  1. Ill let you in on a little secret method of enjoying life a lot more...and keeping your heartrate lower. Stop worrying about the Dees. Im sure some will see this as heresy but ...detach. Ive followed our Mighty ( and not so mighty ) Demons for well over 50 years since hitting these shores. There was once a time my whole demeanor...my happiness...my outlook balanced on the fortunes of the Red and Blue. And the a lightbulb monent ..not all that many years ago ....they dont matter. Not in a real way. They dont pay my bills ( quite the opposite ) they don't do any work for me, they provide very little real satisfaction (over time ) .... it's just footy... theyre justca club. The one i chose and stick with. Apparently they owe us nothing...and i understand that. In return I follow them. Go to games im interested in... don't clash with something else that will give me pleasure etc ( eg am off to China with family and friends..will miss the Pies..maybe a bar in Beijing...if not...not fussed ) The real point is....nothing I can do actually affects a change of outcome. I most certainly want us to win. Id love a flag. Not me that will do that. So ....Dee-invest of yourselves. Enjoy life.. unshackle yourself emotionally from it...Just....be you....in Red and Blue....or Jeans and a hoody....or fav Tweed jacket lol So why worry.....be happy Go Dees
  2. How does that actually work as a metric. What value can be given ? What result is noted ?How is it used ?
  3. I understand....but a bit of me wants to win without him. The Viney factor is a bit like our eternal idea of a Silver Bullet. We need a list and plan(s) to be ultra competitive and successful irregardless of who's playing. We must stop relying on individuals...we need a team that can rely on each other. Just happy for JV to play a bit... unscathed. Come in better prepared. He hasn't been in the past.
  4. A much more useful stat is the ladder. It takes into account all metrics. Its better to win qtrs than lose... But you can win just one qtr and win a game Something for the PowerPoint brigade perhaps ?
  5. There's an article in the Hun purporting a 12 week mini rebuild miracle. Oh they're a lucky team at Hawthorn ?
  6. If you watch carefully...he quite often spreads....but not to any usuable position. Mind you ..and it might well be why he's still out there....that might be by directive. In drills we did A B and C ( personally not that convinced about B let alone C) So he's going where told ?Much better players will intepret ...using footy nous... attention to weather... noting what opposition is doing. Reading the play . For a supposed outside link player...i just dont see a lot of "right". A big problem about adhering resolutely and steadfastly to an order.....is the other side dont give a shlt.. For someone who job is to 'linkup' he spends an awful lot of the game running around not achieving much. This actually comes back to Goodwin. His plan cant be so inflexible that he limits intuition. He seems to have pared back the 'everyone at the ball' and rolling scrum shenanigans .
  7. Yes he's played footy. I think he was very lucky....kinda tarred with similar brush as fellow Glenelger Stretch. Neither in my opinion top 22. Alex supposedly an inside guy....not ar AFL he ain't. As an outside guy hes a brilliant athlete. Good runner. He hasn't the intuitive style...he often runs to when he shouldn't. As a footballer hes an excellent runner. Look at teams that succeed. They choose Footy Players, FIRST criteria. Its ok that many have varying opinions.
  8. I cant be stuffed finding the actual post...but i seem to remember last season with a certain player out of favour that i suggested "it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he was playing elsewhere next season (this season ) " and he is. Im going to say exactly that again re Hunt. I doubt hell be at Melb in 2019. Hope im wrong. There's a lot to play out this year...only some on the ground. Go Dees
  9. Not too hard to work out I'd have thought. Any fiscal returns/costs appear in those things called Ledger's. They operate to FY Seasonal figures of membership are just that ... from one cut off to another...and even then its really the number accumulated in season...from EOS to EOS...The Afl will publish at the cut off...not EOS In effect there are 3 versions of membership tally...depends how used and reported. Clear as mud.
  10. Ive worked out how you manage all of this Barney
  11. I understand why...just not a fan. Go Dees
  12. I suspect Clarko runs to a very different mantra to Goody.
  13. You taking the Michael surely. He, whilst obviously a little rattled , had got back to his feet...hand presence of mind for a little bro tapwith Tommy.. swaggers past idiot Carlisle...and lairises with a silly inappropriate kick. You know.. some things just are.. and he stuffed up. That was a monty 7 days a week. There's two aspects to the event, Carlisle's dog act.....and Jesse kicking like one
  14. Precocious ability...needs direction and application. We all know its there.. ability....am sure Christian would tell you as much At some point, hopefully, the penny drops. He'll eat a game and spit it out. . He's a tad frustrating.
  15. I think a problem for many, certainly myself , is Ive never really seen much of Nibbler to suggest he's that good a footballer. He's a standout athlete...playing in an elite level football team, but that and of itself does not qualify anyone as a good footballer. He does a few cameo footy things from time to time but in the main fluffs things as you might imagine a fish out of water to do. Good football teams are made up of .... strangely enough....good footballers. Good footballers possess that 'good footy brain' and have football skills. You can get away without these so much at lesser levels. If we as a club want to experience success. Build a FOOTBALL team. Not an athletics club.
  16. Im sure he's not either. So is his role a Stats collector. ? I'm intrigued. For a lot of effort..... and it's there....im f'd if i can see his current value. Fair enough ....my view's irrelevant to the club. ( I'll lose sleep........ )
  17. Smoke and mirrors...headless chook running half the time. The metric is plainly wrong...
  18. Red...they keep this silliness up and Jayden will be looking at the door eos
  19. Hunt's the new whipping boy obviously Nibbler can do no wrong.,.... can't do much right save run around !! Mind boggles.
  20. A tale of two Christians . One a very good up and coming Demon The other a very confused and illogical buffoon. Pick who's who
  21. In largers spaces your kicking game has to be pretty spot on... skilled accuracy. Otherwise you're just creating needless contests or turnovers. Either way your momentum goes to poo.
  22. Thats just this side of Glib if you don't mind umpire...in so much as a lot of criticism leveled against Oscar was quite valid. It was then beholden upon the lad to build and step up. Essentially the onus is on Oscar. By the same measure he has improved, is still improving. He's now actually an OK defender...not brilliant...thats a whole other level. Hope he continues his progression. That doesn't discount the validity of some critique last( and previous ) season.
