Saty leave the lycra at home. Might put people off from going or at least frighten the children and dogs. -
Just received my email regarding final training. The Club are having a BBQ for all members and supporters to come and watch final training. I'm hanging to meet Saty - my hero

I think you would find that there are many ex players who are not involved (work) with the Club but remain loyal Melbourne people behind the scenes your namesake in particular.

MFC MEMBERSHIP - SEASON 2015
Longsufferingnomore replied to Longsufferingnomore's topic in Melbourne Demons
Geez I went through 64 pages last night and I couldn't find it. It was late though. -
Latest Membership Tally is 19124. Does anyone have the comparison for the same time 2013?

Just an aside - had dinner tonight with friends who know Sam Frost very well. He was very homesick and disliked living out west and he is absolutely thrilled that he was picked up by Melbourne and cant wait to play under Paul Roos. Is trying to convince his mates to buy Melbourne memberships as they all bought GWS memberships when he was there. I didnt think that the older players were supposed to come back for another couple of weeks. Good sign that there seems to be a lot of the boys getting in early. This was the talk at the B&F that they were coming back early If we can just have some good luck with injuries away we go.

Reasons why and why not to sign up in 2015
Longsufferingnomore replied to Soidee's topic in Melbourne Demons
No one would have an argument with you that watching our games previous to this year was beyond excruciating. This year in the first half I went to or watched games that I thought we could have a chance. That hasn't happened for a long time. Given that we had to make major changes to the team set up because of injuries and players, after probably one of the most gruelling of preseasons they had ever experienced (apart from those bought in from other clubs) were absolutely "stuffed" in the last half of the season, I could still see the improvement. There were still times where they played exciting football. Now that the players (old and young) have had a full 12 months experience under PR and experienced coaches, their development should take the next step. The recruiting dept with Taylor, Viney, O'Donnell under the auspices of PR, recruited well last year and so far bringing in Lamumba (spelling!) and Garlett are massive pluses if they live up to what they have shown previously. Imagine Garlett kicking 40 goals for us on the forward line and double taking with Jay - now that will be exciting. Of course we have Jesse to come back and be what we all expected this year, only he has 12 months to get bigger (if he could). Add in to this is Sam Frost who I believe will be another Dom Tyson. Delivery into the forward line will be so much better next year. If that is not enough to make you renew, surely the knowledge that we have a ship now in safe waters because of Peter Jackson. Our Administration is stable and genuinely working well. Our Board is cohesive and working well behind the scene which is how it should be. Lastly if you have been a financial member for 36 years how could you give up the emotional investment that you have made in the Club. Things have started to turn for our Club and wouldn't you want to be part of the ride. I too have questioned the value of my premium membership in the past but like Song I am also thinking of increasing my support for the Club probably through player sponsorship. That is how comfortable I am with the Club where it is and where it is going, -
NAB Challenge fixture confirmed

Red, Ballarat is only an hour and a bit away. Surely some tragic D'Ls could make their way up and give BMc some support for his first hit out against his old club. We have great support from around the Ballarat area and if the weather is fine we could get a nice crowd to start our trudge towards September.... -
How many supporters do we have?
Longsufferingnomore replied to Travis Boots's topic in Melbourne Demons
Our major problem as suggested by another Lander is the numbers of MCC members who dont tick the box. We used to have the highest number of supporters amongst MCC members (second Essendon - ha) (I'm not sure now) and given the increased cost of being an MCC member (with the construction of the new stands) ticking the box is just too much for some. With success there will be more who will come on board and also upgrade to premium membership, For some $721 (MFC/MCC member) or $831 (Premium MCC/MFC) is just too much. As most of us are stuck on for good, we need to remind those supporters who are not members that there is a $59 (2014) armchair membership - that keeps them in the membership loop where they still receive information from the Club and there is always the hope that they may return. The other problem is getting kids interested. Members can do this by buying a kids membership as part of a Christmas present. Don't forget the Pet memberships - good "donation" value this year. -

Nice interview with Billie and Steven. Billie seems to be very humble mentioning areas where he thinks he could improve. Always good to have a father who is happy for his son to be back part of the "Melbourne Family". Roosy work your magic. -

GOODBYE MITCH CLARK
Longsufferingnomore replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
Interesting GLyons reaction when the subject was bought up by Hutchy. When Hutchy said that Clarke had done the right thing by Melbourne by retiring Garry simply said "You think so" with a very sour look on his face. He obviously knows more about the subject than he is letting on. The subject was closed down very quickly. -
Bugger, I thought he showed huge potential.

GOODBYE MITCH CLARK
Longsufferingnomore replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
Supercilious [censored].He almost puts the blame on Melbourne for Mitch's depression. At least Garry batted for the Club. In fact the Club offered Mitch assistance with his illness for a long time before he finally acccepted that he did have a problem. MFC has gone out of its way to work with Mitch both with his foot injury and his mental illness. As another poster has said if the Club does want him to play PR is the man to convince him that the MFC is the place for him to be. If he had a problem with the previous coach/CEO - both are gone and replaced with amazing football/admin brains. Our coaching staff are almost all new. So if he did have a problem with someone last year that problem is almost surely have gone. However, what has worried me for some time was Mitch's comments that he missed the boys and only missed the Club a little bit. Whatever happens we have people in place who know what they are doing. So if we do lose Mitch there will be a back up plan. Unfortunately all this media speculation may send Mitch back to the dark place he has just come out of.
