  1. Blake Howes replacing Steven May. Would rather play Blake Howes as a wingman or forward....he is certainly not a defender.
  2. As harsh as it sounds, I am surprised Clayton Oliver wasn't dropped. His two-way running efforts were not up to AFL standard last week. I hope he greatly improves this against Fremantle on Saturday.
  3. I am excited about our young players like Xavier "X" Lindsay and Harvey "The Bison" Langford. Also hoping we see Jai Culley make an appearance in the Demons AFL side later this season. Lastly, I am excited about getting our Home Base built at Caulfield Race Course. This needs to be the TOP PRIORITY for the Melbourne Football Club Board! Get it done! ❤️💙
  4. The "hot spot" is just basically the top of the goal square. I think we were all taught to kick there if you couldn't find a player on the lead. At least I was taught that playing footy. The top of the goal square or "hot spot" is almost always the best place to kick it, especially if you kick it in there quick. Football is a very simple game. I am impressed with John Longmire explaining it though. Would love to see him as the next coach of the Melbourne Football Club.
  5. Apparently Adrian Hickmott is highly rated as an assistant coach. So he is another name put onto the potential list.
  6. Both Petracca and Oliver will be playing 200 games for the Demons this season. I am hopeful they will both play well over 300+ games for the Melbourne Football Club. However, we shall have to wait and see. I don't have a problem with Christian Petracca becoming Captain, after Max Gawn, as long as it is well deserved and chosen by his team mates. Making Christian Petracca Captain may even make him a better player.
  7. I liked angry Andy! 😁 Listening to a Demonland podcast, win or lose, is always great. But I am also very passionate at the football and I love it when I hear that passion in fellow Demons supporters too! ❤️💙
  8. That's certainly an interesting prospect. Andrew Demetriou?! I would be very surprised if he wanted to be our CEO. I can imagine he wouldn't come cheap either. However, if he wanted a final challenge before retirement then CEO of the Melbourne Football Club would definitely be it! At least you know he can get things done and has plenty of connections still at the AFL.
  9. Yes, that's true. Simon Goodwin seems confident and steadfast. I just hope he isn't delusional. There were a lot of Melbourne players pointing fingers and minding grass against Essendon. That sort of weak effort should not acceptable.
  10. Still think John Longmire is the number 1# choice. At least in my opinion. Whether or not he is genuinely interested in coaching the Demons is another matter altogether. I just think he is the highest quality candidate. While he did lose 4 Grand Finals, I think the issue was more to do with the Swans not playing regularly on the MCG. After John Longmire it's basically one of either Justin Leppitsch, Cameron Bruce or Adam Simpson. However, I never thought of Brett Ratten. He could be another possibility. Luke Beveridge is more a dark horse option. Whoever it is, they have to be capable and up for the challenge. It took us 57 years to break our Premiership drought. We never want to have to wait that long ever again!
  11. That's true. But every year there is a football department review. I am sure any new CEO would want to do a review as well. We still have fundamental issues at the Melbourne Football Club that need to be resolved.
  12. For those interested, here is Simon Goodwin's latest press conference. Make of it what you will. He believes he is confident things can be turned around. Unfortunately, as the losses mount, time will be against him.
  13. At least with Luke Beveridge our press conferences would be far more entertaining! 🤣 He is definitely an intense character Luke Beveridge. However, would he want to coach the Melbourne Football Club? Would he be interested in a new challenge? While, I am open to the possibility of Luke Beveridge being a potential candidate as our next coach, I think the TOP PRIORITY of who the Demons must target is John Longmire. John Longmire is who we need! While he only won the one flag for the Swans in 2012, he did get his team into Grand Finals 4 times in 2014, 2016, 2022 and 2024. John Longmire would bring respect and a winning culture to the Melbourne Football Club. Let's just hope John Longmire isn't totally "cooked" and is open to the idea of a fresh start and a new challenge at the Demons.
  14. I don't think it's a conflict of interest. It is common knowledge that Alistair Nicholson played over 100 games for the Demons. I hope it means he loves the Club and wants it to succeed. Just like Brendan Gale was a former Tigers player before he took over as CEO of Richmond. Being a former player has both negatives and positives. At least Alistair Nicholson will have an understanding of the Melbourne Football Club....IF he becomes CEO. Being CEO of the Melbourne Football Club would be both an exciting and extremely challenging career opportunity. Here's a list of at least some of the things a new CEO would need to achieve. 1) Deal with the Simon Goodwin situation and who will replace him as coach. This means finding a suitable high quality replacement to be the new Demons AFL coach. 2) Do an entire football department review. Replacing many positions so that we have fresh perspectives. This means bringing in new high quality football people to build a new culture of success. 3) Create a new strategic plan for the Melbourne Football Club. 4) Get the Home Base for the Melbourne Football Club built at Caulfield Race Course. This is probably the top priority for the next CEO. 5) Help create winning teams so the Melbourne Football Club wins more Premierships. Winning Premierships need to be our main purpose. 6) Grow Melbourne Demons membership numbers from around 60,000+ members to beyond 75,000+ members so we can start competing with the bigger AFL clubs to have more power and influence upon the MCC and AFL. This will only happen if we continue winning Premierships. 7) Build a united Club that has a successful winning culture emulating the "Big 4" AFL Clubs. 8) Be financially successful and continue to grow the wealth and assets of the Melbourne Football Club. 9) Attract more major sponsors to the Melbourne Football Club. There are probably other things that a new CEO will need to achieve, however, I think I have the major points covered.
  15. Will be interesting what the media vultures make of Brad Green's letter. As President he had to say something. But it's definitely a case of "damned if you do, and damned if you don't" as others have said. The pressure shouldn't just be squarely on Simon Goodwin's shoulders though. The players are paid alot of money to win in a high performance sport. If they don't perform they shouldn't get paid as much as they do.
  16. It looks like the CEO job is Alistair Nicholson's if he wants it. Nobody else seems brave enough to take on the huge challenge of CEO of the Melbourne Football Club. Is the role a poisoned chalice? At least Alistair Nicholson is a former Demon.
  17. Was good Brad Green communicated something to Melbourne members and supporters. Unfortunately, he will end up with egg on his face if Melbourne get belted by Fremantle. Sadly, I will be surprised if we have over 10,000 show up at the MCG on Saturday. Hope I am wrong though. As others have mentioned, the only relevant information in Brad Green's letter was the search for the new CEO. Hopefully, it is someone with the capable skills and experience as they have a massive job on their hands fixing all the issues at the Demons.
  18. The obsession with Peter Lawrence is getting ridiculous. But worse still is Melbourne supporters blaming eachother for our current predicament. How are we to blame? We simply support the Club and buy our memberships. To say it is our fault is utterly moronic. Peter Lawrence has had multiple opportunities to get elected to the Melbourne Football Club Board and simply didn't get enough votes. He might get elected in the future, but who knows? What Brad Green and the Melbourne Football Club Board need to be focusing on is getting a new CEO, getting our Home Base built at Caulfield Race Course and dealing with the current situation with finding a replacement for Simon Goodwin as coach and an overhaul of our entire football department. That's ALOT to deal with. What I do hope though is that the wealthier board members and Melbourne members, such as Chris Barlow (who's family is worth $1.5 billion dollars), will help financially contribute to the building of our Home Base at Caulfield Race Course. They need to put their money where their mouth is.
  19. I think Simon Goodwin will be elsewhere in 2026. Especially if we continue losing. Updated list of potential coaching candidates for the new Demons coach. 1) John Longmire (top candidate) 2) Cameron Bruce (return of the prodigal son) 3) Justin Leppitsch (wants a 2nd chance of coaching an AFL side) 4) Adam Simpson (West Coast Eagles Premiership coach from 2018) 5) Corey Enright (highly credentialed assistant coach at St. Kilda) 6) Ken Hinkley (will be looking for a new job once his tenure at Port Power finishes at the emd of this year) 7) Luke Beveridge (may get sacked if Bulldogs miss the finals) 8) Nathan Buckley (if he misses out on the Tasmanian Devils job) 9) Leon Cameron (if he wants to coach an AFL team again perhaps?) 10) James Hird (if we are absolutely desperate and can't get anyone else)
  20. I think we need to rebuild the entire football department first. Nobody is safe, including Alan Richardson and Tim Lamb. Everyone needs to be put under review and reapply for their jobs. We need fresh faces and fresh ideas.
  21. Who should we vote for? We have Steven Smith coming in to take over as President. The poor bloke might not want come back from his holidays to Europe.
  22. What is going wrong with this Club? Do the Melbourne players have any respect or loyalty for the Demons jumper?! I think Simon Goodwin's position as coach has now sadly become untenable. We need to thank Simon for the 2021 Premiership and move on. Harsh, but we gotta fix the rot that is happening. Time for a change of coach. It is just a matter of when. My most pertinent question is this, what the hell is going on with our fitness levels? Selwyn Griffith our head of fitness must come under scrutiny shouldn't he? We are either running out of steam or giving up in the 4th quarter. It is humiliating! In less than 4 years we have gone from a 57 year drought breaking Premiership team to a laughing stock! This cannot be tolerated! What ever happens this year, massive changes and, yet another, football department review is required at the end of this season. Nobody is safe. Heads must roll!
  23. Another coach killing performance. Simon Goodwin keeps repeating himself. afl.com.auFull post-match, R5: DemonsWatch Melbourne’s press conference after round five’s match against EssendonThe definition of madness is repeating the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Unfortunately, the Demons players just don't seem to respond to him anymore. They all love Goody as a mate but they don't seem to respect him very much. Otherwise, they would play with the intensity and ferocity required to win. Simon is now "delulu with no solulu" it seems. Best that he falls upon his sword and leaves rather than gets sacked. We can all then start fresh. Time to start calling John Longmire, Adam Simpson, Justin Leppitsch and other potential coaching candidates for season 2026. Time for change.
  24. Unless a miracle happens, Simon Goodwin is gone. Selwyn Griffth the head of fitness is probably gone too. Our 4th quarters are embarrassing. We just run out of steam?! I think the bloke from "The Deebrief" was quite measured with his response.
  25. Thank you for the 2021 Premiership Simon. But it's time for a fresh start. Farewell Simon.
