  1. Junior back - good luck. He's been missed. I'm really hopeful Blease can play well enough for long enough in the reserves to get a gig in the seniors next week, for both his own sake and the team's. I think playing consistent senior footy for Casey at the end of the year should be the goal, but time is running out. What relationship is the Casey Pendlebury (23rd player) to the Collingwood Pendleburys?
  2. Could he though? Like Rhino said, seven years ago he could, sure. He hasn't been able to bust open so much as a VFL game recently, so it's a stretch to think he'd be able to bust open a final now considering his present form.
  3. If the injury lists are unreliable then clubs would be awake to that and just ignore them. Therefore I doubt their purpose is to confuse other clubs.
  4. That's exactly what I thought too Choko.
  5. I'm going to run with the assumption that Junior won't get up. I'm guessing Moloney may be under some doubt as well, but I'll assume he'll play for now. Out: Dunn In: Trengove Easy.
  6. 6. Macdonald 5. McKenzie 4. Frawley 3. Scully 2. Johnson 1. Bartram Dishonorable mention to Davey for that 50 and Bruce for the endless stream of clangers in the first half.
  7. With the momentum Blease's career had so far (or lack of), the fact that he played the last quarter at all is cause for celebration. I'm hoping he'll be in the Casey senior side sooner rather than later.
  8. I reckon getting new supporters is a stretch, but engaging the existing supporters is still a great outcome.
  9. I'm just taking it as a given that Bail will play. I'll be stunned if he doesn't. Played well when he was in the side, been tearing it up in the VFL, match fit, can provide run on a ground where run is absolutely crucial. He ticks every box. I see the other positions as a battle between Warnock, Macdonald and possibly Cheney for one spot, and a battle between Maric and Morton for the other.
  10. Let's have the same conversation across threads. :D I don't disagree with the basic premise of relegation to the VFL for players who are not performing at the required standard, but how long do you leave him there for? He's been there for two weeks - I think it gets to a point where you need to get your best players back in to the side. What further lessons will he learn in the VFL this week that he did not get last week, or the week before?
  11. Do you think Maric is going to be spending the whole game lying face down at the bottom of packs? Morton and Maric are competing for the same spot IMO. My preference is Morton. My preferred bench: Morton, Bail, Johnson (reluctantly), Macdonald.
  12. So he looks the same now as he did when he was at the club then?
  13. Fitzpatrick is three months younger than Watts.
  14. I'm no Headland fan, but if he's worse than Hooper, Banik, Hutton or Lounder then he must be pretty awful.
  15. Also, Jordie McKenzie is on the senior list by virtue of the "mid year rule". So it's: Spencer (for Gawn) Hughes (for Petterd) McKenzie (by the mid-season rookie rule). I don't know that there has to be a direct correlation with who goes back on to the rookie list based on who they came on for. I.e. I don't see why we can't send Hughes back to the rookie list instead of Spencer when Gawn returns.
  16. To answer the question as to who goes out, it will either by Kyle Cheney or Joel Macdonald for mine. I don't think either of them particularly 'deserve' to be dropped per se, but that's just life when you're a fringe footballer. When someone better is returning, you make way. I agree that Bail is a must this week.
  17. Three is it's Cam Bruce. That rumour was floated a while ago.
  18. I prefer the rumour I heard that they were going to take Kyle Cheney Don't worry about it. There's no point stressing about it, because just like any other rumour it's most likely to be horse crap. How long was it taken as gospel that Petterd was gone? And there's no guarantee that we'll lose any players at all. Edit: And as Freak said, he's contracted, so good luck with that GC.
  19. Apparently Jamar's TOG was in the 65% range yesterday. In order for us to not get spanked in the middle (i.e. with Dunn rucking) that figure would need to be in the 90% range if we didn't have another recognised ruckman in the side. On the extra large ground with Jamar covering the ground he has been this year, I'd be very worried about him having nothing left in the tank by the last quarter. In light of that if I were looking to introduce more run in to the side, I'd probably be targetting Macdonald or Rivers rather than Johnson. Don't get me wrong -- I'm definitely not going to be shedding any tears of PJ is omitted (as per my own choice of selection earlier in this thread!). I just don't think it's as straight-forward a decision as it seems.
  20. In retrospect I think I agree. Given that Spencer is injured and Martin is languishing in the Sandy twos I think we may be stuck with PJ for another week. If ever there's a week when Jamar needs help, it will be this week.
  21. In: Bail Out: Johnson
  22. I agree that Bruce gets ridiculously harsh treatment around here, but this has been his first really great game for the year and it's round 15. It's hardly the time to be standing up and saying ner-ner-na-boogie.
  23. 6. Green 5. Sylvia 4. Bruce 3. Moloney 2. Bate 1. Jamar
  24. I thought this topic was wildly optimistic at the time; now it's just plain funny
  25. I think the rule is more along the lines of red no longer being classified as a "light" colour, meaning Essendon's current clash jumper is out, but they won't be forced to wear white specifically - just a colour that meets the AFL's definition of light. We're not forced to wear white either - that's just what we've chosen so we meet the AFL's conditions for the alternate jumper. I've been reading BomberBlitz and I was surprised at how many of their supporters seemed to agree that Essendon should fall in line with the rest of the AFL. I agree that it's time for the AFL to stop dicking around and enforce a "one rule for all" policy - and I expect this will be reflected in Essendon's clash jumper in 2011. In the mean time we just have to suffer the clash this week, because Essendon do not have an appropriate clash jumper.
