  1. I don't think the umpires care anymore. It's so obvious to me whether I'm at the game or on the couch. I call out throws 3-4 times a game
  2. I don't understand why they don't let rucks compete the way midfielders do. I mean what's the point of penalising Gawn like that- what does it achieve? This game was such a nightmare of injustices. But it was a surprise to see us score like that. We needed the win though and should've gotten it. It kind of feels like 2007 again with all these close losses. As well as Watts, Hogan was a bit shaky inside 50 towards the end, we needed a bit more leadership
  3. Our second option in the ruck is Gawn on his hunches
  4. I think the gap in supporter response was no way representative of the team's performance between R1-2. I'm very disappointed we continue to get our pants pulled down when we go in favourites but at least we're in a position to win and I find that less soul destroying than the continuous beltings from around '12-14.
  5. I'm not ready to plunge into the depths of Demon despair after Round 2. It's not 2013 anymore. Saturday was disappointing but it wasn't among the worst performances I've seen. We're not at the level yet where we play comfortably with hype/favouritism but I'm happy to sit here 1-1 and I'm confident we'll find a way to bounce back
  6. Garland saying how much he loves the club is all good but his form has taken a huge dip in the past year and a bit
  7. I don't think today was the end of the world because I wasn't surprised. I would've happily snuck over the line and been ecstatic to be 2-0 but our last 5 minutes of fumbles didn't allow it. In the end it was an old fashioned "Rely on Vince and Jones" game because our younger group who we are used to being consistent now just weren't up to it. We got clobbered in possessions and also lost tackles which was the most disappointing part. Oh and Daniher. Our defence was an exciting prospect a couple of years ago but now we're getting clobbered by talls and I'm not sure Garland's up to it. Also not sure if it's the long term spot for Salem. Jetta is our best defender at the moment. We sucked, but Essendon were certainly inspired. Anyway it was close the whole game but we didn't even win one damn quarter. Not sure if I'll continue this paragraph. Can we win 2 games in a row please? Edit: No I will start a second paragraph to point out that Matt Jones nearly lasted 6 quarters as a good player. Good on him
  8. All the attention will go to Hogan so Garlett will kick about 4.7
  9. Be a fair bit richer. (*Would be, I don't bet, but $6 against Melbourne is pretty tempting)
  10. Total BS. There's no way it would clash with teams with a TINY BIT of red in them. We were 'forced to wear' our white against teams that have bits of white in their jumpers. In the case of St.Kilda it looks like it clashes more. Meanwhile Carlton V Richmond play and Carlton can wear their (practically black, especially on tv) guernsey for the sake of tradition! We are the most traditional damn club of them all, if we want a red guernsey we should be able to have it. That said I think our red guernsey last season was a bit boring looking, needed some kind of blue stylised into it as we just looked like Sydney from the back
  11. Dunn not being picked, Matt Jones playing, who'd have thought it last year? Hope Lumumba does alright. He started last season on a good note. Surely with that Essendon backline, 100 points minimum. If we lose all hell will break loose again, even though it's only round 2, yet if we beat this depleted team we're 2-0 and on top of the world. But take note, we have lost to an Essendon top up side before
  12. As long as Gus comes in. Presuming O Mac will miss then Dunn is the obvious replacement (And so Salem doesn't have to kick it in every time). Bugg and Tyson, I think Tyson will have to up his game as someone will surely be nudged out of the midfield.
  13. Just...saved by the bell yesterday. Relieved. It was about how we responded after looking so shot in the third. 4 goals in 7 minutes. If two bursts at each end of matches is all we need, I'll take it. Players were ecstatic and any win to open the season should do that. Very impressed with Oliver, quick hands and read the ball well and he was only on the field for 58% of the game. Kennedy was also impressive in his first game, just like having another Garlett with the capability of playing up the ground. And Viney looked like a silky outside mid at times, could show he's truly ready to dominate. If the Bombers (somehow) start to get a hold of us hopefully the fight in us this week will translate to next week.
  14. Definitely Viney's best asset. But at Cripps' height it is incredibly dangerous.
  15. I just have a feeling that if someone's gonna carve us up tomorrow it'll be Steve Johnson. We also need a hard tag on moneybags. No Petracca (and Brayshaw) on the park to open the season dampens my spirits slightly Warning: Matt Jones Warning: It's Jack Watts' birthday tomorrow
  16. They're so mediocre and their best players are still unreliable. That said they'll probably win 7 in a row in the 2nd half of the season and make an EF but we're a good chance against them
  17. Very quickly becoming one of if not THE best player in the league. He's a freakier version of Pendlebury
  18. If it's gonna happen in 3-5 years, it's never gonna happen
  19. How will this last through the whole season? Such a soulless entertainment idea. Instead of ads on the scoreboard why don't the fans just sing the ads! At least we give out a pair of New Balance shoes
  20. It seems so real. Just looks like he is having a reflective moment with it after a long, hard season
  21. It's pretty gritty. Like a police ad. Makes it seem like we're lurking in the night and ready to pounce. It's professional looking at least and it ties us to the city but interestingly doesn't show the MCG
  22. The Heppell one should be taken off the shelves! Or at least put in a suit given his role in the media this season
  23. His accuracy is pretty good, it's more about power and timing. Cloke can miss from anywhere, whereas Jesse struggles to kick through the ball from around 50
  24. Bring on Round 1. Very strong team performance today, ball movement was exciting at times and we never let up for 3 quarters. Garlett is so good sometimes he almost gets bored and does something silly. Could have kicked more than 3 today. With Bugg, Kennedy and a fit Kent we seem to have a lot of depth. Watts looked stronger than I've ever seen at the contest. It's great to know it's not Hogan or nothing. Garland and McDonald also looked on song down back, as did Jones and Vince. We seem well poised for the first game
  25. It should just be used less and replaced with a few games at suburban grounds. Tiny crowds under a roof suck
