  2. Sure just like Jack Watts. How many pages of Hogan threads will I have to wade through before the fruit ripens....... ....or falls off the tree?
  3. Well there you go. Should have known better. First time I have ever used a newspaper for my info and bang!! egg all over my face. Apologies to all for the misinfo. Having said that I still believe they will get their man. The persuasive powers of Sydney still amaze me.
  4. He will be traded for the Swans first pick No 23. Very canny man; had it built into his contract. BTW remember this Posted by skills32 on 03 October 2012 - 03:37 PM in Double Dip Drafting and Trading Board If Sydney don't get Tippett then they will definitely get Dawes. I have a gut feel that we will finish up with Caddy as a result of the trading/movement of the two. Don't know how , it'e just a feeling.
  5. What about Dr Dennis Cordner?
  6. I like records and this could go 1000 plus posts before Monday. Strawberry Fields forever.
  7. How is that? A lot of juvenile postulating and bickering.
  8. This thread just gives strength to TGR's reference to Strawberry Fields.
  9. This is all huff and puff. GWS AND GC will not bid for Viney unless they really want him. The AFL and the clubs are extremely professional and not only want to, but have to succeed in order to be viable. Bidding on Viney just to spite us or make us use a lower pick is amateurish at the best. It has never happened before and history won't be made in this instance. If anyone thinks that they will bid for him just to spite us, then please tell me why a club would be willing to risk making a bad decision just for the sake of a childish gesture.
  10. Quite often I get a lateral thought and this is one. Tell me how dangerous would Sydney be with either Tippet or Dawes in their line up and don't tell me that the Swans aren't thinking about it I did get some reactions but did not expect one from your good self.
  11. I don't know. But if past experience is any thing to go by, if Sydney wants some thing bad enough they usually find a way to get it.
  12. No I am not disregarding that at all, you are reading between the lines or looking for an argument. What I am suggesting is that perhaps the lure of, the likelihood of a flag plus some more money MIGHT be too tempting to knock back and I think that is fairly clear. Just postulating like every one else in this thread. Just because someone says something does not mean it is set in concrete; remember one Mitch Clark.
  13. Yep but if I were virtually promise a flag and good money, I would certainly look at completing the degree in Sydney or even deferring it. If Dawes went to Sydney; that would be would cause nightmares for Clarkson, Buckley et al

  15. Random thought What if there were no hypotheticals.
  16. When did you get back. FYI Jurrah is not coming back; he is gone.
  17. Put the tip of your thumb together with the tip of your first finger and place the circle formed over your nose and that is the answer.
  18. Yes and It wasn't so much the free kick count as the number of missed frees that the Swans didn't get. Also I see that the Dawks have the privilege of being allowed to flick pass and even throw the ball. GFC!!! the AFL are going to have to allow umpire bashing now or there will be a revolution.
  19. Yes and she should be on our recruiting panel. Recruiting......... nobody knows! but she knows. Words to the effect of ........'but there is a better one coming' OMG; our recruiters were over paid nobodies and that is one reason why.
  20. Comiserations to the umps; they gave it their best but couldn't get over the line.
  21. Malcesci had a Crompton moment. Stoked for the Swans.
  22. A few years ago when Dimwitiou called their football ugly they had the NSW ruby union boys in to help them with tackling and getting the ball out of mauls. Very successful = a flag, and has kept them at the top. Wonder no other club has picked this up. The maul tuition in Union as opposed to League would be invaluable in today's AFL climate.
  23. Thanks for the replies. I am now almost convinced that the game is rigged for future crowds. Please help me here because I am about to go ballistic; and when I do...... well I am glad i am out of the country.
  24. I have just watched the Preliminary Final and I need someone to convince me that the umpires did not try their hardest to influence the result in the last quarter. Otherwise G. Geishen the AFL and the newspapers will be bombarded with my feelings. For starters no one can criticise the umpires. This then makes it easy for the AFL to lean on umpires to make certain calls at certain times and thereby influence a result. Over the last year or so I have thought this to be happening but have dismissed it as paranoia on my behalf but tonight was the last straw. Of course Sydney's last goal came from a free which was 50/50 at the best and after the result was a foregone conclusion. and it made the FK differential a bit better. If it was close the call would have been play on.
  25. The rules of the game were designed for 2 reasons. 1. To prevent players getting hurt. 2. To prevent cheating. I am appalled that umpires 'put the whistle away in the last quarter or in finals because a free kick is a free kick whether in the 1st or last quarter; players can get hurt or cheat in the last quarter so why stop officiating. Having said that I agree that sometimes soft frees are given, like when the player is tackled in a way that there is no chance of injury ie tackled around the point of the shoulder or a flopping arm bouncing off a shoulder etc. Umpires should be taught that if a tackle occurs when there is no likelihood of injury then the ump should use his discretion and allow play to continue. Umpires know the rules and I'm convinced if they were taught the reason for the rule being in place we would have a better standard of umpiring.
