Is Riak Andrew worth drafting?

PRESEASON TRAINING: Wednesday 13th November 2024
Supreme_Demon replied to Ditcha's topic in Melbourne Demons
Obviously it is up to them, but I would like to see Clayton Oliver, Jack Billings and Shane McAdam (if he isn't retiring?!) start their Pre-Seasons early with the Demons. -
2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Supreme_Demon replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I note that Xavier Lindsay from Gippsland Power is rated quite highly in the ESPN's top 50. This is what they say about him... "Lindsay oozes class with ball in hand as an outside midfielder, with his silky left foot a lethal weapon in his arsenal. He's an outstanding leader and garners rave reviews from coaches about the standards he sets. It's difficult to see how Lindsay doesn't succeed at the next level - he has huge positional versatility with a speed-endurance blend to go with beautiful skills. In a midfield-heavy draft he should be considered firmly in that top group. Best traits similar to: Josh Kelly" Should the Demons consider him with pick #9 perhaps? -
The Demons are looking for a ruck coach. Why not give Jeff White the job so he can move back down to Melbourne?
-
Would like to see us approach former Demons player Alistair Nicholson for the role of CEO.
-
According to today's Herald Sun, Carlton may throw a "curve ball" and choose Sid Draper instead of Finn O'Sullivan. Adelaide would then look to possibly take Harvey Langford. Would the Demons take Finn O'Sullivan if he was available at pick #5? Who is the more talented player? Finn O'Sullivan or Jagga Smith?
-
I have been quite pleased with Brad Green's job as interim President of the Melbourne Football Club so far. He has been very open with his communication. Hoping he can also resolve the issues that Peter Lawrence and the "Deemocracy" group have. The sooner we can all unify in the interest of the Melbourne Football Club the better.

Assuming we keep 5 & 9, who are you picking?
Supreme_Demon replied to Mouseymoo's topic in Melbourne Demons
From what Jason Taylor and Tim Lamb have said, they will take best available talent. For pick #5 I am thinking either Jagga Smith or Harvey Langford. Both amazingly talented players and a lot will depend upon who Richmond, North Melbourne, Carlton and Adelaide take before us. For pick #9 I am thinking one of four players. It could be Xavier Lindsay who is an elite kick and very underrated, it could be Murphy Reid who oozes talent with his decision making skills, it could be Josh Smillie who has the potential to be the next Marcus Bontempelli or, lastly, it could be Taj Hotton, who showed he is supremely talented before he got injured earlier in the season. A lot will also depend upon who Richmond and St. Kilda choose with their picks. Who ever the Demons pick, I have huge faith in Jason Taylor and the rest of the Recruitment Team who I am sure will do their due diligence. -
Welcome to Demonland: Harvey Langford
Supreme_Demon replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Trade, Draft & Free Agency
Who is better though? Harvey Langford or Jagga Smith? Just in regard to pure football talent? -
Would Jagga Smith and Xavier Lindsay be the 2 best kicks in this year's AFL National Draft?
-
10 years on.... This is our most important AFL National Draft since 2014. I wish Jason Taylor all the best! 🙂

Have definitely been impressed with Brad Green's level of communication so far as interim President of the Melbourne Football Club. Hopefully all the recommendations from both Reviews can be completed in a timely manner. Lots still to do though... 1) Find a new CEO 2) Action all the recommendations in both the Board Review and the Football Department Review 3) Get our Home Base built at Caulfield Racecourse 4) Create a new Strategic Plan 5) Grow our Membership above 70,000+ 6) Win more AFL and AFLW Premierships Did I miss anything?

Who is the most elite kick in this year's draft? That's who the Demons need to look at taking.

New assistant coaches at the Demons?
Supreme_Demon replied to Supreme_Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
While it great news to have Nathan Jones and Nathan Bassett (back) at the Demons. I do feel a little bit underwhelmed. Was David Teague not interested? What's happening with Jimmy Bartel? Who will be ruck coach? Who will be strategy coach? Will we have any other assistant coaches coming to the Demons? Anyway, I am genuinely pleased at these announcements so I will shut up with any complaints. It is only the 1st of November and still early days.- 114 replies

If I was Brad Green I would be quite annoyed that these leaks have come out. Too many blabber-mouths at the Club it seems! I will wait and see what the Melbourne Football Club officially makes public from the Reviews in the next few days.

I think that this decision by Gary Pert is the best for all parties. He did a great job for numerous years at the Demons as CEO. However, for whatever reason, things sadly seemed to unravel after our Premiership glory in 2021. Was it hubris? Was it drinking our own bath water? Was it the excitable belief of a "Demons Dynasty?" Anyway, the alleged "shopping around" of Clayton Oliver this off-season and the odd falsehood saying the Demons had "the best culture he had ever seen" was probably the beginning of the end for Gary Pert. Nevertheless, I am glad he is staying on in a consultancy role for our Home Base at Caulfield Racecourse. I wish Gary Pert all the best in his future retirement. Hopefully, we choose an excellent candidate to take over as the Demon's new CEO in season 2025.

Nathan Jones joins MFC as an Assistant Coach
Supreme_Demon replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Great to have Nathan Jones back at the club! I am assuming as an assistant midfield coach? I wonder if it is worthwhile trying to get Cameron Bruce back to the Club as midfield coach? Whether or not he wishes to leave the Lions is another question altogether?! -
Who is a better kick? Jagga Smith or Harvey Langford?
-
This is a tragedy. A young life lost far too soon. I also hope the Melbourne Football Club do something to honour Jack Davey in Round 1.
-
At pick #5 I would be happy with either Harvey Langford or Jagga Smith. It all depends who is the better kick and more elite decision maker?
-
With pick #5 the Demons can see who slides down to us from the top midfielders in this year's draft. As for pick #9 it will be totally dependent upon who Richmond (pick #6) and St. Kilda (picks #7 and #8) decide to draft. St. Kilda, in particular, are very much under pressure to make their draft picks count after their recent draft failures with high picks back in 2017.

2024 Player Reviews: #25 Tom McDonald
Supreme_Demon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Same! Would be a well deserved 250 games at the Melbourne Football Club. Hope he has another excellent season in 2025! On ya Macca! 🔴🔵👹 -
I think we as Melbourne supporters can raise the funds of $100 million dollars ourselves. Obviously, some more than others, depending upon our personal financial situations. I do agree that we should have done this earlier in 2021 after our Premiership success. That was a missed opportunity. The most important thing is getting our Home Base built at Caulfield Racecourse in the next few years. Finally having a Home Base in our lifetime is just as significant (if not more) as winning an AFL Premiership at the MCG. I have faith that we can get it done!

The height of 194cm makes him pretty tempting. He is definitely a "Unicorn" as they say.... Could he be the next Marcus Bontempelli? My question is, can he also play as a tall forward as well as a midfielder?
-
Yes absolutely. I don't think Richmond are that stupid are they?! Unless Adem Yze is secretly sabotaging them! 🤣
