  1. As harsh as it sounds, but the players have nobody to blame but themselves for Simon Goodwin getting sacked. If they had won more games it would have never had happened! You reap what you sow.... If the players put in stinkers over the remaining 3 rounds, then the new coach, whomever it may be, will probably show them the door. I only want players at the Melbourne Football Club who will play for the jumper. Either bleed red and blue or leave....❤️💙
  2. John Longmire deciding (for the moment) that he isn't interested in coaching the Melbourne Football Club is very disappointing. I guess we could still try to convince him? Otherwise, it's Adam Simpson or Nathan Buckley, or perhaps one of the new untried coaches? I am slowly warming towards the possibility of Nathan Buckley as coach of the Demons. But only if he has that "fire in the belly" to help us win a Premiership.
  3. All I ask is that this year's upcoming AGM has more relevant questions asked. The primary focus, besides winning more Premierships, needs to be getting our homebase built in Caulfield.
  4. He's a big strong lad is Jai Culley. Was very pleased with his first game for his beloved Demons! 🔴🔵👹 Looking forward to seeing how he goes in the remaining 3 weeks of the season.
  5. I can't answer that question without swearing. 🤣
  6. John Longmire gets the job if he wants it. But, Nathan Buckley is probably 2nd or 3rd choice. Will be interesting what Adam Simpson says too....
  7. Would be quite amusing and ironic if Nathan Buckley did end up coaching the Demons after "allegedly" supporting us as a kid. Still think John Longmire gets the job as Melbourne coach....IF....he wants it?
  8. My list of possible new Melbourne Demons coaches from top priority to the least.... 1) John Longmire - A Premiership coach and 4 grand finals - Is the man we want....but will he WANT to coach again? 2) Adam Simpson - A Premiership coach and 1 grand final - Is he the 2nd best option? 3) Nathan Buckley - I thought he wanted to coach Tasmania? But I understand he still has a burning desire to win a Premiership and has unfinished business. 4) Ken Hinkley - Too old? Perhaps better as the Football Department Manager or as a Senior Assistant Coach? 5) Justin Leppitsch - Has done excellent work since his failed attempt at Brisbane where he has been at both Richmond and Collingwood. 6) Another new coach? Cameron Bruce? Brett Montgomery? Adrian Hickmott? Chris Newman? 7) James Hird - Probably not!
  9. Whoever becomes the new coach of the Melbourne Football Club will definitely have a huge bearing on the futures of both Clayton Oliver and Christian Petracca. I am hopeful our next coach will be John Longmire. But we shall wait and see....
  10. Getting the Caulfield Homebase built needs to be the number #1 priority for Paul Guerra (after sorting out the football department). The biggest challenge is getting the $100 million or so to actually pay to see it come to fruition at Caulfield. Keep buying those lottery tickets!
  11. Fox SportsRevealed: Ex-Swans boss at top of Demons’ wishlist after...Revealed: Ex-Swans boss at top of Demons’ wishlist after sudden coach axingI am happy with the Demons targeting John Longmire. He has the most experience and would help mould a better culture at the Melbourne Football Club. However, there are 2 very important questions that need to be asked... 1) Is John Longmire cooked and far too psychologically scarred from losing Grand Finals in 2014, 2016, 2022 and 2024? 2) Would John Longmire actually WANT to coach the Melbourne Football Club?
  12. I am also deeply concerned with the reaction of the players not just this week, but for the remainder of the season. It will say alot about their true character with how they respond.
  13. I am feeling sadness, relief, disappointment, excitement but also concern. I think we all knew the writing was on the wall for Simon Goodwin. Especially after losing to St. Kilda when we were up by 46 points at 3/4 time. I think that was the straw that broke the camel's back, as they say. However, I am deeply concerned how the players will respond for the final 3 weeks. Will they "play for the jumper" or say [censored] this Club and not bother? For the older Melbourne supporters they will recall how in 1973 that many of the players were very angry and upset when Ian Ridley was sacked. He was very popular with the players and several threatened to leave the Club when it happened. With Simon Goodwin also being very popular with the players, will we see a player exodus as well? Will the Demon players "not show up" for the final 3 rounds. That is what I greatly worry about.... Anyway, we shall wait and see I guess?
  14. From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank Simon Goodwin for helping to end our 57 year Premiership drought. Something I never thought I would see in my lifetime. It brought me tears of joy in 2021. Simon will always be loved for achieving the ultimate success in winning a Flag for the Melbourne Demons. I hope he enjoys his time away and goes on a long holiday overseas. It is truly deserved! Simon Goodwin leave an indelible mark on the history of the Melbourne Football Club and if anyone who is a Melbourne member or supporter bumps into him, remember to shake his hand and thank him for our Premiership glory in 2021. You will always be a Melbourne Demons Premiership Coach, Simon! 🔴🔵👹 All the best for the future. I am sure you will find a new coaching role after you've had a bit of a holiday, Simon.
  15. John Longmire is the top priority to ask. But is he cooked? Grand Final losses in 2014, 2016, 2022 and 2024 means he panics when the pressure is it's highest. Justin Leppitsch is also a dark horse who might throw his hat in the ring. I guess it depends who WANTS to coach the Melbourne Demons?
  16. John Longmire is my choice. But we shall wait and see. We also need an entire clean out of our Football Department. Alan Richardson needs to go too. All new assistant coaches. The only ones who possibly survive would be Mark "Choco" Williams and Nathan Jones.
  17. I'm surprised it has happened now. Would of waited until the end of the season. I will be forever grateful to Simon Goodwin for ending our 57 year Premiership drought. Unfortunately, since the highs of 2021 we just couldn't win any finals and the last 2 seasons have seen disaster after disaster. Anyway, I guess we "ripped the band-aid off early". It will be interesting who our next coach will be with the options of John Longmire, Adam Simpson, Ken Hinkley, Nathan Buckley, James Hird and others possibly available.
  18. Hopefully Jai Culley plays well and kicks a goal or two. Go Demons!!! 🔴🔵👹
  19. Congratulations to Jai Culley having his debut for the Demons this week! ❤️💙 Hope he plays well against his former team the Eagles!
  20. As much as it is quite unpleasant the media blowtorch on the Melbourne Demons is probably justified this week....
  21. Any mention of the word "ruthless" at training? I'd be almost tempted to leave a huge pile of butter on the Club's doorstep with a big sign saying "soft as butter" with it. I remember way back in 2003 someone left chicken hearts at the Melbourne Football Club. It definitely angered David Neitz (you would never call him chicken hearted) at the time, but I think a repeat would actually be more fitting now after the humiliating choke against St. Kilda.
  22. Not sure if he is exactly a trade target...but Campbell Chesser from the West Coast Eagles is out of contract at the end of this season. Worth a punt?
  23. Probably temporarily disconnected due the overwhelming amount of angry and abusive phone calls they received. As for Brad Green's letter. It was definitely a case of "damned if you do, damned if you don't" but I think he had to say something. If I was Brad Green, I would be having some uncomfortable conversations with both the players and the coaching staff after such an embarrassing and humiliating choke. Losses like yesterday, aren't just damning on the coach, but definitely cause damage to membership numbers. That costs the Club a HUGE amount of money!
  24. With the season now basically over, the primary focus needs to be the Demons Home Base at Caulfield Racecourse. The new incoming MFC CEO Paul Guerra needs to make this issue his primary focus. Get it f##king built! We cannot be nomads any more! This is the only way we can have a bit of hope and see some light at the end of the tunnel for myself and many other Melbourne supporters who are suffering at the moment.
