  1. So very sorry for Brad & his families. I've been stuck for words, stunned. I didn't even recall Green'y was married... and kids as well. Just ah, what a loss. I don't know how anyone can... It would be tough to even carry on. I guess, the purpose in this is the Kids, that/they gives one the strength, to maintain momentum.
  2. I agree I can see Frost pinch-hitting as a defensive forward, under the right circumstances.
  3. For our best defence... I'd like you to slot 'Hore' Or 'Lever' onto a flank.. and push Salem up to Wing. He can run defensive cover from the Wing position, covering, sweeping. & delivering.
  4. No, we don't need Cameron that much. We need flankers of quality, in all 4 corners of our team sheet. and the Pivot... this is where we need class. Class we don't have Yet. the Bartels, the Black's, the Lappin's, the Voss's, the Stevie J's, dare i say, the Toby Green's ? ... remember when Roos sounded out our club, about a young Toby Green, when he had that altercation as a young fella, at a hotel in Melbourne.?
  5. I agree with you Mono. ... especially for this club... which has not had that base, as a solid foundation, for decades. The Hawks already built ontop of they're 80's teams tough foundations.. and evolved off that base. So Yes, I think we should have our basic instinct as being hard at the contest... and find/recruit skilled players from within this hardened mold of players, because we must build in which we are perennially lacking. # Foundations : genune toughness, not feux. (see Hodge) # Structure : add skilled speed & clever # Roof : then add more youth, again following the above
  6. That's an intense argument, 'BM'r.
  7. I blame Pert for us not getting the Old Olympic swimming centre as our baby. His pertinence, is just a bridge too far, for me. He's to blame, for us not having a Home Base... and he's been sent to us, as his Penance.
  8. Or was He, & We... doing the AFL a favour (bidding), that they required of us ? relieving the woods of him ? He was a runner of some ability. but too many distractions.
  9. But he might offend the kings of the North.? Red. He might give someone 'the bird'... or worse, that two fingered job.
  10. Who would we chase for a running player ? Coniglio or Whitfield.. I reckon I would go Coniglio 1st... as we need leadership, and he has leadership already in his repertoire.
  11. And good is not always 'good'... sometimes Bad... is Great. Who here would not draft a young Dermie, or Lockett, if they appeared before us this year ?
  12. I'd wait, until after Darwin. Bring in Lever and Preuss, the following week... if they are both fit and perform well. Its time Preussy 'Starred'... in the VFL, instead of 'doing well'.
  13. Haha Ha, not 'dc'... dat was Dr know... he woz the soappositry of ore noledges, and fiter of eavils.
  14. ... so we should go with Weideman and tSmith as our talls... as both will be better at ground level than Preuss'y, in these conditions... unless they rest Maxy, which they won't.
  15. Yes, we did... Yes, you did... 'cough'. say 3 hail Mary's, Daisy. and don't tell father.! I checked trying to find that exact point not assuming. But I fell into the trap, of not reading 'all' your post.
  16. 26c, 47% humidity, Dry, 13kph wind, It doesn't sound like a sweat box... how slippery would it be in Darwin... at 26c & 47% humid ?
  17. Ah, 'the Alice'... I didn't read the first part of your post, properly.
  18. Watts was a waste of space at our place and took us for a ride, as he's done over there. Watts is about watts. and the rest can fest'r... C'n it time and again, and we are stronger since his time. I'm glad Lewis is with us, even if he came from the Brown and Gold. He's become a 300 gamer, with the Dees. .
  19. Hmn, mild Daisy. Low humidity. no wind. Maybe Preuss could play ??? But I think Weide's skills could get him in, to play alongside tSmith.?
  20. I'm not prepared to call on Maynard yet... as I have learnt not too write-off players, until having another good look at their games when they're traveling healthy. Our inside 1st touch players are looking fragile atmo. Viney, Jones... so, I wouldn't jump too quick on big-bodied Maynard. Many here have had Egg all over them, Re ANB a few years back, and also AVB. Even If it was only for a couple of years each... they both helped us up the ladder, and into a finals series. And i sense the same will be said of JKH, in a few years.
  21. Sorry. Dunkley's thread...
  22. Quick ball use is always a good thing, IF you can do it well. Earlier this season we got corralled trying to use the Hot-Potato against the Cats?? and others, just as we did 3 yrs ago playing the Saints under Edi'shat. When Hickey troubled Max.? Still I'll watch with interest, on Free-to-Air
  23. Proved? in your mind maybe.
  24. Yeah, I was referring to the times when we flick it off to one another, failing to get it outside the corral. I think when we handle the ball well, we don't seem to be in so tight-together. The hot-potato, I reckon is a worry, because we get anxious as-a club Nature... have done for decades, that I've seen. When we're anxious & under pressure, we tend to over-use the footy. coughing it up. So this rapid fire handball, is sort of against our weaker nature ??? I think it will take a lot for US, to conquer this play.
  25. Agreed. OMc has just turned 23Yrs. He will start to fill out soon. I think a couple of seasons at Casey as a defender, can help him develop further... as he came in very young, which might have stymied his defensive 'craft'. 'May', will be good for 3+ Years... saving injury. ... there Ya go. I fitted in one of those recent 'funky' words. How did that sound.. .
