  1. Lincoln McCarthy flies for the mark, brings it to ground for Joe Daniher to crumb. The Lions forward line is a bit upside down, but it works!
  2. I’ve been a subscriber to this for years - I’ve found peace with losses when it was clear the team had a red hot crack but just weren’t good enough, and I’ve been happy to gloss over a win because I know we played like pus and got away with it because the other team happened to be worse. It’s always been about effort for me. That’s actually the reason I’m in camp “flag or bust” this year. Maybe I’m up to my eyeballs in bathwater, but I believe we’re the best team in it, and the only way I see us not winning it is if we turn up to one of the games and don’t put in. Forget injuries- unless we lose Gawn, Oliver and Lever in one game, there’s no credible event likely to be severe enough to cost us the flag from here. Forget umpires, that’s just an excuse losers make. Forget a better team on the day - there isn’t one out there. That’s why we finished on top, and have such a good recent record against our rival contenders. Effort is the ONLY way we may fail. That’s why I’ll be disappointed if we bow out.
  3. Going to give the OP the benefit of the doubt and assume he’s an honest MFC fan, nevertheless the club doesn’t allow ticket allocation to be transferred and Demonland doesn’t endorse or facilitate bypassing the club’s rules. Closed.
  4. I’m not basing my satisfaction levels on what my expectations were half a year ago. Since then I’ve seen 23 games of footy that have justified turning the expectations dial up to 100. I’m definitely glad, excited and proud that we’ve gotten this far, but I’ll be bummed if we’re not able to finish the job from here.
  5. Totally agree. Everything has come together perfectly for us this year - form, injury, the club humming at every level, everything. We may never get an opportunity as ripe as this one. Without a doubt, it would be the one that got away. No pressure boys!
  6. Harry Himmelberg touches the ball for once
  7. I think you don’t quite realise how anti-social I am 😂 I don’t reckon I’ve been out on a Friday night for at least 5 years and have absolutely no intention of starting now. If I could give you my freedom, I would.
  8. “This is one for the time capsule… to stay there, never to come out again” - Jonathan Brown Sad when Brown is the most entertaining thing I’ve seen all evening. Still holding out hope for GWS somehow miraculously getting across the line. Nothing else to do now that I’ve set aside my evening for this rubbish.
  9. Me neither. I’m giving it a red hot go but I’m likely to just fall asleep at this rate.
  10. Hoping GWS win in a brutal bloodbath. The most important thing is that they smash each other in to oblivion, but I so want the icing on top of Geelong going out in straight sets. Couldn’t care less about the other game. Neither of them will beat Port so it’s a dead rubber from my perspective.
  11. It did work out. We got him during his best years, he was a valuable contributor during the rebuild, we continued to build after he was traded out, and he got a much longer career than the average AFL player. Only pity for mine is he couldn’t quite notch up 100 games for the club.
  12. Well played. Eliminates any possibility of him ending up with a leaner sentence, although I’m not sure if that was a possibility to begin with.
  13. McGuire received a personal rejection from the WA Chief of Police. 😂
  14. He's honest, articulate, funny, and easy to listen to. Definitely got a future ahead of him in the media if he wants it. It love listening to the Gus and Gawny on the podcast. Gawn is also honest and funny, but not so much articulate, which actually adds to the dynamic, with Gus frequently bemused at Gawn's slaughter of the English language. Very entertaining.
  15. Irrespective of advances in dentistry, I think a knee in the choppers hard enough to knock teeth out would hurt a lot less if there was a big fat strip of rubbery stuff cushioning the blow!
  16. Probably one of the 50 or so who get delisted every year without playing a game in the AFL.
  17. Smith. Spargo played in all three finals in 2018. Edit: disregard, Smith played in the PF drubbing. It’s Langdon.
  18. I saw the first half of the Bummers game. Looks like I watched the wrong half.
  19. His opinion of himself exceeds his capability. He’s mouthy and dirty. I’d be embarrassed if he was on our team. Gross.
  20. He’s back to a point now where he’s grabbing the ball at the top of his reach. He’s a massive dude, I wouldn’t want to be trying to outmark him. He works his butt off when he pushes up the ground too. I’m getting accustomed to see him impacting a contest at half back, then 20 seconds later impacting it at half forward, or getting on the end of one. His best MFC footy is still ahead of him I reckon. Hard to believe we got him basically for free.
  21. I know it’s been mentioned but I really enjoyed Sparrow’s game. I thought he was tough and composed - he’s shown signs of not being quiet up to the pace of the game this year, but last night he looked the part. He’s directly competing with Jordon for a spot, in my mind he put his nose in front last night (obviously the MFC already thought he did). On Jordon, both last week and this week as the unused medical sub, he’s come out as stoked at the end as if he’d played every minute. I love seeing how invested everyone is, even if they’re not on the field at the time.
