Teams change the way they play to try and beat us If they kick the ball high into their fwd 50 they will lose. So they try to maintain possession switch play, do short kicks and wait until their fwds get back to man up ur defence. Our game has been built around springboarding from defence so when we get even numbers it is harder for us to play our game. Last night we had 1 or two shots on goal from the corridor. Richmond forced us to go wide on most occasions. Our radar was off hence the high number of points

KK was the steak knives in the May deal. Cost us nothing, was a relatively high draft pick originally but alas his concussion issues could not be solved by us.

Goodwin was speaking with Langdon 2 years before he was out of contract. They put a lot of work into him.

If you follow Fox footy on Twitter they will often have clips from their various shows that include the "Lab" segments where they study various plays. Often down the ground footage can be found there..

Showing my age here but the definition of a handball used to be a clenched fist hitting a ball held in a stationary palm Dont know when that definition changed but you never used to see over the head handballs or the crow throw before 1990 or so.

Vladimir Putin famously took one Oligarch (Khodorkovsky from Gazprom) to court for corruption and kept him in a cage in the corner of the court room. It sent a blunt message to all of the other Oligarchs that they needed to co-operate with Putin or else. The AFL aren't that bad (yet) but the point is you only need to do it once for everyone to get the message,

Dale Lewis And you don't need a lot of examples, It is common knowledge that if you speak out against the AFL you lose gigs, endorsements, plum jobs etc. So people don't do it - or at least the vast majority. Its not rocket science that a monopoly code driven by fierce control of its narrative would use coersion and the lure of financial penalties to maintain their narrative.

Happy to disagree. Well not happy but I disagree. And if you compare BBB's marking with Weid then there is no comparison.
-
The footy media are in on the illusion. Go against City Hall and you are out of the game for life.

Weid can't mark. He is a two grabber. Its his fatal flaw. maybe its confidence, maybe he just can't do it. It is what it is. And BB comes back in. His marks and gut running are gold. Oh and he kicks straight too..

North Melbourne in 2016 was 9-0 (and 10 from 11) They finished 8th and were beaten by 10 goals in their only final. Just sayin'...

Except this seems exactly how we are playing. We are losing clearances regularly and creating our scoring opportunities from defence. We are often 1 down at stoppages as if we are happy to concede them. Oppo clearances are rarely out the front though and are almost always sideways or 'dirty' - meaning f50 entries are shallow and easier to defend... At least that is my observation....

Viney has kicked a goal every game so that appears to be working...

The very, very contentious 50 for Dissent Rule

Telstra Tracker (stats frm 2020 - I can't access more recent) BBrown rd 6 13.3km BBrown Rd 2 13.1km BBrown Rd 4 13.4km BBB covers a lot of ground for a big fwd...

Probably deserves its own thread but I read online that we hold a pretty amazing record. Number of games since we conceded 100 points.... Melbourne (rd 19, 2019) 51 games Next Brisbane 10 Syd 7 Carl 5 Freo 4 St K 3 WCE 3 Ess 3 WBDogs 2 Geel 2 Port 2

Forgot about him. He wasn't as big a signing as Lewis though... And Mitch Clark was probably the first we snagged out of the hands of other teams. I remember that as being a coup. I was having a laugh the other day thinking about players we 'missed out on' and Landers gnashing their teeth over like Jack Hannath and Jamie Elliott. Thank God we have moved on from those days,,,

People forget there weren't many many players (let alone multiple Pemiership players) wanting to come to Melbourne. We were a laughing stock for many years. These guys changed the narrative and I for one will always be grateful for them coming to us.

Agree. The guy ran directly at BB and was 70m away from the ball. The generous take is that BB was protecting himself and was clumsy. By not penalising the off ball sniping this stuff happens.
-
Interesting take. What the hell was the Willy guy doing trying to run a BB 70m away from the ball? That in itself is an infringement. Maybe BB was just trying to shrug the guy off and being a 7 ft tall gumby was clumsy?

A young guy who was drafted in 2020 and played only 2 games last year due to injury, and you are struggling to understand why we drafted him. Have I got that right? There aren't enough eggs in the world.

How bad has the umpiring been? Pathetic

Is that a real question?

Oliver out of this world Outstanding game. We would have been lost without him
