  1. It is awfully harsh to judge him on the one game! If you look at his entire first season for Casey in the VFL he played a number of promising games. Once he gets fitter and stronger the young fella will be fine.
  2. I think Jason Taylor and the MFC recruiting team would have the best knowledge on Elijah Hollands. Did he Dominate any games for Gold Coast at VFL level? Some players just need a 2nd chance at a new AFL Club to thrive. Whether it is at the Melbourne Demons or another AFL Club we shall have to wait and see. 🤷🏼‍♂️
  3. Here are my 5 questions for the podcast this week. 1) What do we need to do to beat Collingwood? A team that finished on top of the ladder and are minor premiers. We need to beat the best to be the best and this is a massive challenge. 2) Who replaces Jake Melksham? Brodie Grundy or Tom McDonald? Or do we play both in the team? 3) Seeing as Adam Tomlinson played a great game against Collingwood last time, does he go back into the side? Or does that third tall defender spot now belong to Daniel "Disco" Turner? 4) How do we combat Collingwood's two ruckmen in Darcy Cameron and Mason Cox? Of particular concern is who will play on Mason Cox if he drifts forward? 5) Will Bailey Laurie play in the qualifying final against Collingwood? Or would it be better to bring in a more experienced player like Charlie Spargo?
  4. I am happy with the appointments. No complaints from me. However, I will be asking the question about the progress of our Home Base at the MFC AGM as usual. I am extremely passionate about this issue and will not give up on it until it is finally resolved and our Home Base is built. The possibility of the Caulfield Racecourse looks promising though. But we shall wait and see. Especially as nothing has been confirmed yet. Besides winning Premierships, and financial security, obtaining a Home Base for the Melbourne Demons should be our number one priority.
  5. Wonderful stuff! Congratulations to Kalani. Jeff looks an extremely proud Father! 😊
  6. Surprised nobody has mentioned this letter from the MFC President Kate Roffey. Lots of good news which is wonderful to hear. It seems we have 2 new board members too. Steve Morris and Mohan Jesudason are retiring and being replaced by Sarah Robinson and Geoff Porz. They both seem capable. Here is the link regarding the letter: https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/1420657
  7. Not too worried about Matt Jefferson yet. He just needs to have a big pre-season and look to build fitness and muscle in the gym. It is only his first year on an AFL list. Plus he isn't Jack Watts and we can't put all our hopes in him. Matt Jefferson just needs time to develop at Casey. Lastly, I thought Andy Moniz-Wakefield played really well actually. There were a few positives at least! 🤷🏼‍♂️
  8. Alright. That's fair enough. Nevertheless, I don't want Melbourne getting screwed over in any trade with Port Adelaide. As long as it's a fair deal then that's all that really matters.
  9. I respectfully disagree. We will do the right thing by Brodie Grundy. But we will also do what BENEFITS the Melbourne Football Club. I reiterate that Brodie Grundy has signed a 4 year deal with us. We have all the power. Don't forget that. This means if Port Adelaide wish to obtain a trade for Brodie Grundy they need to come up with an attractive offer that is beneficial for both parties. Otherwise, we simply say NO to Port Adelaide. We have all the bargaining power.
  10. Losing Luke Dunstan has really hurt. The Bulldogs seem to have a lot more AFL listed players too. Josh Schache should be playing up forward for Casey......but I digress. 😒
  11. I am sure Collingwood supporters are making fun of us and are supremely confident. They did finish on top of the ladder as minor premiers afterall. So here's some classic jokes about Collingwood supporters from the comedian Trevor Marmalade back in the "old days" of The Footy Show on TV. 🤣
  12. That could be an option. But remember that the Demons hold all the cards with Brodie Grundy being contracted for 4 years. We need to drive a hard bargain! Squeeze Port Power for as much as we can! I would prefer a young talented player from Port Adelaide. I mentioned earlier that Josh Sinn, Miles Bergman and Ollie Lord are likely types we could target. Port Adelaide will need to give up talent to get talent. Especially as Brodie Grundy is in his prime and a 2 time All Australian Ruckmen. Remember, Collingwood wanted to get rid of Brodie Grundy! Whereas, we are more than happy to keep him. Anyway, I have plenty of faith in Tim Lamb and the MFC list management team. 🙏
  13. Video of the last time Melbourne played Collingwood in a final way back in 1989. Oddly played at Waverley Park of all places?!
  14. We are definitely spoilt for choice with who ever we pick. I recall Jason Taylor saying previously that he and the rest of the MFC recruiting team do (multiple?) mock drafts before the "real stuff" of the actual AFL National Draft. I am happy to just pretend to be an amateur draft "expert" who got hooked on watching AFL National Drafts way back in 1997 when the Demons took Travis Johnstone with our number 1# Draft pick.
  15. Was certainly an excellent and enjoyable interview. Fingers crossed that Christian Petracca is fired up for a HUGE game against Collingwood next week in the Qualifying Final! 🤞 GO DEMONS!!! 🔴🔵👹
  16. I am certainly perplexed as to why Josh Schache isn't playing for the Casey Demons this weekend?! The likelihood of him playing AFL finals is extremely low. It would of been more beneficial to play him in the VFL finals against Footscray. Anyway, it will be interesting how Matt Jefferson and some of the other young draftees go for Casey over the weekend.
  17. Saw that on TV as well. Let's possibly entertain this idea. The problem for Port Adelaide is what do they have to offer? They have no draft picks worth offering. What players could they even offer? Brodie Grundy has a 4 year contract with the Demons. We would be asking for Josh Sinn, Miles Bergman, Ollie Lord or someone of decent quality and talent. I just hope that the Demons drive a very hard bargain.....IF....a trade does possibly happen (which I hope it doesn't).
  18. Exactly. I love Phantom Drafts. 🥰 But it's even a bit too early for me until about October. No harm in speculation though. The most pleasing thing is that the Melbourne Demons are now a "destination club". About 10 years ago I don't think many young draftees would say they were looking forward to being picked in the draft by us. How time (and success) changes things!
  19. I am under the impression that this contract extension for Josh Schache has happened because either Ben Brown and/or Jake Melksham maybe announcing their retirements. All I can say to Josh Schache is to please learn to play with some AGGRESSION! Do anything! Take up boxing or go to the BJJ/MMA classes that Jack Viney and Christian Petracca are attending that Jack's brother is running. I said this many months ago and sadly Josh still seems lackadaisical. Anyway, I hope he works on this and improves his aggression and attack on the ball over the pre-season.
  20. I have a question for the distinguished older Melbourne Demons members and supporters. Were we ever considered a "big club" in the past? Were we ever considered "up there" with Collingwood, Essendon, Carlton and Richmond in regard to size etc? In particular, I am talking about in the 1950s and 1960s? I know we had large crowds attend games. But did we have large membership numbers back then too? 🤔
  21. To have 70,000 members is a HUGE achievement for the Melbourne Football Club. Make no mistake about it, this is as significant as breaking our 57 year Premiership drought! It is also intrinsically intertwined with our Premiership success. You win games of football and you play finals and win Premierships, then you will naturally see our membership numbers grow! This will mean a lot more positive conversations with the MCC and the AFL regarding our fixture and ideally more games at the MCG in the future. Hopefully we can now finally see a bright future for the Melbourne Football Club!
  22. This really is absolutely incredible. To reach 70,000 is a historically important achievement for the Melbourne Football Club. I understand some of these members are last minute for finals tickets. But it still shouldn't be disregarded. To think that this amazing Club that we all love almost went extinct in 1996 when we almost merged! We almost went bankrupt a few times too. For many years we have struggled to get above 20,000 members. Then we were happy with 40,000 members a few years ago. If we continue to have success then we will hopefully continue to grow. What a time to be a Melbourne Demons member. Something I have been for 25 years. It really does bring tears to my eyes. May our beloved Melbourne Demons keep going from strength to strength! Let's aim for 75,000+ members in the near future! It just proves that winning Premierships and sustained success will grow your membership. It is a very simple formula. GO DEMONS!!! 🔴🔵👹
  23. Over 12 months ago I was expecting Judd McVee to be delisted. I am delighted that I was proven wrong! He has been a revelation. Congratulations to the young fella! 😊
  24. This is like hot gossip at the pub! 😅🤣😂😁 In all seriousness, I would prefer to keep Brodie Grundy. I still think he has a big part to play in the Demons finals campaign and beyond. I also personally really like Brodie Grundy and it would be quite sad to lose him after only one season at the Demons. Especially as the two ruckmen game style DID work in the pre-season and could work again in the future. However, if he was to request a trade between Port Adelaide and Sydney. I would actually prefer to trade him to Sydney in return for either Joel Amartey or (preferably) Hayden McLean. I also think we would actually drive a hard bargain. Why? Because as the old saying goes.... "supply and demand" and if we can get a great deal for Brodie Grundy then why not take it?
  25. Harley Reid would definitely be a pretty amazing replacement for Jake Melksham if we sadly end up losing both Jake Melksham and Luke Dunstan to injuries. The thing is what would West Coast want in return for pick #1? Would picks #5 and #15(?) suffice? With picks #5 and #15(?) we could easily just take any of the following two players.... ● Zane Duursma ● Nick Watson ● Nate Caddy ● Connor O'Sullivan ● Ryley Sanders ● Colby McKercher ● Ollie Murphy ● Darcy Wilson ● Archer Reid ● George Stevens The list goes on! Why take just one young talented draftee when we can actually take two!? Anyway, what I am trying to say is that we are in a powerful position draft wise and I have ultimate faith in Jason Taylor and the MFC recruiting team. 🙏
