Like Pringle - my sentiments as well. I am just hoping for no injuries.. I simply asked as there has been a lot of discussion about results around here. I counted at least 6 of our best 22 injured (not sure who is rested atm) and I think we will struggle to beat The Franchise GC 17 up there. Am very interested in this game - I do hope the boys prove me wrong

What are expectations for this game?? I'd like to know from those focused on results what would be an acceptable scoreline.......

Ahh yes '186' a day that will live in MFC infamy Let's hope these wrong can righted - Moloney etc all leaving can only be a positive step for our club. Ppl will rightly say people involved are still at the club, but lets take one step at a time before righting all these wrongs.

Agreed Stuie - Neeld is all about defence first Moloney can't play defence to save his life - it's no suprise he is now in Brisbane. Moloney is a decent offesive player - his brownlow votes support that fact. He fell out with Neeld and moved on - I have no ill will towards Beamer, sometimes a move is good for everyone

I like Moloney's inability to put on defensive pressure and refusal to run hard going the other way......... ahh the memories His clearance work has been good though, has some good mids around him now to make up for his lack of defence

Not sure if you saw last weeks game v the Saints OD but half our list did exactly that Time will tell OD, but i don't think we are playing a super strong side v the Saints. I feel a few blokes are fighting for positions. I just hope we can keep and get players fit

I knew that name would raise eyebrows I think his run & spread is really important - i feel he could develop in to a handy player (maybe not best 22 at the moment)

Likw what you said - but footy isn't rocket science I don't expect J Watts to be a match winner every game - I would like to see some consistancy from him, i think if he can develop that this year he's got a shot at being a pretty handy player. If not......... you''d have to agree it's been a fairly poor no.1.

Like the post Deeko - good discussion points My counter-argument and what I beleive, is that with less interchanges contested 1 v 1 footy will be still very important as less players will be getting to contests. You will still need blokes that can win the footy not just a pure athlete. But in saying that recruiting stratagies will change...

Sorry to Hijack this thread........ but watching the Hawks v Tigers game and the inerpritation of the umpires in that game compared to Dees v Saints really frustrates me. Knee contact, holding the ball rules all not called in the last qtr of the Tigers game...... anyway umpiring it's as a big of joke as Aussie cricket IMO Anyway if we lose to GC on the weekend are we gong to sack Neeld??? haha

Spot on DeeZee I reckon we aer in for another tough year (on the field and on this forum).... fingers crossed - these boys have good years and Dawes, Rodan and Byrnes can add something and we may win a couple games this year!!! I do beleive we are on the right track with Neeld - I just don't think we'll get the overnight success we all want

PS i always wanted my side to do well... I love the constested side of Footy though - I love watching the Hawks, Swans, Cats, Saints, eagles, Pies etc, etc..... It dosen't take a genious to see what they all have in commone

I hear what you're saying Macca... but from what i've heard a lot of recruiting is based on athletiic ability and has nothing to do with football.. You can argue all day about what is more important - recruiting or development, the simple fact is our list is so far behind the rest of the competition. You'd think it would be obvious to the people in charge - and this is why I'll give Neeld time to develop the list as those Key stats you point out Macca are a KPI of Neeld Everyone has their own opinions on footy - I'd like to see us lose the soft tag and build a Swans type culture - It won't happen overnight....... and unfortunetly it will be us supporters who suffer before the good times

The key fundemntal to recruiting for the MFC at the time of BP was athletes not footballers. Football went a different direction to what BP, DB wanted - they lost their jobs - there is not much to debat really. Football in 2013 is about winning the contested footy - lets hope our current recruiters can keep up with where footy is going

My 2 cents of the game - It was very hot, conditions were extreme not really sure how much you can take from the game Our press was beaten by the saints a few times easily which I think the conditions had a lot to do with. Not a lot of pushing back hard from the Dees Saints compusure and ball use was much better as the game went on. Took their opportunities in the 2nd the rest of the game was pretty much break even, which wasn't a bad result for us. There is a lot of development left in this side... not all the doom and gloom i've been reading on this thread......
