  1. Waiting for Gandalf and Bilbo to set out on an adventure
  2. Would suggest he was completely fatigued. The rest of the team were, too, but perhaps his ‘indicators’ showed that he was cooked for that game??
  3. Guy Walker is a standout. He will stand out most of the season, apparently (poor kid).
  4. Dunn suited our old game plan, and was a perfect fit for the filth. Round the boundary here we come! He was a liability at the end of his career with us, and couldn’t crack the firsts. Good luck to him for prospering in a system that plays the way he knows. Howe? OK, seemed to want to get to the pies and we were just a stepping stone. Now he is there, where will he lead them? Is flying for everything a leadership trait? Seems like it is more about him. But honestly, good luck to them. I suppose they are leaders compared to half the other muppets they have on their list. Suggest we stick to our own knitting and win a flag before belittling the less fortunate.
  5. We should win based on where we both ended up last year, but this is a new year. Our entry into 50 has been average at best, and our best defence is not on the park, and we have lacked man on man pressure. Hopefully the JLT was us testing little things and doesnt represent our real game play. The scratch match against Collingwood was a better overall style of play. My big concerns: Hore doing kickout duties. Preuss?? Ability to man on man in the 666 setup in defence. Viney being cherry ripe. Port should be average, particularly with their injuries. Its up to us to blow it by not having our head in the game siren to siren.
  6. As I recall, he plays small defender (rebound/runner) , not so much a Nev 'lockdown' defender type. Could see him being cover for Lewis, and he could also put pressure on Hunt. In a couple of games he played further up the ground, including in attack where he got a few goals. Seemed good over the ball, and looked to have a good (accurate) passing kick in traffic. More workmanlike than mercurial from what I saw, but a really solid small footballer. Well worth the pick up. Think we have ruck covered with Max/Preuss/Keilty (Bradtke too green), and we seemed to lack quality in the flank / run and distribute role, and unless Hunt finds his best headband, could be an inspired pickup.
  7. Can someone post the mumford one, and the May one, please? The comparison would be enlightening...
  8. Ridiculous. No contact with the head. Little fella bounced of big fella. should we appeal?
  9. They might be better having 4 screens - one at each point where the 50 arc touches the boundary. Imagine trying to see the board from the far pockets, whilst trying to not let your opponent give you the slip. A single board at the interchange is rubbish. Even better is to have then installed around the grounds. For home ground advantage, the boundary signage for our home games could simply have the symbols whizz around the ground and flash so they cannot be missed
  10. Dislike : Robbo like: any one that thinks Robbo is a [censored]
  11. Keilty did a really serviceable job in the ruck, he got some nice taps and got some good second efforts to help us get clearances. Did himself plenty of favours, I would think. our biggest issue was being lazy in transition. We would win a contest then not be precise enough with ball delivery to capitalise. Both exiting 50, and or entry to i50. Hore should not kick in. Takes a nice intercept mark, but is not that player. Frost makes key mistakes and the upside is not big enough to cover these. Headless chook moments need to be reduced. Trac’s set shot was a stinker, but his snap from further out was sublime. i didn’t keep across rotations, so don’t know if he was missing or resting, or whatever. Also when we play putrid footy for 2 quarters, unless you are running him through the middle he is the sort of player who would be missing. TMac did not look 100%. our clearance work and contested ball was still good, and our midfield set looks very strong (and deep). We may need better 1:1 work to allow this to shine. The new rules will see more 1:1 contests rather than chaos scrums, so we will need to push hard to make contests so we can play to our strengths. Sagging off will cost big time this year.
  12. When you prefer Le Miz to Phantom of the opera.
  13. Swap Preuss for Max and see what happens. Chalk and cheese. Preuss couldn’t even run from one flank to another to make a throw in. Our skills in finding targets through the middle and into half toward is poor. Second stringers making lots of errors. Forward pressure is not good enough. There are no points on offer, thank god.
  14. A lot of second tier players not pushing for the firsts with this effort,
  15. I’m glad that he didn’t. I would hate to have to call our coach an [censored]-hole.
  16. And we should have clear goals what we want to see, particularly setting certain players clear KPIs for the day. No points on offer, but a chance to set ourselves up for the year. You cant win the flag in March, but you can lose it. Systems and processes training, match fitness, and better defining Rd 1 Werridee’s best 22. After that, look good enough to bag some more memberships as people climb on board!
  17. Good ball movement by both teams. North are a good outfit, will need to play well in the last to get the chocolates
  18. It was an interesting game to watch, and good to have Pert and Josh available for fair chunks of the game. Video/Audio not great at times. Rusty early, but began to get some structures working after about 15 minutes. Close work looked good, fast hands and releasing from packs generally good. More kicking and marking when we had the ball, and some good line breaking at half back and wings. Forward setup looks dangerous, and the idea of twin smiths, weid and Preuss looks like it could be hard to match up against. Add in a TMac instead of a Smith and hooly-Dooley. Back end looked OK. WIll be much better with May and Lever. Hore looked OK, OMac solid, Frost...still Frost. Nice movement from Hunt was appreciated, and Lewis not done for yet. Will pressure others to work for their spots. Vanders laid a ripping tackle, and was a solid player. Gus dominated about 2 quarters, and Sparrow not out of place (but definitely not fully polished yet). JKH worked hard and did well, Salem good. Trac’s hands are quicksilver. Jeffy got 1, but not much else to show for his day. Preuss cramped late, but presented strongly and will be a good addition in some games. Max was simply brilliant in his positioning and marking. I like the setup of Max and Preuss at their kick ins, seemed to work well for us. Blocking the 45 degree channels (Pies hate the corridor) with big bodies was great Lots to work on, but a good first hit out.
  19. These may be gimmicks for well organised teams. However, the runner has been almost an in-game coach, particularly in newer teams or cellar dwellars. Getting kids to run to the right spots, or to initiate certain plays. With runners to spend less time on the ground, bottom teams will benefit, whereas well drilled and well led teams not so much. Think of the games where we should have flooded behind the ball, didn't and it cost us a close one. Now McCartney could put up on the board 'X", 'squirrel' 'eggplant' and the team would know what to do. I hope it is of little benefit to us, and that we have leaders in every line that know what needs to get done. Perhaps it could be useful to signal rotations?? And do we really want the players all looking for the magic symbols to see what needs to get done, or simply get the footy and follow the plan? Otherwise, it will be an annoyance. I hate to think how toss heads like Ling will wax on about whatever symbol is on the board. I hate 7's team, and this will give them something more to spout on about that is not the game.
  20. I like that we have asked the umps to give everything against us, to make this a little more challenging for us!
  21. Mike three works...
  22. My feeling exactly.
  23. I think management saw how we were playing and pulled the plug!
  24. Simply roll someone across into this space. If they bring their opponent, you make an overcrowded choke point. Or you play someone who can run with him and give him no time when he gets it. He struggles from 45+ (with a couple of exceptions), so push him right out and give him no space in 0-35m.
