Brisbane set up perfectly to beat us in the middle, and it took until 1/2 time to start to crack the code. They played off our midfield, ring fenced our midfield and squeezed the ball out of our midfielders. It worked a treat and they won the clearances significantly. The bollocking of Viney and the better work of Oliver certainty turned things around. Brayshaw not so much, and Petracca was shaded versus last week. Our game relies on us winning in the contest. Our backline was phenomenal to keep us in it until we switched things up.

Such a Melbourne loss. So many ways we could have won, but just couldn’t. The misses were so costly, but they missed several as well. I liked the fact that we didnt give up, we reset at the contest where we were being smashed. Viney willed us forward, what a legend! I like the move of Harmes into vdb’s role and Frittata to the wing. I think that covers these off and allows other decisions. With Stef Martin out, that changes their balance. Big O has done ok, but Max should chew him a new one.

We haven’t seen them for a reason. Injured, developing, depth or others in front of them. With so many injuries last year, more got a look in when perhaps they were not ready. Now we are in a good spot, these guys need to prove they deserve a spot. also, on drafting guys who don’t get a game elsewhere, why the fascination with other’s junk? We gotta beat these muppets. they over stack the space behind the ball if you give them time- often 5 additional players in their d50. We gotta go fast when we get a turnover and look for space. Wings will be critical to hold width. hawks will look to possess with lots of uncontested marks. Gotta make everything a contest and hard two way running. need great delivery to fast moving forwards. Hawks backline can’t compete on pace, only height. Gotta have good leads and strong follow up at the contest. i think we will win by 26 points.
