  1. It's plainly obvious I disagree with this, 'LDvC'. Thats why I do it. Sometimes players get quite comfortable, in the knowledge they are feeling the love of supporters (perceptions)... but quite possibly the comfortable player is under-performing, yet feel in themselves, that they are doing well. Many get ahead of themselves, in thoughts, they are better than what they're delivering... especially kids that have been taught they can do no wrong. the apple of their private mentors eyes. These same types leave a lot left behind, (left in the tank).... Watts his face, comes immediately to mind. Pulling the rug from under these types, needs to be done to improve the reality. And the sooner it happens, the better the result. Because false praise, builds layer on layer in their minds... hallting their development. In a way, this is closely linked to why Mfc has a very high fail-rate in our past, with top level draft recruits. We either go one way or the other.... with players of high expectations. We put then on a pedestal... or we Harass them negatively, from the get-go.. Neither of these methods are balanced. The kids should be placed under some pressure from their coach, from the start. And they also should have support within the club, from team manager and others within the club... who can counsel them around their footy, and life situations. The Kids should do their time at the start... in relative anonymity... and without any Fan-Fare. The worst we can do... is pump them up like a Good-Year blimp. They should be left to develop in the quiet of early-morning games, where few 'off-field' are watching them. and reporting on them. This is what we have Lost, with no Club U-19's competitions, any longer.
  2. If this were to cost a team hopeful of finals, miss out... then the Competition, is-a-Farce.
  3. Un-Sociable SchmO... See, un-sociable wins again. over Fair.
  4. Never thought of this before... around local umpires in a smallish home City like Perth. Now IF the umpires were too fair... causing the local teams to lose more... how would those Local umpires get along during their Weekdays ? I reckon they would be under enormous pressure living in the vicinity of unhappy local footy supporters. Shallow & cheapskate thinking by the AFL.... Or is IT... on the other Hand... do the AFL want the local Perth people, to have a strong Umpiring advantage, over there ? .
  5. Yeah, it took me awhile, before I got it. I was thinking Business abbreviations, not footy... for some reason.
  6. It's just another appendage of the 'G' grounds... essentialy the Mcc. More of the same, within Apron-Strings reach of mother. There is one thing I will say for that ProPosal, at Yarra park... it has the East Melbourne frontage, which would allow decent Lease/rental arrangements of the office spaces, not being used by the Mfc... so anOther source of income, from the multi story deevelopment... and very cheap land acquisition, I would imagine... as it's really buying Air space. But again, are they ( PJ & Board ), thinking Primarily of acquiring money first and foremost... or of growing the grass roots of the club... and of Diversifying this clubs Deemographics, so it has a broad reach to all areas of our Melbourne populous. The Train-Traffic thru Richmond would have to be maybe 10 fold, that of Jolymont station. That is a far bigger passing trade... than that of the the, InDeecent Proposal. So money/status grab... Or People and growth ProPosal... growing the clubs base broader, wider. And in doing so, a Healthier club into the future. .
  7. I think its a bit of everything, 'Pts'. Technique... Yips... And also our conservativeness in footy. Stay with me. Our 'conservativeness in football', being 'too-kind'... I think leads to us Not going in for the ' Kill '... hence when we are leading/winning, most times, its not by much... and so when the opposition threaten again, We are back feeling under pressure, because we haven't put them away... killed them off. So each time that happens, our boys are forever kicking for goal under pressure.... instead of being more 'run-of-the-mill', with our scoring. ... always being under pressure creates stressful habits, that live on... in all of us, not just the players, and 'in-turn', this also builds onto the MfcSS... which then comes around again for our players. They sense the fear/apprehension from Us in the crowd, as they kick for goal. .
  8. Why.... If Gawn, stood up for himself more, our side would all walk taller. It shouldn't be, for all our players to stickup for one, who doesn't stick up for himself...... They should all Fly the Flag... and stick up for one another. It's an indictment, that Max is not more aggressive, on field. .
  9. He needs to get Toddy's old headband from him, I reckon.
  10. target them.? or drive them forward.?
  11. adding onto this theme... I think THE most important thing Our club will ever do..... is to remove our Board Committee meetings out of the Mcc/Mcg..... Outside to somewhere we can all socialize together in smart casual street clothes. ... so all Mfc members can have a chance to get to Know those who may one day nominate for a directorship of the Mfc. This way we all can know who the nominees are and what we think of the types and If we think they know footy and business etc. These nominations/Nominees Should NOT happen from within the walls of the Mcc.... but from within the walls of the Mfc.!!!
  12. Well his kicking........ fail. His bulk and fitness...... fail His workrate. better than 1st couple of 2019 games... still a fail. .... being pedantic doesn't suit you, 'LH'. So your happy with how Christian's Traccing, then.?
  13. Well it, HE seems to be working hard. its going to plan, 'LT'.
  14. 'Nuances'... would have been that the club already new well prior to finals that We would need to tweak the gamestyle, looking to 2019... but simply don't have the players required to push the new game style, Yet.... running with kicking skills. I want to put it out there, that at early stages of last year, word was we were after Gaff... but something changed around mid season, (ANB & Harmes ???), and all that talk dried up and then we started to look to a big Defender.... and we went for speed in the draft... small types, plus & a Mid with some speed. Now it seems, we Have to get those run and carry types of players to add to our mix... so any changes to gamestyle can be carried out. So the coaches would have reviewed over and over that game but just not the players as we were going to change things anyway. They wouldn't want to reinforce any negatives into our players heads Re that game... as the clubs culture is still malleable and forming, like new bone. They culture of winning is not set hard, and will take quite awhile. We only started 'winning-ways', in the back half of last year. So Our culture is still forming and still growing... and will take some years until we get it anywhere near, say the Hawks culture and club self-belief. We have a long way to go. ... Just as the Hawks did... back in the 70's... They came from perennial losers... grew into a family club, and proud Winners. a Very Happy team.
  15. I think he's got the talent inside him, but I think he's possibly immature... just a boy still, in his ways. I think his commitment and endeavor is limited at the moment. Dare I say, he might be one of those who responds after a big personal loss... like getting shifted on. See the antithesis... Re Lockhart, who has had to work and work, to prove he's worthy. Ii hope that is not what it takes.
  16. Not just his kicking... I think he has been let off most things. Just look as his condition, after all these seasons. We've allowed him to be amateur like in almost every way seemingly. What has he developed in his time with us, apart from getting heavier ?
  17. Our directors... recommended from the North, over the decades, have put us into this position..... because they could never see any other ideal of an outside home base... because they are all In-Love with the MCG, and the Mcc_ They're whole concept is based on a Love of the Mcc, first & foremost... and trying to make Melbourne-great again, as an 'appendage' of the Mcc. Trying this over and over again... IS the reason this club has slowly died on the vine. The Mcc has never given this footy club its Needs. but kept it as some-sort of doorman, into the Mcc....
  18. I hadn't even considered that. ? ... actually because the player was totally focused to Mark the ball
  19. "rubbish"_ OK, fair enough... but his application is off, and his focus is off, and is in very average form... creating more mistakes than he normally would. So He is out of form, and needs to be dropped. hows that ? does that suit your repertoire ?
  20. #15 Angus Hanrahan Starting on the wing, the top—ager showcased his signature class and polish but also his two-way running in another strong performance. Finishing with 27 disposals and nine marks, perhaps the most telling stats for Hanrahan was his four rebounds and six inside 50s, highlighting a willingness to work both ways for the Dragons. Kicked a show-stopping goal on his opposite foot from the boundary and would’ve had a day out had he taken two opportunities running into the goals in the second and last quarters. Was a class above in the first half and was the leading disposal winner at the main break but drifted out early in the 4th when the game was in the balance. Sound performance from the wingman and is building a strong case to be selected in the mid-season/end of season draft. #5 Ryan Byrnes The zippy midfielder continued his strong form, finishing with a team-high 28 disposals and five inside 50s. Byrnes trademark explosive burst out of the stoppage was on show all day, easily manoeuvring his way past his Eastern opponents and driving the ball long inside 50. Used the ball well when others let themselves down in this department and never stopped trying. Byrnes looks a well-rounded prospect, who covers the ground well and is adept at winning the ball from the inside of the contest and utilising his speed to run and carry the ball. Overall was outstanding for the Dragons and was just about their best player. #13 Jay Rantall Best player on the ground. Key in the Rebels moving the ball effectively out of the backline and midfield and one of the few players who wanted to take the game on and make the play instead of just kicking to a pack. His link up run and intelligent handballing were extremely impressive, and broke the game open. Good overhead, good below his knees, and hit most of his targets on the day. 10/10 game. Australian basketballer Jay Rantall among Hampden footballers chasing TAC Cup spot in 2019 https://www.standard.net.au/story/5771191/aussie-basketballer-chasing-a-kick-of-the-sherrin-photos-video/ MULTI-TALENTED teenager Jay Rantall is throwing himself into TAC Cup pre-season with Greater Western Victoria Rebels. The South Warrnambool footballer is vying for a spot as a top-age player in 2019 after spending most of this year dedicating himself to basketball. Rantall, 17, represented Australia in basketball at the FIBA Under 17 World Cup in July, donning the green and gold jersey as a shooting guard. South Warrnambool footballer Jay Rantall collects 37 disposals for NAB League side GWV Rebels https://www.standard.net.au/story/6119214/rebels-rantall-racks-up-touches/ SOUTH Warrnambool footballer Jay Rantall remains one of the NAB League's in-form players. The midfielder collected a game-high 37 disposals in the Greater Western Victoria Rebels' 14.10 (94) to 9.8 (62) loss to Northern Knights at Ballarat's Mars Stadium on Sunday. Rantall, 17, had 13 kicks and 24 handballs. The former Australian junior basketballer has averaged 25 possessions across his six games this season after choosing to focus on football.
  21. #18 Mitch Riordan Over-ager Riordan has built a good case to be picked up in the mid-season draft after an interrupted top-age year, and was damaging from stoppages around the ground in this outing. Riordan’s run from congestion was great to watch, with an explosive first five steps allowing him to break forward quickly and dispose of the ball effectively in more space, while also flicking out handballs well. Repeat efforts in-close helped him tally his 25 disposals, including five clearances, but Riordan also contributed well in handball chains – using his pace to good effect. https://afl.draftcentral.com.au/tag/cody-hirst/ #17 Cody Hirst The smart wingman ran hard all day, with most of his 31 disposals being won in the Eastern back half (six rebounds). The impressive midfielder possesses clean hands and skills, always finding a target by foot even when there seemingly is no option. On a day where most players opted to kick it long down the line or bomb it inside 50, Hirst’s clever ball use stood out. Covers the ground with ease and loves to take a bounce. Hirst had a huge last quarter and willed his team over the line.
  22. No, we don't target Mummy... we play as we should be... vigorously at every GWS player, with a bruising attack at ball and man..
  23. I think you believe to much in what your read in papers or in metered out in-house comments. I do not believe May was instructed to come back in a written prepared state of fitness. IMO, he came back as he thought would be required as he understood it. I wonder if lack of de-script instructions, was deliberate. Many others came back underdone, and I reckon the club new, or expected we would be slow off the mark with so many pre-season Opps. and the resulting low levels of fitness prep'. Now, what wasn't told to us, was the relationship breakdown May was undergoing... maybe some how related to the move Sth.? Mays communication with the supporters was frank and accurate at the start of proceeding with the club... This suggests some naivety to the requirements, from the club. So I think, all-in-all, May has been open, honest, and forthright with us.
  24. No, we don't target Mummy... we play as we should be... vigorously at every GWS player, with a bruising attack at ball and man..
  25. When our players saw Smith stunned on the ground, obviously from a head hit to the ground which they all saw... there should to have been a push & shove moment from our boys... right or wrong, you just don't let these things go-by un-protested, vigorously. The vigor makes the umpires have to respond... and when a player layes motionless on the ground, there isn't a lot of directions they can go. But it makes them re-apprise their initial thinking. I reckon they may well have changed the initial decision, of a free to Jetta. .
