  1. I'm not too fussed about us now wearing the red and royal blue jumper now as our "clash" jumper. It is better than wearing the white jumper. It takes us back to the days of the mid 1970s and early to mid 1980s when we used to wear these colours. Let's just hope we can win far more games than we did in those days! For those interested here is a video link showing the new red and royal blue "clash" jumper. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/2018-01-22/clash-jumper
  2. I think Josh Schache is still a MASSIVE talent and worth the risk! Have a look at his highlights reel from back in 2015. I really hope the Demons do offer the Lions a fair trade to get him to our club. Being good friends with Clayton Oliver may help too? The more talented forwards that the Demons have the better! It may be showing my age but I remember the forward line of 1998 with Garry Lyon, David Schwarz and David Neitz as well as Jeff Farmer. Imagine the 2018 forward line of Jesse Hogan, Sam Weideman and Josh Schache as well as Jeff Garlett? Pretty impressive in my opinion!
  3. I also hope that Angus Brayshaw plays well for the Casey Demons in the VFL on the weekend in his return match. Does anybody know if he will be wearing a helmet? I know that a helmet won't protect Angus 100% but I still think it is certainly worthwhile wearing one. Angus' health and well-being needs to be paramount and I think wearing a helmet is a better option than not wearing one. Nevertheless, I hope that Angus now has a bit more luck on his side and he can eventually force his way back into the senior Demons side before the season finishes.
  4. Absolutely over the moon that Jack Trengove is back in the side! Proved a few doubters here wrong! All the hard work down at Casey has paid off! I hope he plays an absolute blinder! I personally wish Jack Trengove all the best! Hopefully there is a HUGE applause when Jack Trengove gets on to the MCG! GOOD LUCK JACK!!! WE BELIEVE IN YOU!!!
  5. The "Demon Attack" was one of my favourite videos to watch as a teenager growing up in the mid 1990s. We had such a good team in 1994 and yet we unfortunately never won a Flag! The Demons were certainly crippled by injuries in 1995, 1996 and 1997. Seriously, people forget how good a player Garry Lyon was! Both 1994 and 1998 were huge opportunities to win Premierships that we sadly missed out on because we just couldn't win those Preliminary Finals! Argghh! So frustrating!
  6. Hopefully there is a good chance that Jack Trengove will play this week against Port Adelaide. Especially with Bernie Vince now suspended for 2 weeks for his silly misdemeanor. I openly admit to being a bit of a Jack Trengove fan so fingers-crossed he DOES play this week? We believe in you Jack! I hope you play on Saturday at the MCG and prove all those doubters wrong!
  7. Personally, I would love to see Jack Trengove get a run this week? Unfortunately, he needs to truly earn a call up. We cannot gift him a spot unless we have totally run out of options. My one concern is his speed. I remember people mentioning that he is very slow and hasn't put together enough quality games in a row in the VFL. I sincerely think it would be fantastic for Jack Trengove to be able to force his way back into the Demons' side. Especially, with the current dire injury toll I have fond memories of Jack because he was a shining light during the dark days of the Bailey and Neeld eras from 2009 until 2013. The foot injury that Jack sustained was a cruel blow. Plus many of us seem to forget that he was a number 2# AFL draft pick and still has a huge amount of talent. It would be wonderful to see him out there again playing for the Melbourne Football Club on a regular basis. He was certainly too young to be made Co-Captain of the Melbourne Demons (same with Jack Grimes). As sad as it seems, if Jack Trengove cannot break his way into the Demons's side soon then I fear he will be traded or even just delisted. I wish Jack Trengove all the best and I genuinely hope to see him out there playing for the Demons in the AFL. Nothing would make me happier than to see Jack play well in the senior side and get a chance to play finals. If anyone who deserves some fortune on his side it is definitely Jack. I hope Jack (or his family and friends) reads this letter so that he knows that we are all thinking about him and want him to have success with the Demons. It would be wonderful to see Jack achieving his full potential at the Melbourne Football Club. Good luck and never give up Jack Trengove!
  8. I'm hoping we have a back of jumper sponsor announced this coming week. Maybe on Wednesday night on the Footy Show? At the very latest this coming Friday. It may sound harsh but Peter Jackson and the MFC administration have had months during the off season to organize this and to leave basically a "blank space" on the back of the jumper for the start of Round 1 will be a bit embarrassing and unprofessional. This is 2017 not the 1980s. Even a temporary sponsor or a charity like Reach or the Royal Children's Hospital or the Salvation Army would be suitable until we lock in a major sponsor for the back of the jumper. A blank space for Round 1 is absolutely not good enough. And I'm sure the AFL would say the same thing.
  9. Will sign up before the season starts in the next few days. Fingers crossed the Demons can get over 40,000+ members this year!
  10. Would like to see the Demons get a back of jumper sponsor done either tomorrow or early next week. I know I shouldn't worry, but I am getting a little anxious about it.
  11. Would absolutely love to see Jack Trengove back playing for the Demons in 2016! I wish him all the luck and happiness in the world! Imagine the MASSIVE roar of a Demons crowd at the MCG as Jack Trengove returned to run out on the MCG!
  12. Luke Williams?! Hahahaha! Probably Greg Parke and/or Ian Thorogood would be suitable to hand out the number 26# jumper to Sam Weideman perhaps? And it would be nice to keep the tradition of older MFC players handing out jumper numbers to the new Demons recruits. A little bit of tradition and nostalgia is fine I reckon. Would be pretty cool to see Allen Jakovich back at the Demons even if it was just for a jumper presentation. Allen Jakovich, Garry Lyon, David Schwarz and David Neitz as well as Jeff Farmer were some of my favourite MFC players when I was younger.
  13. Yep... Would of liked Clayton Oliver to have number 33# but it's no big deal. I'm really looking forward to seeing Christian Petracca play in number 5# for the Demons! Also would love to see both Clayton Oliver and Sam Weideman play a few AFL matches in 2016 if their form warrants it.
  14. The MFC website just posted the new jumper numbers for the players, as follows. 13# Clayton Oliver (Another red-head replacing Jordie McKenzie....I hope they get Adem Yze or even Allen Jakovich to present his jumper to him?). 26# Sam Weideman (taking the number from his school mate Christian Petracca...the only guy I remember to wear number 26# who was a pretty good player was Daniel Ward to present the jumper?). 27# Liam Hulett (perhaps have Jared Rivers or Anthony Ingerson present his jumper?). 34# Mitch King (maybe get Jeff White to present his jumper?). 42# Josh Wagner (the rookie listed player taking the number from Jake "Frank" Spencer. Perhaps get Peter Walsh to present his jumper?). 44# Joel Smith (Catergory B Rookie and son of high-flying Demon Shaun Smith. I would just have his Dad present his jumper perhaps?). 33# Jake "Frank" Spencer (showed some improvemrnt in 2015 but needs to improve his decision making and stop being so uncoordinated in his movements...maybe get Jeff Farmer in to present his jumper?). 32# Tommy Bugg (I would like to see Cameron Bruce present his jumper, if possible?). 35# Ben Kennedy (Maybe get Anthony McDonald to present the jumper?). 18# Jake "Apples" (Apple Turnover) Melksham (Hopefully Brad Green could present this jumper?). 5# Christian Petracca aka CP5 (Gotta get David "The Ox" Schwarz to present this jumper!). Anyways, I think that's all the changes for season 2016?
  15. Hello all, Just wondering if the Demons will ever have a 400 game player at the club? It would be nice? I think it MIGHT be possible eventually? At this stage it would just be enjoyable to have a few more 300 game players at the Demons. So far David Neitz (deservedly) holds our most games played record at 306 I think? Who will be the next? Seeing Dustin Fletcher for the Bombers reach 400 games this week as well as Brent Harvey for the Kangaroos reach 400 in the same season is truly wonderful for the game of football. They will join the current record holder Michael Tuck for the Hawks on 426 games and Kevin Bartlett for the Tigers on 403 games. As for the next 400 gamer after them...who knows? Maybe our very own Nathan Jones?? Nevertheless, I certainly see Nathan Jones being able to at least play 300+ games for the Demons if he keeps himself fit enough? In the end, we will just have to wait and see? All I know is that Paul Roos has had a number of 300 game players at the Swans in Jude Bolton and Adam Goodes (who is currently on 350+ games). Overall, let's just hope in a few years time we see a Melbourne premiership or two before Nathan Jones can hopefully get to 300+ games.
  16. Very happy to have Brendan McCartney at the Demons!
  17. I wouldn't mind Dion Prestia or Lynch or Dixon at the Demons. As long as it's a fair trade...
  18. Would love to get Will Minson from the Bulldogs as a ruckman. Not sure if he would come to us because of Brendan McCartney at the Demons though? If anything we need more players with better leadership and can actually KICK the football.
  19. Apparently Ron Walker is a Demons supporter and has been number 1# ticket holder a few times too?
  20. Nathan Jones is a gun player. Would love to see him win a premiership medal with the Demons. He deserves it after all these tough years. I see him winning a Fourth Best and Fairest in a row unless Dom Tyson or maybe Jack Viney have stellar years too. I hope to see Nathan Jones be our second 300 gamer (beating David Neitz on 306 matches) and play over 330+ games for the Melbourne Football Club.
  21. At least we got the big "H" for Mitch Clark. It would've been ALOT worse if we lost Clark for nothing. Either way, I will be one of many Melbourne supporters booing Mitch Clark when we play Geelong. Adding Lumumba to our half back line and midfield will help us more in the long-run. Best to move on and not worry about Mitch Clark any more until we play Geelong. I'm over all the annoyance and frustration that Mitch Clark caused us. Time to look towards the future.
  22. I wouldn't risk Jesse Hogan if his foot is still sore. He can always play against Essendon in the next NAB challenge match. As for Angus Brayshaw and Billy Stretch. I would love to see them play in a NAB challenge match. But they need to EARN their spots. Christian Petracca looked the closest to playing a NAB challenge game until his unfortunate knee injury. Either way, we need to simply be patient and let the youngsters play some good consistent matches at the Casey Scorpions before earning a chance in the Demon's senior side. I have faith in Paul Roos and the rest of the MFC coaching staff.
  23. As one poster previously mentioned, I would love to see Angus Brayshaw play 400 games too! But let him play ONE senior game for the Demons first. (Although I will admit seeing him play 350 games and winning a few Premierships would be wonderful!). Anyways, I just hope this contract extension will encourage his mate Christian Petracca to do the same?! We'll just have to wait and see I guess?
  24. Peter Jackson needs to sort this stuff out. I wasn't there today (as I'm on crutches) but I had friends go and they were bitterly disappointed with the lack of organisation and unprofessional approach in regards to the open training times. The Melbourne Football Club needs to lift it's game. It sounds harsh, but Essendon or Collingwood would not make amateur mistakes like today
  25. I put up a thread about Brendan McCartney a few weeks ago too. I am very excited about him joining the Demons as a development coach. Once I'm a bit more mobile (I am currently on crutches after recovering from knee surgery) I hope to have a brief chat to Brendan and welcome him to the Melbourne Football Club too. ☺ Having good quality football people like Brendan McCartney at our club will pay off in the long-run.
