Training - Monday 19th December, 2011
skills32 replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I have just posted this on another thread, 'Bit of back to the future here. I umpired in many of his u14 & u16's games in Darwin and he mostly played in the forward pocket where no one could stop him. He had no speed whatsoever then but his baulking and weaving was something else to watch. And he was skinny as a rake; all skin and bones' but it is more suited here. Aaron has never had endurance skills and as a matter of fact neither did his father. Aaron is a carbon copy of his dad who was a complete footballer in his day. He could have played in the big time but no one knew about him or a few of the other NT boys back then. -

I know that the coaches have no idea of who is going to play where next year and they won't have an idea until feb/march. A lot of water to flow under the bridge between now and then. -

Holy jumpin' jellybabies. I can do 1 km in 12 mins. That's walking and a little jogging, but then I give those blokes 50 years start. -
So the way I read it, if we finish 9th next year we could have picks 8, 9 and 10. Not bad at all.

I want to thank all of you who take time out to post on the trainng sessions believe me it helps us o/s people out. The reports help us to keep up to date on what's happening; and believe me your efforts are very much appreciated.

Yep me too. I figured that for a young footballer it would be better to stay with a team that was on the up rather than go to an unknown future and plus his family needs; I took him at his word. If you don't have respect you have nothing and that is fine for some people: they are the ones who make money but lose out on satisfying relationships. And for Tom..... no respect.

What was the first VFL/AFL Melbourne game you attended?
skills32 replied to Wilson7's topic in Melbourne Demons
I started to barrack for the Dees in 1948. The first game I saw was against the eagles at Subiaco in May 2009. Didn't see much as was stuck with the cheer squad behind the goals closer to the city about 5 rows back. We got beaten. Haven't had a chance to see my second game yet but it will happen. -
Now for the crumbing pacy small forward

Gibson Turner from NT Thunder is my choice if we were to look at a small forward from the draft. Has a great highlights reel. He and Jurrah would cause a lot of headaches for opposition backs. -
Col Sylvia suspended for Round 1, 2012

Not wanting to nit pick but for future info it should be,C2H5OH The OH symbol is for alcohol and C2H5 tells you which one, in this case ethyl. At least that's the way we did it 50 years ago and the price of OH has risen since then so you may be correct. FYI a 10oz beer when I was 18 cost 11 pence ie 10cents. -
Thanks for the reports fellas but I need to know in full detail about Supermercado's goal. Is there a video? Will Allen welcome him into the full forwards inner circle? Can I get a detailed quote from the man of the moment. Adam well done. Let me know all about it and you can brag.

Brett Lovett was only part time in 2011 but Sandringham decided to appoint a full time coach. He was invited to apply for the position.

Quite simple; they just ran out of steam. I think too much oxygen in the air. The high hills of Arizona won't get many AFL visitors next year. Oh and plus they wobbled again, Their curse is as bad as the curse of Norm Smith. Makes you wonder about validity of bone pointing.

Jones- still a c grader Saw this and stopped reading. Sorry but some people just have'nt got a clue.

Collingpoo will go into this game thinking like it's this years grand final.

The Scorps have money problems and if it wasn't for MFC's financial contribution they could go down the gurgler. Makes a perfect scene for a MFC takeover which means we would be a stand alone club with little extra expense.

Story is he got a pay raise for it.

I played in 1960 and the bane of the day then concerning umpires was differing interpretations of holding the man/holding the ball rule. Nothing has changed. It's simple, if the guy with the ball attempts to get rid of the ball legitimately once he is tackled then it is play on. If the ball is knocked out of his hands, play on, and if he doesn't then holding the ball. Accent is on the word attempt. It is easy to understand but for some reason a few umpires want to to take the matter to the High Court. I have been shaking my head in bewilderment for 50 years and still can't see light at the end of the tunnel. Where has common sense gone?

Good man because SCULLY IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE.

Well said gramps. Put it in a nutshell.

Things must be quiet up your way Rod. Flitting around like a butterfly.

I met Dean Bailey in Perth at a function in 2009 and was most impressed. He has a dry sense of humour and refused to believe me that Aaron Davey was slow as a wet week when he was 15/16 so he called Aaron over and it was confirmed. After that I asked him to tell me about Jordie McKenzie ( when he was a rookie) and he said 'who'. I repeated the name, and he said 'where did you hear about him' and I said around he then leaned towards me and whispered in my ear as if he didn't want to be overheard and said 'he's going to be a very good player for the MFC'. And was he right. From then on I have been impressed with the man.
