  1. Doesn't excite me. Think we have enough options on our list for midfield depth and will likely draft a few more anyway. When it comes to a DFA, personally I think we should focus on an area we could use some cover in, which for me is either a small defender (eg Nathan Wright or Aaron Mullett) or a tall forward (haven't seen many options yet). So for me, I don't see Sheridan fitting a need.
  2. Wouldn't put a line through him, but he needs a good summer. Was very disapointing in the 2017/18 summer.
  3. Hey LH. Nope haven't seen anything official myself. Just heard it from them on the Casey B&F Night.
  4. Agree WJ, and it's even more odd given no comments have been made since the tests themselves have been played. Langer lost me the moment that squad was named. I can't remember an Australian Squad being named with so many bizzare selections. Siddle ahead of Tremain, Doggett ahead of a wrist spinner like Swepson, Nesser over Stoinis, Labuschange over Maxwell and Finch over who would have been my left field selection to captain for the next 2 years and bat at 5, Cameron White. The Aussies showed some fight in the first test, and the performances of Finch & Labuschange exceeded my extremely low expectations (how two guys with first class batting averages in the mid 30's have made our XI I don't know??). But we had to much of the same. Marsh's fail, batting collapses, bowling left to too few. To make atters matters worse, with the way our summer is structured this year with the ODI's being mixed amongst the tests, some players like Maxwell will only be able to play one Shield match for e entire summer, even f he were to miss test selection (round of Shield matches starting 27 Nov). Lets not even get into the fact Khawaja's now likely to miss the summer. For me, this is the summer/time to finally say enough is enough. We already did it with Smith/Warner with what happened in South Africa, well now is the time to also do it with the wishy washy Marsh bro's despite the absences of Smith, Warner, Khawaja & Bancroft. For mine, I'd like to see our XI for the First Test against India to look something like; Aaron Finch (did enough in the UAE) Matt Renshaw Kurtis Patterson (may as well play him. NSW never shut up about him) Travis Head Glenn Maxwell Marcus Stoinis +Tim Paine* Pat Cummins Mitchell Starc Nathan Lyon Josh Hazlewood I don't expect Langer to drop his WA love children Marsh bros. But lets use this summer to stop the rot. Hope to win one test v India, series v Sri Lanka and hopefully set ourselves up for the Ashes. Keep an eye out for Will Pucovski from Victoria also. Only 20, averaging 52 after 7 First Class games and made a double ton in the opening round of the Shield. Finally just for formalities sake, think our ODI XI should look something like. Aaron Finch D'Arcy Short +Tim Paine Travis Head Chris Lynn Glenn Maxwell Marcus Stoinis Ashton Agar Mitchell Starc Kane Richardson Josh Hazlewood
  5. Agree re Lamb/Bugg. It also doesn't make sense given Bugg is better then Lamb. According to the two men themselves, Keilty and Smith are both staying on the rookie list.
  6. I thought it was a broken leg and he was available for selection again late in the season? But I could be wrong.
  7. Nathan Wright (St Kilda) or Aaron Mullett (Nth Melb/Carlton) as potential cover as small defender in case Jetta were to get injured. Or if we were more interested in cover for key forwards then Aaron Black (Nth Melb/Geelong) or Ryan Schoenmakers (Hawthorn) who I believe hasn't signed are our best options IMO.
  8. Agree re Port. I had them 12th and think they are likely to be out of the 8 for awhile. Get where you're coming from with Hawthorn also. I think they've topped up just enough for one more finals run (hence my prediction for 8th). But with retirements likely to come for Roughead, Burgoyne, Birchall, Puopolo, Frawley, Stratton & McEvoy by the end of 2020, I think a significant cliff is coming fast for Hawthorn!
  9. 1. Melbourne (this is the year!) 2. Collingwood 3. West Coast 4. Richmond 5. Essendon 6. Adelaide 7. Geelong 8. Hawthorn 9. GWS (the era is over) 10. North Melbourne 11. Sydney 12. Port Adelaide 13. Brisbane 14. Fremantle 15. Carlton 16. Western Bulldogs 17. St Kilda 18. Gold Coast
  10. 1. VACANT 12. Draftee (Potentially Sam Sturt) 16. Steven May (1 better then his 17 at GC) 21. Draftee (Potentially Jay Lockhart. Think we've had a Tassie HBF in 21 before....) 23. VACANT 27. Kade Kolodjashnij (1 better then his 28 he initially wore at the Suns) 32. Draftee (Potentially Toby Bedford) 34. DFA recruit (Potentially Nathan Wright, wore this no at St Kilda) 37. Braydon Preuss (like our 2 main rucks in 11 & 37) 40. Draftee (Potentially Mason Shaw) 41. Rookie Draftee (Potentially Corey Wagner, wore this no at Nth Melb) 43. VACANT 46. Guy Walker (Max Walker debuted in this no) 47. VACANT 48. VACANT 49. VACANT 50. Austin Bradtke (same no Mark wore)
  11. We're essentially in agreement then, as that too is also my point. While some clubs/people may rate a certain player (Lockhart for example) around Pick 60, us and some other clubs may see him around Pick 25. What I do know is that Rawlings rates him very highly. You're thinking of Hutchins.
  12. You may well be right. Time will tell I guess.
  13. Please feel free to list all the experts who had Fritsch in the top 40. I mean you're welcome to shoot from the hip like that, but it works better if you have something to back it up.
  14. As I said, we could look to take Lockhart as early as 28, but it could be later. Rating mature age draft prospects is all in the eye of the beholder. As for Fritsch, Cal Twomey didn't have him in his top 30, Kevin Sheehan in his top 40 or Knightmare in his top 50. So not sure who who you were referring to who ranked Fritsch up higher. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-11-22/callum-twomeys-2017-phantom-draft http://www.nmfc.com.au/news/2017-11-22/draft-sheehans-top-40 https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/knightmares-2017-draft-almanac.1161261/
  15. You never know where the mature age state players will fall. I don't think any experts had Fritsch in the top 40 last year.
  16. Still think we're a good chance of taking Jay in the national draft, just a question of where? We'll take the best kid at Pick 23, but we could take Jay anywhere from Pick 28 onwards. I'll be suprised if he isn't a Demon in 2019.
  17. He's got a good initial 2m or so. After that his pace is just average.
  18. Good thread that I think the majority have misunderstood. Tom McDonald & Weideman will clearly be the two key pillars in the senior team, but after that the only players we have in reserve for our key forwards are Tim Smith. In the 2018 season we had Weideman, Pedersen & Smith as reserve, so we need to recruit at least one key forward option in the draft or as a DFA. Best option in the draft with our pick 65 for me would be Mason Shaw out of the WAFL. 24 I think and has kicked over 140 goals in the last 3 years combined. Can also pinch hit in the ruck. As for a potential DFA, I haven't seen anyone that's jumped out at me yet apart from maybe Aaron Black. But we may be able to convince an uncontracted player to refuse a deal in front of them and then be delisted for us to pounce on. Someone like James Stewart from Essendon or even Menzel at Geelong who at a pinch you could play as an undersized key forward?
  19. Nathan Wright as back up in the event Nevill were to get injured. We need another small defender in the squad.
  20. Posted this in the Hogan thread: HOW TOMORROW WILL PLAY OUT: Brisbane trade Beams, Pick 32 & 55 to Collingwood for Pick 18 & Future 1st Rd Pick. Brisbane trade Pick 5 & 18 to Melbourne. Melbourne trade Hogan & Pick 36 to Fremantle. Fremantle trade Neale & Pick 30 to Brisbane Melbourne trade Pick 5 & Future 3rd Rd Pick to Gold Coast for May & KK This means Bellend can trade Pick 11 & 23 to GWS for Lobb & Pick 14. West Coast trade Picks 20 & 22 to GWS for Picks 11 & 47 West Coast trade Pick 11 to Geelong for Kelly. Bombers trade Pick 9 & Future 2nd Rd Pick to GWS for Shiel & Future 4th Rd Pick ($cully trade). Am I missing anything/anyone???
  21. Reckon Bulldogs Pick 7 is as high as they'll get. Suns will be happy with 2, 3 & 5, Carlton wont trade 1, Saints want one of the Kings, so wont trade 4 and Port have 6. Nothing more to see....
  22. Can't go past a Monte Carlo. Oldy but a goody! Oh and Jordan Roughead traded from Bulldogs to Collingwood for Pick 57. Dogs to refuse to trade Marcus Adams.
  23. HOW TOMORROW WILL PLAY OUT: Brisbane trade Beams, Pick 32 & 55 to Collingwood for Pick 18 & Future 1st Rd Pick. Brisbane trade Pick 5 & 18 to Melbourne. Fremantle trade Neale & Pick 30 to Brisbane Melbourne trade Pick 5 & Future 3rd Rd Pick to Gold Coast for May & KK This means Bellend can trade Pick 11 & 23 to GWS for Lobb & Pick 14. 24. Cleary is misquoting Cameron. All Cameron said is that May's open to come to Melbourne (city) and his suitors (ie Melbourne & Collingwood) need to come up with suitable currency. Clubs aren't going to come from the clouds tomorrow and trade for a guy they haven't even done a medical on. It's an deliberate misquote non story. May will be with either Gold Coast or the Demons in 27 hours time.
  25. BUMP (For the Cheese Board) With Hogan stil likely moving on (my opinion) I expect us to recruit a mature age forward late in the draft in the chance one of Weideman or Tommy Mc were to cop an injury. And three years later I still think this is our guy. http://www.wafl.com.au/players/view/3931 Since going back to the WAFL he's kicked over 140 goals in the last three years! Averaging 11 touches, 6 marks and more then 2 goals a game. Will be 25 at the start of next season, has an ability to go into the ruck and could be a handy insurance selection for our first year post Hogan.
