  1. Yeah agree with most of this. I was hoping his contract status might mean we can pry him out, but I checked and he's contracted until end of 2021. He certainly wasn't a gun forward, but he showed enough to suggest he could play there in spurts and be damaging. Most Richmond small forwards have been dropped because they have so many. Rioli, Castagna, Butler, Bolton, Broad, Graham, Baker, Lambert have all played as small forwards and been dropped in the past 12 months. Some have found new roles, some have moved on. Butler was in and out of the team and we've seen what he's done this year when given a consistent run at the Saints! With Prestia and Edwards out, Bolton got his chance in the midfield and has shone. I think he could be a mid who rests forward and be a constant threat. Kicked 12 goals again already this year. He's got the right balance of inside and outside to his game. He's winning 4 clearances a game, yet also getting on the outside and kicking inside 50 (ave 5 a game). He wins contested ball then uses pace and skills to get on the outside and be damaging, something none of our mids can do IMO. I reckon he'd be the perfect addition to our midfield. I'd give up a late first rounder for him if we had one.
  2. Jeez Richmond are an unlikeable bunch led by that whinging [censored] coach of theirs. Hope Weat Coast can come back and beat them, but doubt it with the way the games unfolded.
  3. Not sure of his contract status, but I’d be targeting Shai Bolton from Richmond. Can be dangerous as a small/medium forward type, and is proving to be a well rounded midfielder who’s got good pace, skills and creativity. He’s the exact type of player our midfield lacks. He’ll be starved of midfield time as Tigers have stars like Dusty and Cotchin with injured players like Prestia return. Could we get him for one of our second rounders?
  4. If he's still up for a full-time role, then go get him. Ex Melbourne coach and has done wonders at a few clubs in those admin/leader type roles.
  5. Justifying his place in the team as a small defender. Glad the coaching staff finally started playing him after stuffing up their decisions earlier this year. He needs to work on shifting his weight and balance, as he goes to ground a lot still when trying to judge ball in flight and changing direction. Once he does that, he'll be a very solid small defender. His kicking is usually good and he's got a bit of aggression too. I'm a fan!
  6. He's obviously not worth what he's being paid, but on talent and output he's better than a ton of players running around in the league. Round 8 he was BOG, had 25 disposals, 16 contested, 6 tackles, 1 goal... he got dropped. He's not being judged fairly on his output as North are a basketcase with poor culture. I'd wanna know if there's bad off-field issues. Moving to a fourth AFL club rings alarm bells there. If there are no off-field issues causing these moves, then I'd gladly take him for the right price. On talent and output he's a better player than half our 22 and he'd own a wing and pair nicely with Langdon in that regard.
  7. Hilarious. Next thing they'll just lodge an appeal to be handed a premiership.
  8. Big time, HAS to go. He’s more inconsistent than my grandmother with dementia!
  9. This. He's gotten better as the season has progressed, but there are other KPDs ahead of him. Maybe not all those listed above, but definitely some of them. I expect May to make the All Australian squad, but not the final team.
  10. Out: Melksham, Preuss, Spargo, Sparrow (inj) In: Gawn, Jordan, Rivers, Bedford Time to drop some non-performers and bring in Gawn plus some kids who will have a genuine crack and bring some pace and skill to the team.
  11. If he can’t be fit into the midfield, then play him forward. He’s a capable mark and has been a goal kicker in the past. He’s been woeful in defense and shouldn’t be in the team on current form. Send him forward and get his confidence back up by playing him to his strengths.
  12. Fair play to them. They belted us and are a superior club at present.
  13. 6 - May 5 - Lever 4 - Weideman 3 - Langdon 2 - Pass 1 - Pass
  14. I loved Hogan as a Demon and the romantic side of me would love to see him back in red and blue... however the club were more than happy to move him on for a variety of reasons. It seems like it’s been the right move as he continues to have off field issues and injury issues. His best is likely well behind him.
  15. Dogs have some good running ball users in Daniel, Hunter, Smith, Macrae etc. We need to apply lots of pressure all over the ground or those types will cut is up on the outside. Keen to see Spargo vs Daniel - battle of the AFL midgets!
  16. It's [censored] atrocious. Worst site I regularly have to visit. It should have the live match info stuff plastered across the homepage. I shouldn't have to navigate through menus to find it. Noone gives a [censored] about the rubbish articles they shove down your throat, we just want to see live scores and stats.
  17. Lynch is a [censored] and Hardwick is a sniper. Neither should be looked up to. The AFL should give them both a whack but they won’t because they’re weak. Next time we play them would love to see May give Lynch one of his trademark bumps and a few Richmond fans spit on their coach and players as they leave the ground... again.
  18. Current - Clayton Oliver. Will finish his career as the best midfielder to ever don the red and blue. He's the best ball-winning midfielder in my lifetime and still has so much potential to become an even more damaging player. If he reaches his potential then he'll be a league superstar. He's already well on his way with multiple BnFs and All Australian at such a young age! Past - Travis Johnstone. Smooth mover and a sublime kick, I still miss him firing lasers onto Neitz's chest. We haven't had a player of his class since. He was tagged his whole career and yet still led the league for years in effective kicks and inside 50s and score assists. He was a big game player too, was always amongst our best in finals. That 2002 semi-final against Adelaide is still the best and worst match I've attended. Other past favorites - Allen Jakovich, Jeff Farmer, David Schwartz, Stephen Tingay, Adem Yze.
  19. We’ve had a great run with injuries this season. No excuses there. Credit to Burg and the fitness staff this year!
  20. Maybe annoyance management.
  21. Big club. Name player. Of course he gets off. I'm sure that $2000 fine will really make him think twice.... when he makes $1,000,000 a year! He could commit murder on field and get off. The media would also sympathise and defend him, and say it was "uncharacteristic' and 'he was frustrated' etc. If the AFL are going to stick with fines, then they need to be made proportionate to the players wage. $2000 is more for someone like Nibbler, but to a Lynch or Dangerfield it's peanuts. Slam them with $25,000. That'll stop them and that sort of money could be put to good use in the community. Ultimately we wouldn't even be discussing this if they assessed everyone equally by the same rules.
  22. If Gawn isn't 100% then he should not play. No point risking our captain and gun player with a history of knee issues. Games aren't won in the ruck anyway, so as long as Preuss nullifies the opposition then we'll be fine. He doesn't give us what Max does around the ground, but our defense has held up well even without Max helping them out with intercept marking. As long as our midfield applies enough pressure then we can get by without Max until he is fully fit. Hopefully he's not out for a long time, but better not to risk him with his previous knee injury history.
  23. Petracca our only lock. Gawn has bee great, but missing games through injury may harm his cause. There have been other good ruckman this year too, moreso than previous years. Goldstein, Naitanui, Grundy could all stake claims if Gawn misses more matches. Oliver is building and will make the team if he continues his great form of the past month. A few average games where he got negative media attention will harm his cause. May has been good and could make the squad but not team. Other good players for us this season are Viney, Langdon and Weideman. None of them good enough to make the cut though.
  24. TMac wasn't too bad, improved on his form from earlier this year. He created a lot of contests which resulted in goals, chopped out in ruck and applied enough pressure to hold his spot. Nowhere near 2018 form, but encouraging signs and played his role. I'd go no changes this week. If English is out, then Preuss will beat or nullify Trengove or Cordy or whoever they use in ruck. If Gawn isn't 100%, then give him another week off. If he is, then only change this week is Gawn in for Preuss.
  25. He’s definitely spent more time around the middle of the ground the past few weeks. Here’s his heat map vs Collingwood. He’s been good filling defensive holes and definitely stopped the Pies moving through the corridor more.
