there’s nothing to see here and our [censored] season was an act of god. Win! I think people are misinterpreting a desire for a review with a desire to see certain people burned at the stake. It’s [censored] depressing to read some comments on here. They show how our society has lost the ability to have constructive conversations. We all support the same club and yet people can’t see the other side of a discussion.

This is a slight overreaction. There’s no personalisation. Just an email address. This is akin to receiving a flyer in your letterbox back in the day. I could find out more about you in an hour if I wanted. Just using your Demonland user name as a reference point. Add to that, the enormous amount of information that’s in your Google profile. (You don’t need a Google account to have a profile. They can accurately profile individuals without it)

This. What do you think our commercial partners are thinking with the kitchen on fire, perceived or otherwise, and no leadership from the club? The answer to that is pretty obvious. The “any coverage is good coverage” no longer applies. Corporations don’t like to be associated with organisations that aren’t considered standard bearers. A bit of leadership, a review and some transparency would go a long way.

I think this whole thing started because it was a closed shop to even get nominated for the board. I remember sitting at a function where the current board of the day (2018ish) stated the reason for this was stability. But, the idea of elected officials unopposed for a significant period of time doesn’t sit well with me. As I said, I haven’t supported Peter historically but that doesn’t mean he is wrong in this case. I’d support an external review as I think it will show us where we are going wrong but I also wouldn’t feel super comfortable with him winning a seat on the board. Can’t start fractured.

It’s hard to argue with what he says and I have never supported anything Peter has said or done so far. My partner recently showed me the Benny Gale interview when he took over as CEO of Richmond. This was a person who strived for the best and mapped out the way to get there. A strategic plan is more than stating a few objectives on a whiteboard. We seem to promise a lot at board level and deliver 3/5’s of FA. Least of all any plan and/or strategy. And we do this under the veil of darkness or secrecy. Here is the Gale interview for those who can’t remember:

Farewell Kyah Farris-White
Hopefully Kyah can use the football training lifestyle to get to professional basketball.

I think it’s fair to say that some of those influential groups mirror what you see on Demonland. Some are ‘company guys’ who tow the line but there are plenty of people who are pushing for a review and operational change. Im tipping an interesting next few months for the entire club.

Yes I was there. She didn’t say anything of substance. Lots of motherhood statements and looking forward to 2025. She kept to her little group of friends most of the night as did Pert. It was an awful event really. The mood around the club is terrible.

Darren Bennett. “Great Stuff at Windy Hill”
I was supposed to be there but my older brothers wouldn’t take as they were going with all of their Essendon mates and didn’t want me there. How good was Ricky Jackson back in the day?!!! Another thread for another time. Time to head off to the G.

The board and the king makers that surround it need a good kick up the clacker. Roffey is one of those that needs a kick. I was pleasantly surprised to see some of the changes that Peter wanted made. Digital voting is a must these days…

Get to the ‘G!
Presidents Function tomorrow night. I’ll be interested in the chatter from some of our club leaders. Expecting some strong statements to say the least

Darren Bennett. “Great Stuff at Windy Hill”
Loved Billy. Gave me plenty of highlights as a youngster. I think in the 1990 EF against the Hawks he kicked a goal on the line. Full barrel. Tried to kick it out of the stadium. He came to my high school to discuss placements in US college’s as punters. About 9 of us tried with 1 successfully applicant. He was super nice. Instantly stopped following the Raiders when he started at the Chargers.

Greg Stafford departs Melbourne
He came to the club at (one of) its lowest points and helped deliver a Premiership. Thanks Staff!

Jack Viney Extends Contract Until 2028
He’s not leaving. If he wants to add some years to his current deal so be it. He deserves it.

POSTGAME: Rd 23 vs Gold Coast
Very pleasing win. Shocking past couple of weeks for everyone involved with the Dees, including supporters. Partied a bit too hard last night post match. Worth it though. The senior guys really stood up which I loved. That said more to me than Pert’s interview or the statement we released early in the week. Taking ownership of the club by players will solve a lot and see us bounce back next year. I was always optimistic that we would have a better 25 than 24 and there are enough sprouts in the garden to make me think we can have sustained success for the next 36 months.

CASEY: Rd 21 vs Gold Coast Suns
Re K Brown. He’s working on becoming more damaging by foot. IE taking the riskier option. Haven’t watched the game but presumably that could be impacting his DE%

The Watch with Ben Gibson | Tom Morris
He was pushed. We weren’t considering the remainder of his contract and any RFA type chats. We didn’t want him.

The Watch with Ben Gibson | Tom Morris
Just makes it worse really. Requested a trade, knocked back and now leaked. As I said before, he must be happy with the club squirming. Hmmmmmmmmmm…..

The Watch with Ben Gibson | Tom Morris
I haven’t disagreed with what he is reporting. I do understand why people wouldn’t like him though and not trust him.

Who controlling the narrative here? The club? They have said all they can publicly and are on the back foot so not them. The media? They are reacting to some information that was fed to them. They aren’t going to retract unless Petracca or his agent come out and tell their version of events. So the media isn’t really controlling the narrative either. The player/people who have fed the information to the media and can give their version of events at any time but are yet to? So the only question is; are Petracca and his team happy with the narrative and watching the club squirm? Maybe.

Sometimes the best trades are the ones you don’t make.

The Watch with Ben Gibson | Tom Morris
I don’t think people would be so anti Morris if he didn’t have a long list of priors.

Every article/video/podcast that Morris hosts provides him income. Best to ignore.
