Jake Bowey Rising Star #2
I don't think he was ever stop gap. He was the best kick in his draft according to Jason Taylor. Bailey Laurie was 2nd best Thats the reason they were selected

CHANGES: Rd 03 vs Essendon
I can't for the life of me understand why Weid doesn't try something like a glove on one hand? Maybe he has but plenty have used them including Mathew Lloyd and Travis Cloke etc His two grabbing is the biggest problem for mine. His kicking is shot because of confidence most likely but that can turn around reasonably quickly given his reasonable kicking technique 6 years and he has basically played one decent game. Something wrong here.

POSTGAME: Rd 02 vs Gold Coast
This happens more often that we realise. I remember Clarkson shifting a defender behind the ball when we were 95 pts down against the Hawks a few years back . We all though the was being mean spirited and wanted to beat us by 100 points but I was told on good authority that he was getting his team to play various roles and match play scenarios. Against GC we were knackered with the heat. SO shutting the game down was a good option.

Take out. the Geelong final and tell us where he has had a meaningful impact. Bowey has had more impact in 9 games.

POSTGAME: Rd 01 vs Western Bulldogs
Libba only attended 1 centre square bounce. Unusual given he was the no 1 clearance players last year. It seems that Smith has moved from Wing to centre and Libba may be on the outer a bit. He certainly got very little of the ball Maybe he was playing a defensive fwd role

POSTGAME: Rd 01 vs Western Bulldogs
The Dogs are in trouble. Their coach has lost it. Their club is leaking If their mids aren't on top they can't score Their defence is scratchy. Their fwds are not good without Bruce (Naughton excepted) When the Umps stop the free kick love fest they are cooked.

2022 Free Kick Differential
The rule was brought in to stop players charging front on into a player that was vulnerable - hands outstretched going for a mark. Fair enough. Smith turned to go for the ball - you could see he thought about going up for a spoil and then stopped himself. He was stationary when Weigtman barely brushed past him. He wasn't impeded or 'blocked' as you say. BS free every day of the week. Virtually every commentator agrees. You are out on the wrong limb here.

2022 Free Kick Differential
You're kidding with this surely? Lets have another rule No planting yourself in a threatening manner. FFS

2022 Free Kick Differential
The very first centre bounce of the GF Stef blocked Gawn who threw his arms out as if to say WTF?

Smith actually was stationary and Weightman made the slightest of contact with him. Appalling free

“Sound the Alarm” The Goody Mic'd Up Documentary
Based on limited information shown it seems there were vast difference in coaching styles Goodwin, tactical, well drilled, encouraging, reinforcing, calming and confident. Everything was about structures, discipline, energy and going back to what they had learned and what they knew had worked so well for them Bevo seems much less so of that and more emotional, John Northey style, encouragement. Less about structures and more about 'throw the ball around', 'take some uncontested marks' type instructions. Interesting too the complete confidence that Goodwin had in his team in the box to analyse and recommend tactical moves. As one who wasn't a Goodwin fan early on it shows a remarkable trusting management style that appears gets the best out of all the assistants

Training Ground?
Spoke to a few club people about this. We need to bide our time. Its all happening behind the scenes but the club can't say anything lest they upset one of the 20 or so stakeholders. Part of the problem is that there are so many fingers in the pie with regard to getting sign off. Melbourne Parks Trust, Olympics Park Trust, the City of melbourne, the State government, the Tennis Centre trust etc etc. There are 3 separate Ministers that have to sign off any proposal and given its location there are no votes in this at all for the Govt. We have all heard it before but I am comfortable giant strides have been taken towards a solution.

A 24th Round instead of Practice Matches?
Given the Top 8 statistically doesn't change much after about round 8 or 9 surely this is just another money grab?
