  1. Can excuse this sort of thing once a season, but not when it happens every couple of weeks. Still not enough fight in the team when it matters. We gave Port a good run for their money last year twice too, this was an abomination
  2. All I'll say is we should proceed with a bit more caution when changing a winning team. We could've used Riley even if as sub again
  3. Vince, Lumumba, Jones and others all had good firsts and fell out of the game. Just 54 possessions in that quarter, nowhere near good enough.
  4. Howe is back to his old ways. Just one handball. Gave away clearance after clearance from the middle, parking players back will do us no good at all. Also, that free against Dunn was absolute garbage. Why should it be any different to a shepherd in general play? What a joke
  5. I don't like him when he's playing us, but I quite like Goodes and acknowledge him as a champion. What I can't stand all the journos saying "Why would they boo him" and "shame on those who boo him" as if there are definite answers to these things. Opposition fans don't turn up to games with rational arguments, a player getting booed for two hours shouldn't suddenly be an issue when it's happened for decades. Especially since it was such a small portion of the crowd.
  6. Very bad luck for Riley. Guessing it's just a positional thing with Viney coming back in but I wanted to see him again, even if just as sub.
  7. But the fact he's not getting it kicked to him was a symptom of how poor he was playing. Hogan and now Pedo have proved they're a much bigger threat. Dawes should have to show some exceptional form in the 2s if he wants to get another look
  8. The way we pressured them and eventually turned the game completely was outstanding. Everyone simply clamped down and did their job and got us that vital separation in the 2nd-3rd quarters. They were outmarking us something like 34-11 (we turned that around to 103-63 our favour), they had about 25-9 inside 50s at one stage (we turned that around and won it too). I think at least 3 of their goals were from shocking blunders deep in defence but I'll take those little moments of chaos if we're going to move the ball and tackle the way we did. Felt like our Round 1 Victory because when the Suns made a run we all kicked into another gear and moments of brilliance arose yesterday (Hogan's handball to Pedo, Garlett's goal)
  9. Pretty big joke. That guy's performed well all year but this was clearly Hogan's week. Plenty of young forwards can cherry pick 3-4 goals when their teams' clicking but not many can pull the strings and dominate the way Hogan did
  10. Not at all. I think his hair suits him. A little lengthy and slicked back
  11. He was just playing an ok game for 3 quarters but in the last quarter he played like Bartel. Off the back of seeing what he did in the final term I'd rather him stay in the team even if he's subbed for a week. Worth noting that he played 76% game time so I think Roos is wary of keeping him fresh. Even Hogan had a sizable rest in the last quarter
  12. Most underestimate Bail's value to the team. He's frustrating when he has the ball in hand, but as a run with player and a defensive forward he's often the cog that helps the team function. I noticed this at stages last season too. Just needs to give it that extra few % until he deserves to be a regular
  13. Garlett may have been quieter but his forward pressure and evasive work was at its best
  14. Thought he was the type that would be shoehorned as a flanker/defensive forward but today proved he's a midfielder
  15. I'm really warming to the forward line of Hogan, Pedersen, Garlett and Howe, with cameos from Watts, Toumpas and Vince
  16. Is it possible to love Hogan too much? His work rate is phenomenal. The handballing, ground level work. It's hard to keep track of him as he can lead anywhere and be a target within a few seconds.
  17. As few changes as possible to the side we saw play for one another. If they're right, Viney and Jetta, probably for Bail and M.Jones. But even then, in spite of their stats counts, those guys began to work their way into the game and contributed in the third. Won't be fussed if Tyson misses another week due to how our midfield fared. Very unfair if Riley misses out given on how he attacked the ball in the last term.
  18. The positives far outweigh the negatives when it comes to Watts. Let him do what he does best, he doesn't have to do it all
  19. 6- N Jones 5- Hogan 4- Garlett 3- Vandenberg 2- Pedo 1- Cross Very hard to pick:apologies to about half a dozen others
  20. Garlett's forward pressure is outstanding. Could've kicked 3 or 4 today Massive credit to Fitzy as well. Were all his marks off opposition kicks? I think we needed that height down back, plus he can run and read the ball Based on his final term I think Riley should be a regular in the team, our midfield was at it's best in ages despite not having Viney and Tyson
  21. I think Toump seemed to have more freedom. Was in some bounces, played as an attacking midfielder/forward. Definitely better suited to that than playing behind the ball (he made one costly blunder on the goal line). His game was a sigh of relief, finally showing some potential.
  22. What a diquehead. Accused Watts of chickening out of playing the Hawks.
