My Heart Beats True - 2014 Membership Campaign Launched
Longsufferingnomore replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Wunders, There is a $59.00 "Armchair Membership" with no access to games or a 3 game membership which costs $90. If still available the $100 New Balance Voucher comes with either of these memberships. If you call the Club today (Tuesday) on 1300 336 667 you might still be able to get the Voucher. There is only a limited number left and the offer finishes on the 10 May. Hope this helps. -
Suggest you read WJ's report from the Devils Advocates function. Might put things in perspective. Also I think you are wrong to suggest that the playing group is fractured.

I dont think there will be a massive improvement from what we saw in the initial NAB rounds. However saying that, those games were a massive improvement on what we saw last year. With the return of some tall forwards, the return of Garland, some assistance to Jake (Jamar/Gawn) and the grunt of Viney I believe we will all be pleasanatly surprised. The players have to not only learn an entirely new game plan but we also have a mid field who have had two games together. Most of us know that putting it together on the training track is easy and much more difficult to do it under pressure on game day. We are playing a compromised game plan caused by having a compromised playing list. Improvement will come slowly and anyone who expected otherwise this year was sadly out of step with reality. Like Saty I have every faith in Roos and to hear him admit that he was part of the debacle on Sunday because he coached badly was music to my ears. When was the last time if ever did we hear Neeld ever take responsibility for anything that happened last year. Roos now has to ensure the players play to his plan but more importantly he has to deal with the mental issues that the players have been left with from the last couple of years. If anyone can do all of this it is Roosy and his crack team of coaches. I don't ever believe that the team is as bad as they looked on Sunday but as soon as WC had kicked a couple of goals and we were 0.0, their heads went down - with a big sign going up - here we go again. To me this is the biggest hurdle that Roosy has to fix. There were no signs of fumbling against Saints like what was displayed on Sunday. They do have the skills but I am not sure of the belief in themselves.

Give the guy a break, whenever the ball came anywhere near him he had two defenders on him. He was never going to get the space. Also as someone else said he was restricted from the first quarter and am not sure whether it was an incident behind play as I looked back from the play he was on the ground and Gwilt was running forward away from him. He got up and was definitely limping. Losing Fitzy and virtually losingTommy Mac as well turned our already compromised game plan on its head. Alex Georgiou taking himself off in the fourth absolutely cruelled us. Add to this Dunn's niggle - geez are we cursed!!

Open letter - Peter Jackson
Longsufferingnomore replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
PJ's letter is in response to two things. One is the new privacy laws that have just come into law. Hence the open letter to those members who have not resigned. The second being a letter he received from an individual who had been a long term supporter but last year gave up his membership due to the frustration of being a Melbourne supporter. He wrote to PJ saying that Peter with the changes to the Administration and his being able to entice Roos to the Club had given him hope whereas in the previous year he had lost hope. If you think that it is just spin Peter saying to write to him, it is not spin. He does try and respond. -

Kind of on topic but whilst catching a connecting flight for home from Singapore last night happened to notice Mr. J. Hird on my flight. He was looking both tanned and slim He was in Business Class. I was not. -

Discussed is entirely different to using. -
Port had a training camp in Milan - Milan Italy that is. AFL's money at work there. That seemed to work for Port. Maybe we could forgo Darwin and head to Portofino.

Cor it would be a bit nippy down the beach. We may be meeting at ten paces in the mounting yard! I think though we may have found our secret weapon = bananas. For me not him - this horse racing caper is a bit hard on the nervous system.

Today on SEN during KB's session, it was confirmed that Mitch could have played at the end of the year but with the amount of time he needed to get fit after his lay off, it would have meant that he may play one or two games. So the Club decided to not take any risks and get him ready with a full preseason for 2014. It was also mentioned that Melbournes forward line with Mitch, Dawes, Hogan and Howe will be a power forward line. I think we can expect some huge media coverage of this fact next year.

I hope not at Flemington. Today was a little better than what we hoped for - a bog 9!

Caro is just a mouthpiece for RFC and the stories that they want to get out. This is so obviously a piece to hopefully give Martin a nudge to sign up before finals. Wouldn't want trouble over the finals.

Too much banana cake?
-
At last someone who actually does know what they are talking about.
-
My nomination is choc éclair with fresh cream - none of that sugary pretend stuff. Mr Leg if you are interested being up in the Sunshine State, we have a nice heavy 10 track at Sandown on Wednesday - perfect for wunderhorse Briefed.
-
Mr Leg you know you never see a vanilla slice in the healthfood shop. What is always there under the little glass dome - yes banana cake - health food of a nation. That will be two "extra" laps around the tan for you!

Awful news for Casey Tutungi and his family. Is Casey planning anything to assist the family.
