  1. I'm not going to get in to another argument about player potential... I agree Martin could be an good player But potential is a dirty word - players can be 30 and still be choc full of petential.... About time Martin and a few others on the MFC list staredt prefomring now...... And in saying that I'll take Dawes everyday of the week over Martin
  2. I agree Jaded - MFC would be incredibly stupid giving up pick 4 - no matter how successful the trade ended up. Dawes is out of favour at the pies and 'reported keen to leave' and Wellingham with a bit of luck could potentially be picked up in the PSD if he wasn't traded by the pies Pick 4 - what a bloody joke - If we trade pick 4 for Dawes & Wellingham I will demand my membership be refunded and I will quit supporting this club ... nough crap is enough
  3. I have no problem drafting J viney at 3.... Dees would be stupid not to. Would have loved to get him in the second round but GCS aren't that dumb - plus I think you'll find J Viney will end up being rated a top 3 pick in years to come anyway (based on the hype around here anyway haha)
  4. Haha like Pennski!!!! I'd be very happy swapping Martin & pick??? for Dawes...... a straight swap would be even better!
  5. Good post olisik I hope we don't have to take Viney at 3 but if GC do nominate him I reckon its 99% certian we take him at 3..... I know the club are playing hardball with Viney to scare off GC but I can't see JV not being a Dee... And anyone who thinks JV will just walk out on GC for the MFC after 2 years (if drafted by GC) are surely dreaming. If I was JV and was passed on by a club who promised to take me, after the 2 years in the system I'd chase the coin, why show loyalty??
  6. If that is true HG - then you would think Dawes is definetly out the door..........
  7. I agree with your points angrydee We were shocking to start off the season - and by the end of the year played some competitive footy with a below average list. By no means do I think we are close to competing with the best, but I feel ok with where we are heading. We lack quality players in a couple key positions and mature bodies to back up our captians - It's interesting to look back how the club address early season issues/losses and cleaned up a lot of the un-tidy turnovers and uncontested possessions counts. Hopefully 2013 can kick off like round 12 or 13 against GWS where we I thought it stated to click for some players (not all) but I am still confident Neeld can get us there.
  8. It is hard to know what to beleive this time of year - makes for interesting discussions I heard Cale wanted out on SEN (I realise this is no solid source) also mentioned Sylvia wanted out........ The rumours of Cook and Gys wanting out have gone quiet! Always a fun time of year!!!
  9. I think Gonzo is trying to say that Lynch would struggle to get a game in a full fit Weagles outfit Kennedy, Darling, Nic Nat/Cox, Frenchman, etc plus the crumbing forwards and resting mids would make it hard for Lynch to fit in - Plus he's getting old the big Q stick
  10. What have you heard rpfc??? I have heard (due to my work) GC will bid pick 2 on JV - I have to wait another few days (until F/S bidding) to work out how accurate it is though....
  11. Melbourne will play the 2013 season... haha sorry it's too early to tell without any excitement of new recruits.... I personally think 2013 will be another rough season - I hope to see longer periods of competitiveness though - On a positive note I can't wait for J Viney to run out in the Red & Blue - & Mitch to be back at FF
  12. It doesn't mean he still can't accept a MFC contract though - Un-restricted just means the MFC have no options if he choses not to accept an MFC contract PS - sorry redleg - probably what you were trying to say
  13. At no stage did I say Sellar or Davis were better players than Rivers - I said they could fill his role in the team. Rivers is clearly a superior player to those 2 players.... The fact you cannot recognise an argument about position not quality with your superior intellect saddens me. Read Today's HUN Stuie - Rivo is GAWN - so get used to Davis & Sellar playing Rivers's role.... PS - I also acknowledge the HUN research and reporting are very poor - But i don't see the MFC chasing Rivers signiture that hard - my conclusion is that he is gone
  14. You don't know how close to the pin you really are Footy players see the end and wonder how they will continue to make the same sort of cash when they retire - coaching is one option but not everyone can do it. Obviously not all players are highly educated either - Money is KEY factor for a lot of mature players contract negotiations. People who say Rivo is just chasing success are kidding themselves..... Sure there is no doubt he wants to play finals - but anyone who thinks that is his only intention is delusional
  15. I think your arrogance says it all mate.... Just ignore the fact I said - Frawley/T Mac/Garlad with Sellar as the backline mix..... Anyway you better get used to those players like Davis and Sellar playing J Rivs role as he is GAWN Oh and by the way - the MFC football department dosen't seem to rate Rivers too highly just letting him walk out..... Or does it help you sleep at night that you think Rivers is choosing to leave. Rivers comes across a lot like you stuei - seems from a distance to offer so much............ but never really delivers anything special. Continue you're vague name calling and avoid the argument to make yourself feel better MATE - the fact is the MFC Football department don't seem to be throwing a lot of cash at Rivers to entice him to stay....
  16. Haha funny...... pot calling the kettle black at all??? Anyway we were never going to agree on Rivo's value to the team - So let me ask you this.... Do you accept Rivers is gawn? Do you think Garland/Frawley/T Mac/Davis & Sellar will be able to cope without him?
  17. Well please enlighten me then master - you have still failed to enlighten me to why it would be a big loss if Rvio walks out??? Or do all you have to offer is insult and whining? And how certian are you that he's been offered a contract by Geelong (HUN reports are always 100% spot on afterall)?? At no time have I said he wasn't a good ROLE player as 3rd tall fool - You've failed to see thats been my point - the MFC don't need a truckload of 3rd up defender with poor disposal... Who cares anyway he's Max Gawn - you should PM me your postal address so I can mail you some tissues when the news is released
  18. Haha so we are ignoring he played as a forward for the second half of the year now?? Not sure what your argument has been apart fomr name calling. So lets estabish what we do know As a backman - positives - can stop players / can incept marks & is a good 3rd man up Negaitves - poor disposal which is prone to turnovers, can get beaten on the lead - can't play on bigger opponents As a forward - average lead up player who is reliant on being hit on lead to gain possession Would you pay $450k a year which is roughly around what he is chasing a year for this typle of player?
  19. And you call me delusional - in you're argument against me you spruik his importance as a forward He is a role player - easily replaceable Stop crying because you'll be sad he leaves and argue some facts
  20. Are you just goint to ignore he kicked 13 goals in those 12 games he played up forward and kicked 6 against GWS What a game winner What did he offer in his games down back??? I remember a lot of turnovers..... check out the GWS game in Canberra or wherever and let me know what you think of his effort to chase down Phil Davis - real leader Should i go on???? [censored] it i got to do some work anyway
  21. Thats what he offers - wowee lets sign him up now for $400k a year We need experience no doubt - there is no argument there - but lets not handicap ourselves with a ton of below average roll players to obtain it.....
  22. Haha speak for yourself mate - over reaction of the year goes to Stuie - J Rive is a role player and nothing more........... I'll give you that J Riv was one of our better talls this year but he is no match winner/he is a stopper who has below AFL standard disposal and kicked a few goals - Luke McGuane/ Brad Miller esc anyone??? Please brother stop kidding yourself - there are only a few blokes on our list who can hold their heads high this year - J Riv is one them - but he came 5th, T Mac finished higher then him - who you trying to kid me or yourself??? J Riv is an average AFL player
