You're not the only one. Plenty of people have wondered if he would ever regain his explosive pace on these boards over the last year or two. It's a huge relief that he seems to be coming along so well.
Just heard on the radio. All I can think is poor Aussie. He's had such a hard time with his body over the last few years, and now he seems to be getting it in hand this happens. How do you get through something like this?
My thoughts are with you Aussie.
I was only a few feet away from that tackle. I kept an eye on him when I could and really liked the way he moves. I agree he hasn't torn any games apart which you'd want him to have done at that level, but he has all the physical attributes we want.
Anyone know how some of the other FS prospects are going? I know Stretch is around the right age and I think one of Garry Lyon's kids. Are any of them looking likely?
That is very premature. They are putting an enormous amount of faith in Grant and Jones. With luck Hall goes down early and they are stuck with no forwards for most of the season.
I'd love us to get Lynch, but the chances of his being around at 12 are slim to none. Smelts looks like he will be a quality player as well, and he is a chance to fall to us. Darling i'm not 100% sold on, but he can obviously play the game.
I think we should make the finals regardless. On the strength of a very good draw I have us down for 13-15 wins, and I don't think the loss of Bruce really changes that.
I can't really answer the poll. While it's always a bad thing to have a disgruntled player leave the club, it would also be a bad thing to give him an extra year and have to carry him if he can no longer get a game. Even worse to pay too much and impact on our ability to pay our young guys.
On the field he's not that great a loss. We have a lot of quality young players who will leap at the chance to secure a regular first team place. He will be missed off-field for his leadership and training. Obviously there are a lot of players feeling the blow (Nathan Jones' twitter for instance).
All in all I have very mixed feelings here.
Grimes is obvious. He very nearly made it in this year.
Given how scarce our experience is, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see most of the 24+ players in there.
We have plenty of young talented players who would kill for the chance to cover the roles these guys played. I'm not too worried. It might hurt a little but our list is strong and we will keep getting stronger.
