Melbourne - Pick #6 in the 2023 AFL National Draft: Ryley Sanders (midfielder) Melbourne - Pick #11 in the 2023 AFL National Draft: Ollie Murphy (tall defender) Anyway, we shall wait and see what happens I guess? 🤷🏼‍♂️

Fingers crossed the remaining $500,000 from the McClelland Trophy prize goes towards looking to obtain a Home Base for the Melbourne Football Club. Otherwise, towards the Football Department.

Seeing as the Melbourne Football Club has now won the McClelland Trophy. My question is, should some of that $1 million dollars go toward the setting up of our Home Base?

I hope that many Melbourne members (including myself) ask this question about a Home Base and the progress of it at the upcoming AGM. It was part of our Strategic Plan and it is vital that this objective is met. No more excuses. Just get it done!

May as well take a shot at trying to get the 2023 AFL National Draft pick #1 from West Coast. I find it extremely unlikely though. I just think North Melbourne have the right draft capital to make it happen. In the end, I am more than happy for the Demons to use draft picks #6 and #11. My choices for those 2 draft picks are as follows... ● Ryley Sanders ● Nick Watson ● Nate Caddy ● Connor O'Sullivan ● Darcy Wilson ● Ollie Murphy ● James Leake ● Caleb Windsor Would definitely be over the moon with any of those two names from that list.

Do we still need another experienced ruckman as back-up for Max Gawn? Will Tom Fullarton be enough? I would be looking at Scott Lycett from Port Adelaide if we are looking for more back-up. Otherwise, I think former number #1 mid season draft pick Jacob Edwards from North Melbourne is worth giving a 2nd chance to.

I was gonna make a joke about Krispy Kreme donuts but that's a bit mean. 🤐 I actually think Stuart Dew would be a very handy acquisition to the Demons coaching panel.

It will be interesting what jumper number they give to Tom Fullarton? At the moment there are plenty to choose from. With the options being; #4, #6, #14, #23, #27, #34, #39, #44, #46, #47, #48 and #49.

Mitch Clark had jumper number #11 as I recall. But yes, it would be nice for a new Demons player to have jumper number #6 for a significant amount of time. Jack Billings wore jumper number #15. So therefore, he could possibly move to #14 or to whatever number is available.

What's happened to Stuart Dew I wonder? 🤔 As far as I know, he hasn't obtained a new coaching role yet.

Happy with the Demons getting Jack Billings from the Saints. He is a good ball user and can kick goals. Will be a handy acquisition for our forward line and midfield.

Any further updates on our Home Base? Is it a "green light" for the Caulfield Racecourse?

I am happy with either trying to obtain pick #1 to draft Harley Reid or keeping our early round draft picks for other young talent. It would be kinda funny if the Eagles chose the Demons over the Kangaroos in a "mega deal" just in spite. 🤣 Quite entertaining all of this. A bit disappointing that the Brodie Grundy trade didn't work out. Many of us had high hopes.....but oh well! 🤷🏼‍♂️ As for the trade of pick #46 and a future 2nd round pick for Brodie Grundy. Talk about getting screwed! I would of preferred a lower pick. But it is what it is I guess? I wish Brodie Grundy all the best (except against Melbourne).

If we end up getting him in a trade, you would think Shane McAdam may want jumper number #23? Which is the same number he has worn at the Adelaide Crows.

The most pertinent question is.... How good a kick is he? Is Jack Billings an elite user of the ball?

I watched the live stream. Which was mainly pretty good. As expected, Christian Petracca wins his 2nd Keith "Bluey" Truscott Memorial Trophy. Thought it would be a lot closer with Jack Viney though. Heard the word "Culture" a dozen or more times which is good. I am assuming that some of that is a subtle reminder to Clayton Oliver. But I am sure he got lots of love and well wishes this evening. We all love and support Clarrie and obviously want him to do well. Steven May, absolutely brilliant speech! He said exactly what we were all thinking! We are better than [censored] Collingwood! Let's beat them next year! Hopefully Clarrie and the rest of team is inspired by the classic Ron Barassi quote repeated by Simon Goodwin which is "if it is to be, it is up to me!" Let's win that Premiership on the MCG next year Demons!

Disappointing to see James Jordon leave. But I totally understand his situation. He wants to play more midfielder minutes for an AFL Club. Greatful of all he did as a Demon and as a substitute who unfortunately never got onto the ground in the Grand Final for the 2021 AFL Premiership. That was a shame. But at least he received a Premiership Medallion! Definitely a handy player for us! I wish "JJ" all the best for the future (except against the Demons) at his new home over at the Swans.

Not sure if Trent Bianco from the Magpies has been offered a new contract yet. I recall him having pretty impressive kicking skills. Perhaps worth a shot if he ends up being a delisted free agent?
