  1. Agree. But even considering the break, we're talented enough now that I'm confident that this would be a straightforward win at the G. Unfortunately the venue changes everything.
  2. I think we could do worse than get Vardy for cheap and hope he avoids injury. Over his career he's shown little glimpses and is now well behind the pecking order for senior selection. Tomlinson would also be a handy get given his situation out of the GWS side, giving us that link-up leading and marking even if he's not a goal kicker
  3. Viney is a great player to watch battle through games even if not 100%. He must be confident communicating with the coaching and fitness staff and he repays us by going out there and fighting with whatever he can use
  4. Our players stand too close together through the middle. Not enough space to move. Poor positioning may also explain why we struggle to hit targets by hand, which leads to being tackled
  5. His disposal almost seems lazy. It's like he's capable but he doesn't care enough about it or he's lost his timing. He's making the kind of mistakes that I thought were above him. He had good moments on Sunday, but the clangers really piled up more than usual
  6. We MUST go smaller. Due to both conditions and our opponent. O Mac (rest)and Dawes ("rest") both out.
  7. I'd love to see Hunt and Blease race one another. Seems that it comes easier for Hunt and he takes bigger strides.
  8. So some Googling tells me that dreadlocks can't help preventing concussions...but I was gonna throw it out that his shaved head is the reason why he's getting them now Get well soon H.L
  9. Have the FD commented on him recently? Also, this was more than just a bad day, the kind of groaning from the crowd implied that we're done with him
  10. He's also REQUIRED to have the skills and fitness to play in the AFL. If you think he's a required player we'll always be destined for 6-8 wins
  11. If Garland were to come in (or Dunn maybe), I'd have him back and put T Mac forward. Even though his role is still important a change of position would help his confidence. Frost has a bit of goal sense but will hardly get a touch up there. We could also go smaller, placing Harmes/Petracca inside 50 (both of whom played a lot behind the ball), but both are very strong and can leap. I think the undersized key forward can still work, such as Sicily at Hawthorn.
  12. Exactly. Everyone seems to think we need 3 talls but given we don't have a Jenkins-type at hand we should try something else. Go smaller for a few games or maybe be crazy enough to play Spencer with Gawn again. Either way putrid performances like that from Dawes shouldn't be accepted.
  13. I'm quoting the damn stats because his ball use was far worse than usual and if it meant nothing I wouldn't have brought it up. It wasn't just disposals under the pressure that you apparently think he feels. He's not excused from criticism just because he's been our best player for over 4 years.
  14. 6 Garlett- Just because he was really exciting. A couple of times he ran into a bit more trouble than he needed to, but he can hang his head at a fair altitude based on this return to senior footy. If he was down at Punt Rd he probably would've just been serviceable. He was where he belongs 5 Watts- A very good game that could've been better with a couple more efforts + he was unfairly played back for patches 4 Jetta- Very good chase down defence at pivotal times 3 Hunt- Doesn't have to play that well statistically to get in the best because 2 N.Jones- A bit of deliberation to include because his ball use was really disappointing, both by hand and by foot 1- Hogan- Only 3 marks, but a solid contribution around the forward line
  15. Holy garbage it was painful. I think we have to drop Dawes and play smaller or rest some of our backs there. It pains me to see Dawes getting regular games and someone like Grimes being told they aren't part of the future. This is absolute szhit. He is not a target yet he played closest to goal most of the time and Watts got moved back- what the hell is that for a tactic. Also- Vince and Petracca playing off half back? I think Roos is closing up shop with some of this coaching. WE MISS TARGETS BY HAND AS REGULARLY AS BY FOOT. Despite his possessions (N) Jones' disposal was really disappointing Stat of the game: Matt Jones used the ball at 90%, Nathan at 48.5%
  16. Interesting thought, although he did give Jamar a shot for the first 5 games. I don't believe Grimes stays our 23rd-25th best player regardless of what does in the VFL though. There has to be factors like age and reputation that is stopping the absolute best 22 from being picked. Grimes has had some very ordinary moments over the journey, but he's a much better player than one who doesn't even get a look all season in my book
  17. I disagree. When Trengove was selected emotion would've played a part. Then there'd be some relationship issues and disciplinary issues affecting selections, and then the selection changes based on what's at stake
  18. I think Oliver's omission is more a team thing rather than based on personal form. He has a lot of currency as an inside mid but he only played 62% game time and Roos probably wants someone who has a little more endurance and versatility. Anyway maybe it was a plan for him to have limited games this year. If Viney misses it'll be a bit stiff on him though
  19. Oliver omitted after the bye is a little interesting. This should definitely be Grimes' shot with Wagner out. I'm guessing Lumumba will play for Casey along with Brayshaw? Thought they were both outside chances this week
  20. Imagine how silly you'd sound if you said Spencer would remain the longest out of the group back then.
  21. That's not much of a reason given who's in front of him. Our defence knows how to stuff up even the most simple of options
  22. Well Trengove's being nursed back in despite lacking speed/agility. He's given it a crack though. I think in Grimes' first few years many talked him up as a future club champion. We seriously could've used him in place of a tall in the wet last game
  23. It seems to me there's a huge supporter (and club, even) divide between Trengove and Grimes. Obviously there's correlation between the two, both ex co-captains, first round picks who showed a ton of potential in their early days and then struggled to handle the pressure. Seems the majority have sided with Trengove and can't wait for Grimes to get out the door and to me it's slightly unfair. Trengove's struggle to come back has won a lot of hearts, he probably has better potential, and he's younger, but he isn't without fault in his game. Grimes remains a handy footballer who isn't getting a chance
  24. Enjoyed that, especially an insight on how he felt last year and his positivity for the future. The fact he was no.2, the fact he went down so early in the preseason and Brayshaw's form put him massively under the radar. Then his injury this season made me feel his career will be somewhat plagued. The fact he was significant in such a poor team performance V Sydney gives me hope he's a guy not afraid to dominate and we need a couple of them
  25. 15 day break V 6 day break when we take them on in R16 at the contractual sweathole Don't the NT!
