  1. I see your favourite players are: All of them. Clearly not. Which team do you support? Keyboard hero.
  2. They are defined by the stats people the same way but clearly when a pack forms and players aren't running full pace rather diving on a relatively stationary target then you would expect less injuries....
  3. I don't think that's right. Blocking is only paid in a marking contest. You can shepherd if the ball is within 5m.
  4. I dont believe the ump said "it hit the post" rather he wanted to "make sure it hadn't hit the post". We were dudded.
  5. I was thinking along those lines. We have recently had too many players going in for a contest rather than trusting your team mate and waiting for the receive. It might have been a brain fade because he his usually happy for a contest. The problem is that a shepherd would have definitely helped his mate win the contest.
  6. That video looks damning altho it is possible he was assuming Trac would get the ball to him in the clear.... yeah, nah...
  7. Yeah the more I think about it I think you are right. So with no clear evidence the ball hit the post how in the hell have they called it a point?
  8. I know for sure that when a goal ump is standing in front of the post and the ball hits him/her then it is deemed a point. I am not sure what the same ruling is for a player though. Having said that I think it was reasonably clear that the ball didn't touch the post so the only option is that Tracc's arm (that was holding the ball) hit the post - he seemed to push off with that arm. As usual the AFL Rules of the Game don't mention this at all. Like so many things they make it up as they go...
  9. Wasn't he the travelling emergency?
  10. I don't think is time on ground altho that looks most likely. Each qtr was around 24/25 mins so it has Oliver at 103:13. He would have had at least 3-5 mins off each qtr given the conditions you would think....
  11. Bernie was dropped not rested.
  12. Smith went forward because he had hurt his hip. May be in doubt for next week. Goody said it was great that he could play out they game. Thats why TMac went back and Smith went forward.
  13. The ump said "I think its a goal but I just want to make sure tha ball didn't hit the post earlier" There was no evidence that we saw where it shows the ball hitting the post but you could clearly see Tracc's arm holding the ball hit the post. If I am standing with my back against the post and the ball hits me, its my understanding that this is called a point. Anyone know if this is correct and if this is the basis a point was called?
  14. My thoughts watching the game.... VDB only played the last 3 quarters so his effort is even more meritorious. The umpiring was fantastic. Hardly noticed them and they let the game flow. Why TF can't we do the same at elite level? The tackling by the Demons was first class. Really smart. Waited and planned the tackle rather than going in fast and furious and giviong away lots of frees. Can see why people didn't like Tyson's game. I'm not a great fan but I can see what he was trying to do. He kept trying to break tackles and create play rather than a quick give. A lot of his work didn't come off but a lot did. Got the ball a heap and did some good things. Was a very good game in the conditions. JKH very smart in the conditions. Easy BOG.
  15. You can talk these guys up all you like. The results are there to see. Last season and this. Defenders are there to stop scoring . We simply can't do that at the average rate in the AFL when oppo teams go i50 . We are well below average. In fact this year we are 16th. I'll say it again for you. 16th. Doesnt matter what i think. we are close to the worst. Last year we were the worst. OMac is hopeless in my view. He played a couple of decent games this year but thats it. Jetta's stats this year are actually pretty bad but I do rate him. Hibberd is not playing like he was last year. Salem is Ok without being great. We were last in stopping oppo marks inside defensive 50 last year. Not sure what the stat is this year but I would hazard a guess and say its close to that. Our talls back there are just no good.
  16. we have a c.rap defence who are incapable of defending one on one. Same as last year. And when our mids are so lazy and let oppo players run past them at will it makes for a terrible result. Goodwin says he knows the problem - I am actually starting to doubt it - but it is the same in the Cats, Pies and PA games. 16th this year for scores once oppo are i50. we were 18th last year. What a disgrace. Roos must cringe watching that vision. I do.
  17. The jungle drums are beating about this... I have some limited experience with Collingwood when Pert was there and its fair to say the view is he is an ordinary bloke and an even more ordinary administrator. I hope I am wrong but I don't feel good about this appointment.
  18. Our game plan sucks at the MCG. Play way too high. Too often our weakest players are left one out in vulnerable positions - our poor defensive structures are being exploited by oppo coaches. Our defence is easily the worst part of our game. Same as last year. Too many here moaning about criticism of our defence and the players in it but the stats don;t lie. We let through the most scores of any side in the top 8 from i50s. One on one we are useless in defence. Last year we were 18th for scores by opp'n inside 50 and defensive one on ones. Nothing has changed. Blind Freddie can see that we have few winners there. Jetta and Hibbo play good games often but virtually no others. Salem can be creative but our talls are useless. Carlisle looked like a superstar. Gawn excluded, our mids go missing regularly. Too much left to Clarry. Tyson is a bust. I love Jones but his days in the centre square are over. Maybe he needs to be our sweeper in defence. Yes we win the clearances generally but we are not damaging teams, And on turnovers there is little or no defensive coverage. Our set ups at bounces are bewildering. Our future 'stars' Hogan, Petracca are too often unsighted. Overrated big time. Our fwd crumbers are like Hannan dont do anywhere near enough. Spargo will surely replace him. Fritsch is being used to defend too often. Melkshams form has fallen off a cliff. What TF is our fwd plan? It looks like a one trick pony at the moment. Get the ball in as quickly as possible? Great for our i50 stats but hopeless for efficiency. And there is no coordination between crumbers and flyers. Hardy anyone over the back allowing defenders free reign to clear the ball from our fwd 50. Aside from Gawn and TMac it appears there are few players that can take a contested mark. Our body work in marking contests is generally appalling and time after time you could see our players jogging through the corridor as Aints players swept the ball up the wings - just like Collingwood. Our season is as good as over. We can't defend so it matters little if we make finals. We will go nowhere playing finals the way we are playing. Roos must cringe at our defensive efforts. The Swans with their 10 or 11 rookie listed players nail their defensive system more often than not. We have no idea - Chaplin has a lot to answer for as does Goodwin. Goodwin seems to have no idea how to fix things and is desperately slow to react in game. Lots of people here squealing and jumping down the throat of anyone who dared suggest caution after winning six in a row against the bottom sides but the Emperor has no clothes now and the reality is we are a very average footy side with a lot of overrated talent. Our leaders (Max excluded) are a joke and trying to defend the players after this effort just demonstrates your fan boi status.
  19. adios this is pathetic
  20. maggots make the game unwatchable
  21. our defence is useless
  22. Gawn the only player that can take a mark for melbourne
  23. mids being smashed. lazy as. Petracca unsighted Tyson - is he even playing?
  24. St K 13 i50s 10 scoring shots
