The Kruezer Cup Carlton laid 4 tackles to 3/4 time Travis Johnstone had 43 possessions. Ran around by himself all day

PREGAME: QF vs Collingwood
Last time we kicked 8g 18b and won by 4pts. We smashed them but couldn't kick. We absolutely set ourselves for that game and trialled a new game style the week before against Carlton. A very high press not letting the Pies get their overlap running game going and locking the ball in our fwd 50. We then put that back in the memory bank. Go back and watch the two games you will see a marked difference in the way we played. I said at the time its exactly what Geelong did in 2022 when they trialled a new game plan against Melbourne and then parked it till finals because they assumed they would have to beat us to win the flag. The boys will be confident they can beat the pies.

POSTGAME: Rd 24 vs Sydney
What I have come to appreciate is that we have a really good coaching staff that can assess how the other team are playing, make adjustments and communicate those adjustments to our leaders that know what to do. We back our system, are well drilled, have a lot of trust in each other and take away the oppo's strengths. Sydney tried the keepings off game and we managed to shut it down but also punish them the other way. It was a very mature and good performance today. And I am sure I read recently that the pies have been down at 3/4 time in something like 17 of their last 32 matches. SIf that is correct then they aren't that good a team to be in that position are they?

POSTGAME: Rd 24 vs Sydney
I have said it before but the other teams will be worried about meeting melbourne in finals. We have been to the big dance, we have won a flag, our defence is first class, we have talent to burn, we have multiple weapons and now seem to be able to switch gears or game plans during a match. we are building nicely and will mess with their heads.

That would be disgraceful. But normal for the AFL

PREGAME: Rd 24 vs Sydney
No other team knows what its like to win a flag. We do. That's a big advantage in the big dance. If we played Richmond in 21 that would have changed the players minds and whether they could win or not. It's called human nature. You may not be familiar with it. And any mental edge we can get we should drive it home. Finals me with teams' heads. Imagine playing the Lions on GF day. We would have an edge
