  1. unfortunately i would rather my 82 year old grandmother play before Trent....good luck with life after football
  2. If you were to read the post i replied to, there was a clear question of who have we got that can compete with Cousins, Cotchin, Foley and Deledio at the present time? Read the whole thing mate before shooting your mouth off. I simply answered the question ffs
  3. The below is who i think Melbourne have that closely resemble to equal talent to the above mentioned:- Cousins & Green Cotchin & Morton Foley & Jones or Moloney Deledio & Silvia Tambling & Davey And to add to the youngsters you mentioned - Petterd, Maric, Bennell, Jetta, McKenzie & Dunn So to answer your question, yes, i do think that Melbourne have a better midfield than Richmond. The fact that we nearly beat them with a second tier side (when trying to lose) says something about Richmond. I'm not saying that atm the Dees have a great midfield (anything but) but it is better than Richmond's. Also you have to remember that they have got rid of Tuck this year.
  4. Now before i start i would like to say that i believe that the melbourne midfield craps all over the Richmond midfield, but thought i'd raise the subject due to the article below. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/tige...f-1225786845272 RICHMOND has entered the race for disenchanted Saint Luke Ball, with the Tigers desperate to win his leadership skills as well as his football ability. New coach Damien Hardwick has endorsed the club's decision, made on Friday afternoon after the club assessed its list after the trade period. The club is aware Melbourne would be able to meet Ball's financial terms, but Richmond still has a powerful position to win a player in December's pre-season draft. Ball might prefer to slot into a Richmond midfield full of young talent, rather than be seen as the sole shining light in a Melbourne midfield that is exciting, but extremely raw. The former St Kilda captain is travelling in America and has not yet made a decision on his future, or any potential new home. Richmond chief executive Brendon Gale said yesterday the club - with pick No. 2 in the pre-season draft - would actively chase Ball when he returned from his holiday. "He is an impressive bloke. We had a chat on Friday afternoon and if Luke Ball was available we would have a really serious look at him," Gale said yesterday. "If he nominates for the national draft, we would be reserving those selections for kids, but in the pre-season draft it would be a real possibility."] Without going into an indepth analysis, Melbourne's midfield is much more extiting than the Richmond midfield. Who, other than Delidio, Cotchin, Cousins (Who will be gone in 1-2 years) & Tambling do they have? Thought this could be a good discussion topic that could be elaborated on....what are everyones views on this? I haven't put this in the draft & trading board because i think it is a midfield v midfield and issue and not a Luke Ball issue.
  5. Maybe this is the big fish we are trying to lure into the PSD?
  6. Well for what it's worth....year 12 isn't the be all and end all. People put too much emphasis on enter scores. An enter score is just a mark for a bunch of exams....some people are great at exams, others (like myself) aren't so great. It's more about your attitude towards what you want to achieve and persistance. I got an ordinary enter score, but instead of uni i ended up doing an advanced diploma of engineering (tafe). I've now i've now been working as a mechanical engineer for 5 years, am heading towards management, have been on numerous business trips to China this year and have just bought my first house. All at the age of 25. So if you ask me, i have no problem with Jack going on this footy trip. Let the guy unwind a bit, because god knows he's going to have a busy off season.
  7. This prooves you are making this stuff up
  8. did anyone see him throw to the break? ......tv gold right there.....
  9. I'll let you guys battle this league out.....won everygame of the season in the real thing this year for one of the demonland dreamteam leagues. finished 1223 overall in australia and had the 3rd highest score of the round in Round 17 with a score of 2,533 anyway enough gloating....good luck guys
  10. I like the look of him. Seems to have good balance, comfortable with the ball (including bouncing) and has a nice jump at the ball in the ruck and when marking. Where do people think he will go in the draft?
  11. What....no Jordan McMahon!?!?!? Hands down the most influential player in the afl this season!
  12. I think i recall on the TAC cup show on saturday that Koby Stevens has a bit of OP???!!!! If it is the case he may well slip down the pecking order a bit
  13. Wow...a couple of bubps and tackles from Trengove were impressive.....loves the tough stuff
  14. I'm happy for McDonald to stay. if you actually have a look at his stats he has no way been a liability to the team. Either he or Robbo had to go......not that i had anything against Robbo (actually one of my favourite players) but i think they made the right decision. J-Mac is team oriented, no fuss, standout leader WHO DOES chase, harrass, tackle etc. I'd much rather our young guys learn off J-Mac than Robbo....which only a couple of weeks ago people were saying was a liability. They were saying he only plays for himself, goes for the speccy, lays on the ground and watches the ball get run out of defence etc etc...just because the guy has a video of his retirement and has been in the papers of late people seem to change their tune.... No McDonald won't be around for the next flag....but he is ALOT more important (probably more than you or i will ever know, i have a big feeling he has a massive influence behind the scenes) than Robertson.
  15. Boak will be a gun.......would love to get him to the dees. And whilst i'd hate to see rivers go, well, lets just say we have plenty of quality young key defenders.....
  16. On SEN this morning they said a press conference was being held today with Robbo and Baily.....enough said .....and that's 100 posts...only took me 3.5 years
  17. It isn't all about winning the contested ball (although it is important)....you havent said anything about his tackling and pressure he's putting on the opposition. In the last 3 weeks he's had 5, 9 & 5 tackles!!! 19 tackles in the past 3 weeks is pretty good going....not to mention he had 4 the week before that.....just because his contested possession count isn't as high as the other in & under players doesn't mean he isn't putting in the grunt work. Just to compare the pressure on the ball carrier since round 17:- Tackles S.Valenti - 4, 5, 9, 5 = 23 J.McDonald - 3, 6, 3, 5 = 17 N.Jones - 7, 1, 1, 1 = 10 B.Moloney - 6, DNP, 1, 1 = 8 Note, i haven't included McLean as he has missed 3 of the last 4 rounds. I can see Valenti taking McDonalds role in the team as of next year....Should McDonald be moved on to provide a spot on the main list for Valenti? My other question is, do you think having Valenti in the team has allowed Jones or others in the team space to improve other aspects of their game...ie not being at the bottom of the pack and instead being able to spread and creating attacking options?
  18. Could someone please correct me if i'm wrong....but doesn't the veterans list only take the players salery out of the cap. The player still needs to be included in the 46 players on the playing list..... So wouldn't the real question be wether or not we decide to take an extra player in the ND? Providing we take our PSD pick aswell. So if we kept Robbo we would have picks 1, 2, 18, 34 & PSD 1 If we got rid of Robbo we would have picks 1, 2, 18, 34, 50 & PSD 1 I think the real question is which has more value??? Robbo for 1 more year or pick 50?
  19. I'd take the Sydney approach...in that draft safe players then trade for an established tall.....eg hall, ball, jolly etc so it'd be scully and trengrove for me
  20. Yes it is disappointing with Maric and Strauss both out and Bleese too....but 3 of our later draft picks this year have shown plenty. Bennell - so silky with the ball Jetta - plays his role and does the team things. Doesn't look out of place in the 1's. Jurrah - Don't need to say anything Maybe with Maric, Strauss & Bleese out it may give Bail a chance to debut. If strauss and Bleese turn out to be players....which is more likely than the other boys (when they were drafted) then last years draft would have to be one of our more successful in recent times. You can also add Watts to that list. Potentally 6, 10 year plus players out of 1 draft.
  21. Certainly exciting times ahead for the Dee's...i for one can't wait. All this time down the bottom of the ladder will make our success all the sweeter. GO DEE'S
  22. I'm surprised that Nate Jones hasn't been talked about.....the guy oozes leadership and at only 20 or so there will be plenty more to come. The guy led the midfield last year and for those who said he has no skills well i believe he was the one who put the footy on millers chest 3 times in 5 minutes against WC. He leads by example and is always at the bottom of the pack. He apparently was the one that was addressing the players in the huddle at 3/4 time too......if they opt for a young guy i hope he gets the nod.
