I posted something similar in another thread. He seems to give away a lot of frees doing defender type things -- pushing in the back, high tackles etc, and it usually comes off the back of his own good work to remain in the contest. It's disappointing, and hopefully something he's working on.
I'm still happy to keep him in the side though.
I wonder that too. It's clear his fitness is not even remotely par, so how does one tell the difference between "no appetite for the contest" and "completely shagged off his feet"?
I'd prefer to get Plan A working properly.
You can't make game plan changes (strategic changes) on a whim. These are devised and revised over a period of years, and the players need to be drilled repeatedly, over a long time for it to become successful. Sorry, but the next time you see this type of change will be when the next coach comes in. 2007 was the last time we saw a coach try to make a strategic change too quickly -- how'd that work out for us?
Forget about Plan B until Plan A is in full swing. It's not there yet.
Were Garland's frees against for ill-discipline? I don't remember any specific instances of him doing undisciplined acts this week.
I have noticed he gives away a lot of frees for in the back, crude tackles etc though. It's really disappointing because these often come off the back of some excellent pressure from him - e.g. he does all the hard work of keeping up with his opponent and harrassing and coralling and whatnot, then grabs the bloke around the neck when he gets the ball. That's not ill-discipline though, it's just a sloppy tackling technique.
On that, how dumb was it of Betts to 'console' Davey? So dumb that it took that unhinged lunatic Mitch Robinson to tell him to pull his head in. I'd have been spewing if the roles at been reversed.
Both Miller and Watts have been woeful for consecutive weeks, but only one needs to be dropped as there's only one genuine forward pushing his case at Casey (Dunn). I chose Miller because at least carrying Watts has the side benefit of experience injection. Carrying Miller gives us no added benefit whatsoever.
According to the match report he copped a blow to the face in the first quarter and didn't return. The only thing keeping him out of the side at moment IMO is his ridiculous run of bad luck.
In: McKenzie, Dunn, Frawley
Out: Miller, Rivers, Jones (Bartram if Jones is okay)
About to run out the door, will elaborate a bit later, though the changes mostly speak for themselves.
Exactly. It's a bit rich to add them as a friend and then hang it on them for the personal stuff they put on there. That's the whole point of sites like Facebook - so you can share stuff like that with your friends.
Game was over in 15 minutes. There are no words to describe how much I hate that.
That's about as much as I feel like talking about this game. That was a bitterly disappointing effort, third quarter notwithstanding.
Both Riewoldt seniors (Nick's dad Joe and Jack's dad Chris) are Tasmanian born and bred. Joe and family moved to Queensland when Nick was young -- Jack was raised in Tasmania, and as far as I know his parents and younger brothers all still live here.
