  1. For a guy who is normally so articulate, his first interview while on the lap was completely incoherent, it was hilarious. His brain was scrambled in the same way mine was. It just added to the moment for me.
  2. https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/822832/tricks-learnt-in-2020-but-more-to-come-for-fritsch “In the past I’ve probably been a natural sort of kick – I haven’t really had a routine or anything, but as I started to kick points I probably over thought it a little bit. “I think I’ve got a clear path of what it looks like next year and I can tell you I’ll be kicking a lot of goals in the off-season, so hopefully this time next year we’re not having the same chat.” The effort definitely paid off. What a season.
  3. Apparently this was another player-lead initiative, like Gawn vetoing the coaches about taking Jacko out of the ruck. Oliver claimed responsibility for Bont at half time. Selfless.
  4. I normally love basking in the schadenfreude of other supporters losing their minds at their team’s performance, but I think in this case I just want to enjoy the win and leave them in peace. Doesn’t feel right this time around.
  5. I hit the roof (in a good way) when Brayshaw took that mark. He’d busted his butt in the contest leading up to it and deserved to round out the play. It was courageous but also skilful - 9/10 of those marks hit the turf. And as he lined up for goal it never crossed my mind that he might miss. He’s too good a player to miss such an important goal now.
  6. Sounds like it was a calculated dice roll that nobody would have taken for any other game. All’s well that ends well.
  7. Useless AFL Stats’ take on the true turning point:
  8. ? How does one “play up” having their head slammed in to the turf in a sling tackle? He must have drawn the graze that was visible for the rest of the game on his forehead on with a red sharpie. Bewildering not to be called as a dangerous tackle.
  9. Wish we could have heard Goodwin give a speech. For me is his just as much a premiership hero as the players. He touched on Gawn being the one to drive the choice to leave Jackson in the ruck. This is why he’s an incredible captain. He’s the best ruckman in the competition who played an all-time great game the previous week, but is still able to recognise when the understudy has grabbed the game by the throat and to stay out of the way. Amazing, selfless, powerful stuff.
  10. A billion votes: everyone
  11. I love this club. I love all of you. I am delirious.
  12. We will reset, and come back. We have all year, and we will now. I trust this team. We’ve got this.
  13. I’m out. Hopefully next time I jump on, we’re premiers. Thanks all for helping me waste the day away and share the moment with other Demons!
  14. Disappointment level: 0/10. Bigger fish to fry. All the best at Carlton, Adam.
  15. This stabbed me right in the heart. You are without a doubt part of the Demonland family. You’ve been a funny and witty contributor over the years, and here for the shittiest of MFC lows. I know it’s probably weird to feel a personal connection to people who we only know by a moniker and curated online persona, but I do anyway. We love you! Hope we bring it home for you, and for all of us.
  16. Brian Wilson in the hospital bed 😭😭He was before my time but that was a swift blow to the feels.
  17. ‘00 us are thinking never mind, blue skies ahead! He’s only young, he’ll get plenty of opportunity for another crack! We went this well with a young team, imagine how good we’re going to be in 2-3 years time? Just reinforces the point about how bloody hard getting this far is. Even those invincible Bombers got knocked off the following year because another invincible team, Vossy’s Lions, popped out of the woodwork in ‘01. Can’t help but feel we will most probably never get another chance as good as this one. Goody of all people knows this - flag in his first two seasons as a player then no more grannies in an illustrious career. Bring it home boys.
  18. It’s a hell of a forward line. Can anyone remember why Cam Bruce didn’t play? Injured in the PF? The inexperienced and undersized Ben Beams takes his place. The rest of the ground wasn’t that strong though. A good honest midfield with the likes of Rigoni, A.McDonald, Leoncelli and Powell, against an experienced, invincible Bombers outfit with a mix of good (Mercuri, Misiti etc) and great (Hird). The backline looks flimsy on paper in hindsight. Ingerson is the lynchpin but his support cast is Matthew Collins and big Nicho - again, honest competitors, but they’re no Lever and May. The running backs are Walsh, Ward and Woey - all capable footballers but won’t get near it if the mids and tall defenders get spanked (spoiler alert: that’s exactly what happened). I reckon the ‘21 Demons would spank the ‘00 team by a similar margin to what Essendon did.
  19. Except you’ve gotta wait 12 fggng hours before opening your presents. Worst. Christmas. EVER.
  20. Coined by @rpfc
  21. And Demonland reader, obviously.
  22. Absolutely. Yesterday I watched the Road to the Grand Final video the club put up. So many moments that I’d forgotten along the way. Just the right amount of non-play related footage. Packed MCG. Empty MCG. Jones being chaired off. Tommo’s injury. Brown’s first game. Bowey’s first game. Stuck on the tarmac in Brisbane. The whole picture was painted. I started bawling my eyes out. I haven’t had anywhere near enough sleep to cope with what’s to come today. My emotions heighten when I’m tired. Wish my tear ducts luck today, they’re going to need it either way I think.
  23. Point bum at toilet, mouth at ground. Not the other way around. Definitely don’t get caught transitioning in between. Ideally have a bucket on the floor. Had a bit of gastro in my time. 4:15am here. We’re already talking bodily function in the first ever Demonland GF Match Day thread. This is going to be a LONG day.
