Our alignment with Casey is the best of both worlds. Effectively we own Casey and as such they are our second's team. It is a beautiful arrangement and as things stand at the moment it is the best way economically and for our players football maintenance. We own Casey and I am as happy with the alignment as a pig in the proverbial. Having a stand alone team did not work with the reserve competition; I don't know why, so why revisit a conception that did not work?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
skills32 replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
Remember Buckley, collywobbles and Brisbane? Remember what happened and how it happened? All we have to do is slyly let let be known that if they nominate Viney then they can have him; but for 2 years and then we will have Viney back AND Whitfield. . -
Haven't the selwoods stopped breeding? Which Lewis family are you talking about? I am talking this generation. With Motlops and Rioli's you have a 50% chance of getting an elite player; what are the MFC's results with first round picks. I would suggest 25% and that is only pretty handy footballers. If old man Cyril Rioli was a racehorse he would command command stud fees in excess of $200,000. The only two duds that I know of were Willie who went to the dawks for a year but was too small to mix it with the big boys and a daughter who nrver played footy; was a handy netballer but. The NT was ignored for years and that is why older Motlop's never made the big time but in the NT the Motlop name is legendary. The younger generation speak for themselves.

If there is a Motlop or a Rioli amongst the names then grab them first and then JV.

Throw Monopoly Money at $cully on Sunday
skills32 replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
No problem with your summary, actually agree with you EXCEPT all he had to do was say I am not allowed to comment.and I would have said fair enough but he chose to deliberately lie to Jimma and the rest of us instead; it is the same as a middle finger and I don't like those. -
Just trying to let people know what I think is happening to Demonology but you have to have your little dig. Well that is fine but I won't be looking into your hole. BTW I walked. I am sure you understand what you think I said but I am not sure if what you think you understand you read is not what I meant. What are you talking about?

Back on topic. One of the reasons that Tim appointed mods was that swearing became too big an issue for him to handle and given his state of health at that time he appointed some moderators. He also mentioned that if he didn't he would shut the site down. Tim wanted a family orientated site. After I resigned as a moderator ( yes one of the heavy handed ones); swearing and poster abuse became rife and I feel that because of that Tim will not re open the site nor let it be re opened by anyone else. If any one swore or was guilty of poster abuse in their postings on Demonology and is now bemoaning the state of the forum then all I can say is........ ..............It's your fault.

Is the holding-the-ball interpretation really better?
skills32 replied to Traja Dee's topic in Melbourne Demons
George you know as well as I do that holding ball/man was as big a problem 60 years ago as it is today. The AFL and the umps have no idea. Today we have Geishen saying that if a player attempts to dispose the ball then it is play on but 9 out of 10 times the attempt results in an incorrect disposal and this is wrong. This is the law we are talking about 15.2.3 H olding the Football — Prior Opportunity/No Prior Opportunity Where the field Umpire is satisfied that a Player in possession of the football: (a) has had a prior opportunity to dispose of the football, the field Umpire shall award a Free Kick against that Player if the Player does not Kick or Handball the football immediately when they are Correctly Tackled; or ( B) has not had a prior opportunity to dispose of the football, the field Umpire shall award a Free Kick against that Player if, upon being Correctly Tackled, the Player does not Correctly Dispose or attempt to Correctly Dispose of the football after being given a reasonable opportunity to do so. Now you tell me if we are right or wrong. There are too many people who have never read the lawbook and I know that some umpires have only given the book a cursory glance; They rely on their advisor to tell them what is right or wrong. Here are the rules http://www.aflcommun...SINGLEPAGES.pdf This is the law pertaining to the ball being spilt free 15.2.4 A pplication — Specific Instances where Play shall Continue For the avoidance of doubt, the field Umpire shall allow play to continue when: (a) a Player is bumped and the football falls from the Player’s hands; (B) a Player’s arm is knocked which causes the Player to lose possession of the football; © a Player’s arms are pinned to their side by an opponent which causes the Player to drop the football, unless the Player has had a prior opportunity to Correctly Dispose of the football, in which case Law 15.2.3 (a) shall apply; (d) a Player, whilst in the act of Kicking or Handballing, is swung off-balance and does not make contact with the football by either foot or hand, unless the Player has had a prior opportunity to Correctly Dispose of the football, in which case Law 15.2.3 (a) shall apply; or (e) a Player is pulled or swung by one arm which causes the football to fall from the Player’s hands, unless the Player has had a prior opportunity to Correctly Dispose of the football, in which case Law 15.2.3 (a) shall apply. But there is no mention of deliberately dropping the ball or pushing it away from you with an open hand. (incorrect disposal) There are too many administrators in charge with their head up their backside which makes it impossible to listen to a rational argument. If the umpires umpired according to the written rule we would not be having this discussion. What's the point of having rules if the enforcers 1. Don't know them 2. Don't understand them or 3 Ignore them. The laws were brought in for 2 reasons 1. To stop cheating 2. To protect the ball player from injury. Umpires don't understand this and that is why we get so many tiggy touchwood free kicks. And the idea of umpires 'putting away the whistle' in the last quarter appals me. A free kick is just as valid in the last qtr as the first. I have a lot more to say but in the interest of fellow posters I'll leave it at that. PS I umpired in the NTFL for 8 years after my footy days were finished and I can tell you some stories about that 'profession' that would make you wonder if it is all worth while. -
Any one who would not have G.Ablett is either not serious or hasn't got a clue Ablett, L. Jetta and take your pick Ballantyne, Pendlebury, Betts or Conca.

And now for Couch to be introduced into the midfield this week.

Probably your son is going to have a lot bragging rights in years to come. I started to support MFC in 1947 because they were dismal that year as well. Sort of an underdog thing as a 5 year old and boy oh boy did I give some bragging in the next few years.

Fair enough reply.

I blame the senior players attitudes. Too much of being up themselves and not realising that it is their attitude that is killing the team. The new guys to the team don't have that attitude problem which is evident in the way they approach their football. Anyone who has played the game for 10-15 years at a reasonable level will understand the buzz you get just walking down the main street and having strangers coming up to you and talking footie; especially the town team. This fame is addictive and it can go to your head. This is where I see our senior players right now. It is time to go back to basics. Neeld should give them an opponent and play man on man football and that will sort the wheat from the chaff. Get their heads sorted out If they can win the ball then then they have to develop a game plan to suit themselves. Playing together for a long time, they should know the strengths and weaknesses of each other. After 3-4 games the players who cannot hack it will sort themselves out and Neeld will have a direction to go in.

The ox is spot on with the key word being having a 'dip'. -
Very strange decision by Kapersky. Latest research shows that Collywood only has 136 supporters with access to a computer; this is the lowest % in the AFL and NFL combined.

About 12 inches by 8inches wide

We just can't work out how to get to the right spots and then react quick enough to what is going on It's called structures. Early in the year we were good for a quareter and a half. we have now progressed to nearly 3/4 of a game. JUst wait until we hold our structures for a whole game. That's when we will be competitive and win games.

This thread sucks. I bet you guys are the ones fighting over granpa's money before he dies.

Duckers and chuckers...get a leg up from Umps
skills32 replied to Robbie57's topic in Melbourne Demons
For me, the rules need to simplified, stripped back to the core of the game, and left alone. They were once. -
I am flabergasted at this thread. Mark Neeld demands everything at an elite level and he is getting results. Posters on this board should take note and raise their comments to an elite level as well.
-
Commetti is 100% correct. Pity Neeld wasn't around 5-6 years ago. If he was they would be calling us pigs not demons. Too much grunt.

jockstraps not shaking hands before the game and I went to school with Bryan Kenneally who did not participate in kick to kick at lunchtime

AFL Employee leaked info about indigenous players
skills32 replied to BarrassHarrass's topic in Melbourne Demons
Neeld is right. This drama is done and dusted. It's no good for the AFL It's no good for the MFC It's no good for the team It should stop now. However It is liquid gold for the journo's whose income would dry up if there was no controversy. Shoot or ban the ( insert Don Chipp's word ) I say. -
Is that Acker beating the drums again? Looks like him. The papers will go bonkers with 'Acker the hacker'
