  1. I think we can cover Gaffs skills, more than May's. I think Harmes improvement, and Spargo, Fritta, etc, we might have lost some interest in Gaff, which we might have had for him during 2017... Salary cap spent elsewhere, I presume. I'm very happy with how we are recruiting, over the past few years. and still happy, agreeing with all the outs... and Ins. Now we are slowly becoming a hardened tough unit of men... only a couple yet to show they are men... yet.
  2. and bash/crash Preussy. I think his aggression/hurt factor, will be the missing link for our talls... I hope he plays with a bit of mongrel out onto the Mcg... hurt the opposition, leave em bruised and hunched over. Up forward, I don't expect him to dominate the marking, more than any others around, but I hope he can palm the ball away to our smalls advantage. bring it to their areas. .
  3. possibly good reason, chook ? I'm biased about RobbieF.
  4. And that storytelling was very important between follow supporters of any team persuasion... it helped fans connect with one another. A really Aussie way of attending the Footy. bring it on.
  5. I much prefer recruiting May over Gaff, lets say.
  6. They're coming out early. selling fools gold. to sell fools media. . Fugazi.
  7. teach your boy to cry freely, to be able to cry when needed... to be able to express his anger in words, to be allowed to spout off if necessary, and then to sit down and rationalise/discuss after... so he can learn he has a pressure relief valve, built in. ... parents Must learn to stop taking that pressure relief valve away from their children......... kids have to learn the freedom of expression. Never be embarrassed by your son... never... life is learning, and much more important than your status, or your fear of other peoples thoughts. ... putting things into words,,, is the start of communication, and of learning. remove the rant and the scream for support... at your own Peril. .remove his fear of hi manhood and of showing and sharing his emotions... 'fear of emotions'... as they say, the nut doesn't fall far from the tree. He will have, 'intuitively', his parents fears built in, to a large extent... 'fear' is the devil. and are the chains. Help him to undo those fears he has inherited, early on. Have no fear of anything... but some anxiety is good. = crossing roads. = respect for danger but NOT Fear.
  8. Well after 30+ yrs of therapy... and finally growing bold enough to speak my mind, and say what I think about issues, some people still try to take my voice away... from my rights. Maybe they harbour the old mindset of shut-up and keep a stiff upper lip. I can say, that 'stiff upper-lip' has a lot of lives to answer for. As does the shut-up persuasion of our society. Lets see what the just shut-up attitude has allowed to transgress us. Pedophilia in churches. corruption in high places sucj as corporate golden handshakes. including banks and large multi nationals. non disclosure of hazardous toxic substances.(cigarettes) (asbestos) etc. Pollution accidents/leaks into public areas and not so public environments. (bhopal) etc. Bullying... Domestic abuse/violence. (by both genders). The list goes on... because of this 'politically-correct', keep your lips sipped I was abused and bullied mentally tortured by my older sister as a regular behaviour,,, and when I eventually fought back when a bit older, I was the one who got berated. The damage done was lifelong. to my self esteem, my self worth, my libido crushed, I now travel thew earth as an A sexual. And still get mistreated regularly, because I have grown up in life, learning a different set of social cues. I do not understand the social hints and subtleties, and end up receiving dirty looks from individuals who were not so long ago showing smiles and warmth. The damage of bullying is seen as 'a too-hard basket' for so long... because teachers and schools do not want to offend parents of aggressors. ................................. IF... the words were spoken, instead of dirty looks and other physical expressions, I would read the message and be able to address the circumstances, but people are so cowardly they won't say what they think... but are too ready to talk behind backs, and give off their assumptions to 3rd parties, and give off dirty looks designed to hurt.
  9. I don't think there are many Greenies, if any... as home owners in East Melbourne, 'OD'.
  10. Napkins are the trick OD... napkins, for dribblin'. Aas long as you have your teeth OD... you can put out a Demon smile, and chant. ?
  11. Yep in the Western World. Life has been turned around, so its about money, rather than about living it.
  12. I think he said 70,000 members swyl... that is a lot of growth YET, before he hops off our lowly perch.
  13. Yes LH.. my post wasn't aimed at the current Footy management... and club Management. Which I think is doing a ballsy job, so far. ... might be a postcode.
  14. cheers OD.... its another of mine.
  15. We are MELBOURNE... is as bad as "We are Carlton, and F#%^^ the rest. It has the same thin division line between arrogance and failure... as the Blues suffered from under Elliot... eventually sent them into a tail-spin they have not yet recovered from. The danger is we isolate ourselves as blue blooded toffs... distancing ourselves from the every day footy supporter out in the burbs. Norm Smith would be churning in his grave, with any arrogance about the club.
  16. Not much. Rum and Mushroom, or other vegetarian ice cream, I imagine would do the trick. Point is, he looks wasted. Head on girlfriends lap. In his first preseason with his hometown club. I like Jesse... and feel for him, but this isn't the way forward for him, his club, and his footy career.
  17. We at Melbourne are not so good in turning our young elite recruits into top flight players. . see 'Trapper', and many many others since him. IMO we accord them way too high a profile, in social forums... allowing them to drink their own cool-aid when out in social gatherings, amongst their peer social groups. YET, of our other not so shiny talents... most do very well in their efforts to grow as players, and as people. > see Jonesy. This club has a habit of drowning its teenage elite recruits, 'in-self'.
  18. My comment is about looking to the future development of Austin. I don't think we will play the 2 senior rucks in every AFL match. Austin, I think, will be a 3 Year at least, development. I see him sharing duties in some VFL games with Preussy.
  19. This is exactly why we have to get back to being an open door club, welcoming everyone... In Jimma's wishes, cut the stuffy out when at footy and be humans again... leave the 'toffiness' out of the club. Be a welcoming club to all levels, where all can roll sleeves up to elbows and be equals in arms.
  20. Also, I think If/When at Casey, he will rotate spots with Austin.
  21. Well Hogan wasn't any good when locked in under the long bomb... Jesse needed to roam in space. Preuss will be very good for, 'deeFlea' department. .
  22. Hah, 'the Old camera in the streetlamp trick'... hey 'IT'...
  23. Here is a Footywire page relevant to Weight of players... showing both our rucks at the top. Followed by some Macks and May's... and other surprises as well. looksee https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/tp-melbourne-demons?year=2019&sby=8
  24. Majak... I hope you recover well, and see a brighter future for yourself and your loved ones. I like and respect you... and I know life can be pretty tough to take at times. I hope your footy isn't part of the problem as sport can be a great uplifting thing. ... anyway, If you here about our Demonland thread in your support, I hope it helps to lift a smile upon your dial. ? Here's to you kid, and your loved ones as well.
