  1. Green and Whelan and possibly Bruce to stay. Whelan is just a great imspiration for the younger guys down back. He is fearless in the Green mould and I believe that he is reliable leader when younger players need that influence. I am not saying that he would play a full year down there but until the younger players get some experience into them he should stay. When you see Green put his body on the line so soon after getting his head smashed in to me that is inspirational stuff for the young guys. What Green does is what they all should be doing - be fearless. Until Spencer and co show that they can match the big boys in the ruck we should keep PJ at least because against the odds he has done a great job over the last couple of weeks. I think Robbo and McDonald will go of their own volition. Robbo looked uninterested which is probably how Robbo looks most of the time but there doesn't seem to be the same punch that there has been in the past.
  2. I think the club would prefer we support their two venues Bentleigh and Oakleigh. At Oakleigh the atmosphere is good even though probably only a small crowd go and the savouries (free) at half time go down well with everyone. If anyone wants to go to watch andbe with like go to Oakleigh and support the Club.
  3. Did anyone hear Dermie on SEn last night he implied or more or less said that Melbourne were using Watts as a marketing tool because he wasn't ready for AFL. I can't remember if it was before or after his second goal. May have been at half time. I thought Watt's game was much better this time and playing with the big boys is teaching him far more than continuously playing with the VFL. I thought his pass from midfield was great and showed he has football smarts. His handball over his head was equally good. I am very happy the way the club is managing him especially Bailey and if they do only intend to play him for another three games I am equally happy for him to do that because it will give him a chance to return to VFL, put into practice his AFL experiences and also provide him with an understanding of what is required to make the AFL. You can be a star in VFL but not worth a mention in AFL ie Nick Sautner
  4. I like the sound of him having excellent core strength and that he holds his feet. These are the characteristics that impressses me about Geelong and how they maintain their feet when tackled.
  5. Are there any whispers about Liam playing because if he is playing I am a definite even though I hate Etihad and I hate Essendon supporters (nearly as bad as Richmond). Steamindemon might know something anyone.....................................
  6. It would seem that round 20 will be the interesting game for MFC. By then we will know where Rich,WC and Freo are and it would be the game when Green, Robbo, Johnson/Jamar and Davey are injured. We could then get ready to meet and greet Scully and ?????.
  7. Am travelling up to Gabba for game. Before I buy tickets can anyone from Brisbane suggest decent area to sit in. The Club has sold all of its allowance from the AFL so we will have to sit with the "others" - hmmmm. Is it best to sit on level one? HELP
  8. On todays Scorpion's game I like Liam Jurrah and Danny Hughes.
  9. Bennell didn't play today so does that mean Macca could be out and Bennell in to replace him. I know this has nothing to do with this thread however the word from Scum supporters that MFC shouldn't be playing Watts and he is only being played because the AFL has threatened the Club with taking our only "Blockbuster" away from the club because of poor crowds in the past. Watts is being used as a marketing tool only. I cannot describe how I hate the Scum supporters and if JW could kick the winning goal well you wouldnt wipe the smile of my face for the rest of the year.
  10. Funny how everything is reverting to a Watts thread however it is not just the Scum players he will have to be protected from but that Scum Bogan Cheersquad.
  11. Roost who/where is that quote from (bottom of your page)
  12. Who cares at the moment. It will only be a problem if he has a real shocker than all the knockers will be out there saying it was too soon to play him. I am absolutely sure that Dean Bailey would not have allowed him to play unless he thought that he was ready and wouldn't embarass himself because that would do more harm than good. Also I don't think that Jimmy would interfere in the selection process so if the decision has been made it is a football decision with a mind to the marketing as well. Not to mention what it is doing to those here. I mean there are people not studying for exams, missing essays, sleep and those trag's who are thinking about kissing men - again WT (on a another thread) I went on-line today and got my visitors tickets because this is going to be BIG and it looks like an early start on Monday 10.00am - a long and hopefully very happy day.
  13. Can we do something and get Mousey down for THE game!!!!!!!
  14. Can we include Aaron Lord in this thread - what has he got against MFC
  15. Thanks,CH is an arrogant and rude man. He looked decidely uncomfortable when Richo and Riewoldt were talking to him.
  16. Expect a big one. People are already talking about the game, what time to get there etc. Nice one for the coffers.
  17. WT I missed it. Am trying to do some work so I want to know. DD why do you try and belittle everyone?
  18. The unknown is public transport and what plans has the State Government to improve public transport to the Casey area. Games could not be played there without an upgrade to rail system. Obviously a complex situation but if it and any Darwin experiment is put in the too hard basket we will return to the basket case that we were before Jimmy! I know that Jimmy has surrounded himself by some very clever people who I am sure will look at the proposals. We will not be second guessed or left behind whilst other clubs take up ideas and opportunities like has happened in years past. While this is the case we need to support the club and its board but that doesn't mean blindly accepting everything. We obviously have some talent here on the forum (brains, I mean) (although there seems to be some discussion about some IQ's on other threads - grow up) and the whole reason to get together last year was to gather ideas so put those ideas to the club. Email Cameron or Chris Connolly - make them aware of what is discussed here. I think you maybe surprised how receptive they are to what members are thinking. The only way the Club will get strong and remain strong is for the supporters to retain their passion throughout these coming years. It is not going to be much better next year but if we continuously snipe like some here do, without offering alternatives, then we open ourselves to ridicule from the media which will undermine all the good work that Jimmy and the Board have put in this year. It is not just the Board but all the effort that the supporters have put in. Let's be constructive and innovative. It will only make our Club that much stronger!!!!!
  19. Obviously,do we have confirmation of development of a ground/amenities at Casey at a level that AFL would allow games to be played. If so what is the timeline of that development. Why can't we have both. Isn't this part of what Jimmy wants the club to be that is a part of a wider community rather than the exclusive club we have been seen to be in the past.
  20. It would seem the majority here are for the proposal. I think that it would be good for Jim/ Cameron to hear from the grass roots that they have our support and also hear of some of the great ideas that some have here. No one has mentioned that the current Labour Government is very happy to move monies into Aboriginal areas ie sporting arenas so maybe we could come up with some ideas how to gently relieve the Crudd Government of its/our well earned money. The other obvious plus is that we would be expanding the game for Demetriou so there would have to be some good negotiating points for the Demons - reduce other away games/increase reciprocal games like recent Hawk game. I like the idea of Demons doing a deal with Tiger Airlines etc for members and maybe a sponsorship deal as well. All in all if it means the survival of the club we all have accept the good with the bad. To say that we should be playing all our games at MCG then thats all well and good if we were living in a perfect world but look at Nth Melbourne and their future. They have none, despite all the good will that everyone has for the club. In hindsight they did the wrong thing by not moving to GC. I know that this is going to rub a few up the wrong way but can we at least discuss!
  21. One bad game in how many?Hmmmm
  22. Did anyone hear the end of the Sport show last night on AW. Gerard was inidicating that there had been some whispers about the team selected for Hawthorn. One of the names mentioned (the only name I caught) was Dew. The implication was that he may not be playing. Does anyone know anything about this or was I dreaming or having a nightmare depending on whether we want to win this or have a honourable loss (again)
  23. If you read Peter Germans thoughts on last weeks game you may understand some of the more mysterious placements. See MFC Website
