Thanks Tarax. At least they were working on their kicking, and even if they are just capturing video they can review it, work out what has to change, and get on with it. Hopefully Todd cab see what is going on and advise, rather than needing to be a expert himself. How many of Tiger Wood’s coaches have won a masters?

Lots to like in this. Some great ‘welcome back’s’ and one important ‘welcome’! Looking forward to them all getting through safely, and pushing for senior selection.

Three really good additions. Hopefully they add some experience, polish and skill in their three respective roles. We might see up to 11 changes from round 8-9 to round 12-13.

Considering our skills, I think we rarely get the chance to use them with our current ‘rush at all costs’ philosophy. Right now, we rush TOO MUCH. We hit opposition players, kick to the non-advantage side of contests and miss moving targets. The rush at all costs mantra looks great when we pull it off, but most of the time we could use the 1/2 a second more to improve our outcome without negative consequences. Salem is #1 in skills for mine. I think Lever is also very good, and down forward TMAC has been good as a set shot, and Fritsch has shown some serious quality. If they were told to slow it down a bit more, we might get a different perspective on some of these guys.

Some thoughts: Play TMAC back, put Frost on the wing, and bring in Weids to partner smith in the 50. TMac out if he cant run (looked like he really struggled against the giants) Trac and Brayshaw to play High HF roles, to deliver inside 50. Mids of Max, Viney Oliver Harmes and Jones (as relief/burst rotating with Brayshaw). Harmes to run with as needed. I would have said Lewis back in, but he is rubbed out. We could use Lever in this role to cut his teeth back in the seniors until he is ready to become the focal defender. Would be a good balance with Hore and Lever intercept marking, and TMAC and OMac locking down. Salem straight back in. Garlett under the pump. Gotta stop the cute kicks, and just do the basics well (drop punts). Hunt and maybe ANB close to goal. Petty and probably spargo straight out. Stretch - either play on fast, or go back to Casey. You are killing is by slowing the game every time you get the ball.

So true. It felt like we really regressed, and I bet our numbers will show this. We were poor by hand and foot, struggled to take a contested mark, and showed no defensive system that connected to anything forward of the ball. Complete turn around from the Eagles game. Without Max in the first half, and Viney willing himself to every contest in the second and third, we would have been smashed - worse than we were. Nothing learned, nothing executed.

Thanks for running that, Rusty. At 3 quarter time, version A was on the money. We were nowhere good enough for version B, but it showed the influence of the blues game.

Sheesh! The kid hasn’t even pulled on a jumper for a photo and you guys are all over him like STD on a flight attendant. He does something that we haven’t done this year - kick goals from 50 and hit up inside 50 targets to advantage. Slow? Says who? Give the kid a break.

The three nuftis were in the bar surrounded by police officers at 3qtr time, getting details taken etc.

We were so poor, it was not funny. In the first half, Max Gawn almost alone carried the team. He was best on at half time. In the second quarter and the third, Viney willed himself into every contest. I sometimes feel he is a one trick pony, but you could see the effort he was making to change things up. After this, the overall performance was poor. Skills were atrocious. We cannot take an uncontested mark, and for us a contested mark (apart from Max) is like a mythical unicorn. Hore tried hard. Our ability to hit a target was simply second rate. Stretch loves to stop and go back to take his kick. Every time. There were fast options on, and he ignored them and allowed the Giants time to set up defensively. We were smashed in the midfield. With Max offering silver service, we were simply poor around every contest. The umpires only hate Mumford more than us, which means Mummy gave up frees, and apart from this we went unrewarded all day. However, we didnt deserve any charity. The defensive unit was on a hiding to nothing. The spread and coverage upfield meant these guys we always out of position and running second. We applied so little pressure, and they ran around us, all damned day. It was a mix of lack of effort and lack of talent. Why cant we perform inside 50? In 9 weeks, we still have no idea how to find a forward or kick a goal. What is going on, when you clear all of the BS and ‘connection’ messages from Goody, what else is going so wrong, that we simply cannot perform up to any standard forward of the ball? There are massive problems here. On the plus side, Baker showed something, and could be our small forward. Garlett tried hard, but has been taking kicking lessons from Petracca. We were flattered by the final score line today. Pathetic.
