  1. I would like to know what you think is so special about Rivers though??? What does he offer that a Tom Mac or Garland can't cover if he leaves?? Even Sellar could play his role. Has always had promise J Riv - but never has delivered. Yeh he finished 5th in the B & F this year - what a great year it was...... (excuse my sarcasum) He's a solid ALF player - but you wouldn't rate him in the top 50 players. Experience is the only thing we're losing here if he leaves and his experience is how to play at a losing soft footy club
  2. Agree with you in that respect - I don't think the MFC is that attravtive at the moment either.Money and opportunity talk though (see Mitch Clarke).... but in saying that I don't think there are any 'Big Fish' apart from JP Kennedy out there to have a real crack at this year And i know JP Kennedy won't leave Sydney to come to Melb - but if we are talking about Big Fish - i'd go after him not Goddard - (and you can agree to terms and trade for a player who are not FA) And in saying all that I know Kennedy will stay in Syd and keep competing for September glory. Just my example of targeting a 'Big Fish' Nah fair points - I did get a little carried away I had to finish somehow and that was poor :) I did feel we were in a few games this year before we fell over and got blown away
  3. Anyway back on subject - there is a lot of talk of picking anyone up on thie forum - and some scare mongering about we are de-listing so many so we'll have to pick up more rejects.... Neeld has come out and said that he'll target players they want at the club - I'll continue to back his judgement to the extent he starts building a competitive list.... It is noteworthy that we did lose a lot of games this year - but there were only a couple there we were truly un-competitive and had no chance
  4. I'm trying not to jump in on you're argument - but I read this and wasn't sure if this was a point against or a point for All the players you have named above are NQRs, good players on their day (note i used their day - ie when conditions are suit them) but you won't see me shedding a tear with their depatures. We need mature bodies I am not arguing with you there - but we need to target the right people as well to lead this club. None of those MFC players are 'Top 50' rated, none of them are consistent and none of them will leave a massive hole at the MFC. (Apologies to Greeny - you are a club champion but even you laser left boot was letting you down lately). To end my little rant - Neeld has elected to rebuild this list - it won't happen overnight in 1 offseason, if we don't get the FA we want we will go to draft or trade, and maintain development. We are going to need a lot of good luck this offseason if we are gong to be competitive this year
  5. Should update the thread tite to Jared Rivers - SFA latest.....
  6. No suprises here JJJ - MFC doesn't seem like a great place to work (culture of losing etc) compared to the big 4 or 6 vic clubs. We need to throw big cash at player like Mitch to get them to the MFC Apart from Cloke who will stay at CFC and Goddard who is not what we need at the moment (IMO) no real value on the market in 12...... We need to give you blokes like ROunds a go get fill in players for a year or 2 to play a role (Sellar/Magner) until we become 'attactive' to come to
  7. Essendon are very keen as well - have put off contract talks with a few players:- Dons' Goddard quandary Any worth a look? • Davey • Gumbelton • Hille • Lonergan • Dyson • Prismall • Slattery • Wantsfrees (rumoured off to Port)
  8. Haha love a good rumor Anyway - I've heard from a couple of people now GC are heavily in to Viney and will nominate him as their pick 2 selection..... @&% Suns And with Collingwood looking likely to offer Cloke a new 5 yr deal a couple Pies players may be pushed out - Wellingham/O'brien/Goldsack
  9. Worth a look - nothing more than a short term fix....
  10. Is he a bit young to be too critical of this??? If he was 24 and this was consistantly happening I'd agree - still has a lot of development left in him Definetly an asset worth presisting with is his kick - we have no damaging kicks in our back 6 at the moment - which is a big worry I guess I should clarify that I am referring to damaging against opposition teams and not turnovers against us haha
  11. Very good points regarding Strauss.... I like him - but needs a big preseason otherwise risks just being a ordinary AFL player. Strauss has composure and a good kick which is something our backline sorely lacks.... As for Flectcher - what a champ pity he is a bomber....
  12. Maybe hate was the wrong word - I was expecting more anger from the troops if the twitter was accurate... Guess we'll wait and see once it is announced I say good luck to him... We've all been watching the MFC too long if we think we are losing anything more than experience ... Great bloke, average AFL player...
  13. haha I thought i'd keep up the traditions!! But in all seriousness i don't
  14. About time we traded someone at their peak value and stopped worrying about what we're losing Whatever happens to Stef after this year IDGAFF
  15. Agree BH Sadly Gizz is not the only player currently on our list that doesn't look like an AFL player (physically not talent wise)
  16. Haha I am enjoying the lols as well...... this thread just keeps on giving!!
  17. We need to sack everyone I reckon - where is tonatopia he'll back me up!! After all the players exodusing are genuine stars - it's Neelds fault they didn't play well this year
  18. Haha I hope this thread take orf like the' Neeld has gone mad - cook gawn'
  19. Would love the club to target JP Kennedy from Sydney - I belive contact talks are on hold with Sydney.Swans (not 100% sure) Throw a truckload of cash at him and pick 13 + player (Gysberts/Cook/Martin) or pick 3 or 4 what ever gets the job done to Sydney Not likely to leave Sydney but would be a great pick up - some real class in the middle
  20. Now this is the kind of interesting stuff I want to read!! Very interesting prospects - would love to know what the offer is from G-Town (i haven't read the article yet) and what we could use the picks to gain elsewhere??? Interesting times ahead.
