  1. Colin Garland ?? He's a keeper !! enuff said
  2. I can recall, like we all do hearing the raps given this guy when we recruited him last year. I was looking forward to seeing him in the flesh, watch him play a little footy so I could get a feel for whether its all hype ??..or he might be something !! Have seen him at TBO and in Red and Blue and he does have SOMETHING !! You can sense hes just finding his measure at the moment and probably not in parts of the paddcok he prefers..Another preseason.. no more school books to worry over.. and I think 2009 will be something in deed for this guy. He's a NAB risng star nominee for certain... and might give it a bit of a tilt as well One to watch...and enjoy !! )
  3. I'd really like to believe that...would be marvellous if the Old Rivers' Man came back to play... can you get in writing OMR ?? Id sleep happier !!
  4. With all due respect Rogue..cr@p !!! Ledgers are ledgers.. facts are facts ..You do your sums and you arrive at an answer..period !! What this immediately raises in my mind....is who knew what..and what wasnt being allowed natural sunlight ?? Someones been telling porkies.... and thats not allowed !!...in fact ..its very very naughty !! Someone needs to accont for this.
  5. Deeluded.. what you say may eventually ring true. Some ( theres that word again ..lol ) may pick up the pace and 'get with the plan'. Im just not actually convince he's got the smarts for it. he ought to be a lot cluier than he demonstrates by now..but als that wil lbe put down by many and different strokes for different folks etc..each in their own time and apparently we have all of creation to wait til these lads bring their A game to the ground week in week out ( not a dig at you btw..lol ) For mine CJ is on a list of perform or go home.. Just as many will be un-cloggeed this year.. he may well find hinself staring down the barrel come end of next season if he doesnt produce and it doesnt really matter why he doesnt. If thats the case. I mean...are we running a convalescence home or attempting a competitive AFL team ?? I wonder sometimes !!
  6. Apparently the Filth quite like theirs !!!
  7. I can recall decent numbers at Melbourne finals games in the 80's 90's .. and also 2000 GF... As others allude.. .success breeds interest.
  8. I wonder if these 'designers" are familiar with " Less is More " !!!
  9. Some thoughts re CJ Has Some ability, plays Some games and been around quite SOME time !! Something has to give....or Someone !!
  10. I dont get this either.. Isnt there one capable b@st@rd who knows how to read a ledger..They are only numbers..Its not really THAT HARD!!..You add up one column.. deduct the other..its either black or red..and its a finite entity. Financials are not a black science..its basic maths ..nothing more..nothing less ffs !!
  11. I do hear your thinkings here. The clash jumper..is a clash jumper..it has a function to fulfill. Whilst an opportunity to put on a slightly different face I think there are still many many areas where the Demon Imagery is better suited. This paraphanalia and product ought to do enough ( if done well) to sate nay yongens heart's desie for all things DEMON Personally I like a footbal jumper to be a footbal jumper..not a calamitous collision of efforts neither accomplsihing as a roving billboard or a contrasting player's apparel. I think we can do both..promote the MFC and the fact we're Demons...just dont do it with a 'corny' jumper !! Players cant surely fell a lot of pride wearing somethig that looks like Reject Shop's pajamas !!
  12. Id be inclined to stand in line with Nasher on this guy. Johnson arrives at club with some fanfare and genuine promise based upon some real talent. 5 YEARS LATER !! what do we have ??..To be quite frank...not a lot. He shows some moments of genuine ability...but moments alone dont make an AFL player...more importantly...not a player that can contribute to lift a mediocre performing club to competitive. He seems a member of a band of blokes at Melbourne who could carve out more than handy VFL careers . Either he steps up in 09 and plays real footy properly or he keeps walking to the carpark. Im increasingly frustrated by these types of guys at Melbourne. What is the point in having, let alone persistig with anyone who can play a "little" footy?? what does this gain ?? Sure put 40 of them on the pitch and we have a useful team, unfortunately youre only allowed 18 !! <_< Not at all convinced about this guy...would rather any worth he has is invested in someone else..He's had his dash for mine.
  13. Would have thought 27 was old for a team with no window opening any time soon.. Probably suits Bullies of possibly dare I say it the Filth...Would have been a bonus for the Sainters tonight Not a lot of sense coming here....just at the present.
  14. Keep in mind...football... has been around a while...just a tad longer than us apparently *wink*. That which sticks with the hearts of the football follower eminates from his/her understanding and appreciation of this game. Why a "need to go 'modern. I cant recall recall too many designs that have attempted a "popualrist's" inflection that have lasted any distance nor garnered any respect. In reality those (designs ) that stay with the supporters are those built upon the traditions of the respective club. They have credibility. This is only an observation...not a criticism we ARE the M F C !!
  15. I dont particularly try to be pessimistic. Im jsut a hard and fast realist..I have no coloured glasses. I see things exactly for what they are..Sometimes I may wish them different but that doesnt take away from the underlying ackowledgements !! He may well yet climb to lofty heights.. I just wont expect it !! Happy if he does
  16. Injury conspired to prevent him getting off the blocks as quick as we'd have liked; how familiar a story at Melbourne. Is this a New pre requirement now at Deeland ? Still once he did get going his ability started to require that he be taken seriously. To be honest I simply havent seen enough of him under fire to form anything close to a balanced opinion.. By all reports and what little I have seen he seems the goods. An uninterupted preparation for season 09 ought to get him up and running in a manner closer to our expectations and then I suppose the rest will be up to him. You do get the sense that after a very disappointing season ( Melbourne's ) that Bailey's team of 09 will have a different look than this year's and I suspect players of the ilk of Grimes will feature prominantly.
  17. I like this bloke..and yet he concerns me. Here we have yet another member of what is quickly becoming an elite club within a club, a band of players at Melbourne who through injury and ongoing fitness concerns may never really light up the way they were intended. Id like him to return to his career path as it was, to develop and really turn on some games.. Id like him to. Im just not sure if he will get to . Interested to see his progress though the perseason etc and see where he comes up to at the start of 09.
  18. ahhh...reckon we've all had a bit of a hand in this
  19. Wonder if Lovett is looking for a new gig ??
  20. I dont mind the emphasised logo..Its prety much as I had it..but a bit more obvious.. I dont mind it.. But happy to lose it ) I am terribly biased but I like the RED/blue jumper with MFC logo..it just ticks the boxes for me.. It screams FOOTY !! Its our colours..not a mish mash...ANd its got a link to our clubs history with a slightly up to date twist. I actually think players would like to wear it..as opposed to the pajama efforts etc. Still.. be interesting to see what we actually GET !!
  21. Dunn.... seems able to do one thing...not so bad.. Can do another thing..pretty fair. Now all he needs to do is try and get it together as a more complete and accomplished player. Dunn..sorta there...sorta not !!
  22. lol...Silly Me.. Even Im gettig confused.. I see what you ar on about now.. Locally East Seaford Reserve is called Belvedere at times..because of one of the schools nearby.. The OTHER Belvedere....yes..tucked away huh
  23. Hardly..Belvedere parl al but faces Seaford Road..and straight onto Freeway..easy.. Of course we might be waiting a whiles on this one Kingston are a strange bunch...once contracted to them.. enuff said
  24. different I confess am a bit of a traditionalist when comes footy's look !!
