People forget these are deals often hanging together like spider webs...all reliant upon this bloke or that bloke doing this or that..as long as some other bloke agrees..and on it goes.. These are big career decisions for these fellas.. A lot of heart wrenching, second thoughts..disappointment etc Like a house of cards ..often when one deal goes south...half a dozen follow suit and then it depends if enough time is available to string a last minute effort together. All tenuous stuff..built upon gosamer !! Melbourne ought to be in the thick of it this year...with our selections...our needs and everyone edgy about the ability to stockpile kids for the future as result of GC. In the vogue of your writing I might suggest that the very value that a Naming sponsor type would seek is actually IN the identity of the name MELBOURNE and as such to remove it is to dilute its actual value to a third party. They might as wel be from Ballaarat etc.. The power of th association is created from the history and longevity of the club..To then hide behind a veil makes no sense ( arguably to me ..lol ) We start diluting the name..we then move on to locale.. then to its foundations..and before you know it ..we might be anywhere because it doesnt matter..and it wouldnt in that scenario. That cant be good. No argument about the money
