  1. I wonder how much ‘off the ball’ actions us fans don’t see really impact matches. What should we look for?
  2. What is our current draft hand in this year’s draft? I seem to recall no first, and hawks second rounder, and about 20 4th rounders?
  3. They have NFI. A team needs depth to be successful. Especially through the eh midfield and at least one high quality backup to the key posts. All of those trades would be simply ridiculous unless they delivered better against our needs
  4. Especially the special characters!
  5. I just walked in to the Saints v Bum holes. Ess kicked the ball back and forth like they were protecting a lead. I was surprised to see them 20 point behind half way through the third. They turned it over for a goal. Absolute rabble
  6. I think they are different types of players, BBO. I could see Bedford replacing Kozzie, but it would probably be a high flanker that would have to go out for Bennell. Harley is high on ‘Silky acts’ and less on ‘pressure acts’. Kozzie slipped a lot in the conditions yesterday, but gee he gets to the right places a lot. When it all clicks... I would only rest him if it is on fitness grounds (he doesn’t come up).
  7. Almost spot on with your prediction! 77%
  8. Interesting to note the time on ground stats. Big Preuss had 77% TOG whereas Max has about 110% (really about 95%). I wondered where he had gone in the third, when it looked like TMac did almost all the rucking? Also Sparrow, Lockhart and Spargo also in the low 70s. From what I am reading, most collingwood fans were at about 75% time at ground as they were leaving at 3/4 time!
  9. Makes it clear he had some things to work on to get back in the team. He has done so and it has fuelled the fires to be competitive and stay in the squad. Used May to help him get better (ie, develop, for those who say we don't develop players). Also great leadership shown by May and Lever to help him on his path. Now leading the marks inside 50/game stat. A nice article.
  10. Sounds like a day well planned. I just hope no one spits on you as you walk through the car park singing “its a grand old flag” after the game!
  11. I feel dirty looking at the Collingwood twitter feed. Will wait for a club report...
  12. So, this will be Collingwood’s ‘get smashed’ game. I Reckon they will manage 2.5 With plenty of umpire assistance. We will kick >60 points, meaning we are looking at 35-40 point win. They are rushing back a number of players and are missing some really important others. If we can take our belief from the last few games, and play all four quarters, we can take this. Our setup behind the ball has to be impeccable, and we will run over the top of them in the last (or earlier if they just give up the ghost). Preuss has so much to prove, and if Viney rotates with Gus and Oliver through the half forward role, this should work a treat. TMAC to be the contested marking target, Weid the leading marking target. Go Dees, beers are in the fridge ready to go!
  13. Except when it is being done upon them...
  14. It’s a crazy season. Each week one team looks like champions and another like chumps...then it all changes about the following week!
  15. He’s not the messiah, he’s just a very naughty boy (for getting injured!). He has really adapted well to the big time, and has a long future. If it is a hammy, must have been done in training because he seemed to run the game out well ???? Leaves room for TMac in the side. Preuss in if Max doesnt get up.. or pull out a Bradtke to set the cat amongst the pigeons!
  16. I think this is a good approach - it allows a sense of in game performance on these metrics as well as the abstraction to the season average.
  17. If I had no teeth and time-share on a brain cell (from Collingwood), I would rest Grundy if Gawn didn't play. They have a real problem with talls, and you would see Cox or Cameron in the middle. Maybe even Dunn in the ruck!
  18. Headline should read “Wallace stunts own development by listening to what comes out of his own mouth.”
  19. Nope to all of that. Sparrow is emerging, Viney is VC and a rock (he would have to want to walk). We are probably going to have to reduce lists before we even get started, so we should look to keep the core and emerging talent. Also I think you undervalue the talent that others want to hang onto. Perryman, Williams, laird will all be big coin gets. Be lucky to land one of.
  20. Interesting there is little love for Harley to be shoehorned back in to the team....
  21. TMac laid 7 tackles, but it looked like the message was that if you were his opponent, to immediately run and carry. It showed up his decided lack of pace. TMac at CHF, max dropping back behind the ball and Weid/Jacko forward could work, depending upon conditions. Who do we drop to try it? You would think that Jack Viney and Max are automatic ins if available. Then it comes down to who goes out/gets rested. Hard to pick at this stage.
  22. I think the title will be ‘Dunn and Dunner’
  23. Don’t we have a second round pick ties to the Dorks? Long may they plummet down the ladder....
  24. Rewatching the game, a few additional thoughts. North were terrible. We could have smashed them off the park with accurate goal kicking. It is lucky it didnt matter. Tommo and Spargo really played their roles. Tommo served as a cutout target, connected well and was solid defensively on the wing. Best not playing as a permanent back, though. Spargo worked hard and delivered the ball i50 with quality kicks. He worked hard, got into good positions and I thought did a good job. AVB - again, he was tough at the contest and got into good positions, his turnovers and brain fades are worrying. Jones. Spread really well. Created width going forward on a number of occasions to good effect. Got in the way in the middle a few times, but the spread was good. has slowed down half a cog. Kozzi =pencil him in for rising star nomination, That was an impressive game. Jason Taylor - take a bow, Rivers, Kozzi and Jacko were outstanding for first year player Good signs. Nice to have two training runs in Adelaide before we face the Pies and get on with the rest of the season. Umpires. First quarter was a disgrace. After that, they essentially put the Whistle away. Hope they stay in Adelaide and away from us.
  25. My hope is that the umps have copped a heap in the press about how they didnt look after max. MAybe it tickles a little unconscious bias and we get the rub of the green tonight ?? (cue wishful thinking music...)
