  1. Should've been contact below the knees against Cloke then. If that's gonna be a rule they should be consistent
  2. Just have to bomb it long and hope Garlett can get a couple of goals out the back this quarter. If he wants them, that is
  3. Not sure, but I'm pretty sure the commentator pronounced Michie 'Mishie'. I don't think I've even seen Hulett out there
  4. The crowd applauds as a stoppage finally occurs on the broadcast side of the ground
  5. Garlett and Pedersen have had consecutive shots not get the journey. At least we've controlled play for 5-10mins
  6. Garlett hasn't had a kick and isn't doesn't look like he's doing much physically, should be tackling a lot in these conditions. Not sure if Pedersen's had a possession too
  7. Bit sad really. He's barely gone near it since the first
  8. I wonder if they'll still have Friday night games next year. Had the sanction been handed down pre-fixture release, they'd probably have none, but they might be tempted to show the new "full strength Essendon with a chip on their shoulder" for some big games
  9. Too late... Barely feels like an AFL game
  10. Every attempt at online streaming the AFL does is awful. The smart replay thing is an insult to modern technology, the Telstra pass thing is only handy if you want to watch footy when out and about. If I really want to see a non FTA game I just look for a stream (usually not great quality) but for interstate Dees games I'd rather go to a venue with other supporters. With even more ads snuck into FTA coverage these days, the future looks pretty grim for coverage.
  11. It'll be a bit of a mystery who plays because we won't have to finalise our 22 for Monday until after I think
  12. Watts is 196 (and more athletic), Dawes is 193
  13. Grimes made great inroads last year I thought. Can run, take marks, get 20+ possessions. As bad as Garlett was it's still hard to drop him knowing what he's capable of. Kennedy should definitely be back though. I hope it's not too long before Salem/Brayshaw are back
  14. Terrible luck having him and Brayshaw out with prolonged concussions.
  15. Dawes should learn from Buddy, Buddy rarely sticks overhead marks but he goes at them with soft hands and then juggles them lower so he can secure them.
  16. Midfield was a strong point. Tyson is looking pretty special. Viney out was a blessing in disguise as it let Vince follow the ball inside of being pushed onto a flank. Trengove's return was a pass mark, despite getting caught a bit he kept at it. Garlett was really disappointing. He still ran, but had no clean possessions and misjudged the ball completely. We needed him to kick a couple in those conditions Petracca could improve with ball in hand. Mixed bag from Dawes, forward pressure was good early, lead up to half forward and dished off some nice handpasses but he has to start marking, even in the wet that was a sitter in the pocket. We had some really good spoiling efforts in defence today.
  17. I wouldn't say our supporter base is that low. Bigger than North, Dogs, probably St.Kilda. Give another vic club a bad streak of form and their home crowds are fairly comparable.
  18. It's a nice gesture to have AFL there, but different clubs should be rotated through yearly. The deal just kills our season. Saturday afternoon, coming off a win we could've gotten comfortably 25k and a decent chance to be 6-4 but instead we get a few thousand and burnt out players in the middle of the desert. Our last two home games at foreign venues Roos has owned up to selection blunders! If anything end this deal for coaching reasons
  19. I thought Kent was alright. OMac definitely isn't up to it at the moment. We've missed Lumumba, he was in his best form for us before this prolonged concussion. Dunn is the absolute must include though, for god's sake
  20. They say tanking comes from the coaches and not the players but the players don't seem very interested
  21. Freo are just atrocious now. Be it in draft or trading, they've just driven their list into a hole, since their best 22 has been dismantled (and gotten too old) they just have no one decent coming through, particularly key backs and forwards
  22. Great win Casey. Did we have much support there tonight?
  23. He's been a consistent defender for 2+ years. Just because he's been dropped now doesn't mean he doesn't have any attributes. He's been commended after plenty of games under Roos. I would've only taken Garland over Dunn 3 years ago
  24. I cannot stand watching players throw it and get away with it. It turns the game into a different sport and it gets spotted by umpires 10% of the time. Also when players pull up and wait for the other player to pick it up and then tackle them. The league looks like the under 9's sometimes to be honest. Players used to go at the ball far harder before the contact below the knees [censored] came in. Additionally, the marking rule where you nudge a player and they get a free kick for the slightest of contact? Since when has 'eyes off the ball' been a written rule? I can't stand this because they will pay it in marking contests, and the ruck as well, yet when midfielders are around the ball at stoppages and similar "eyes on the man" blocking happens regularly. They say it's about having a fair run at the ball in marking contests but if that's the case why don't midfielders get a "fair run" at the ball when there's a stoppage? These inconsistencies stop me from enjoying the game these days
