  1. Actually you're dead right . Dunn will probably be on hodge ... I wonder by who's design , ours or theirs
  2. If we do end up there .. So be it .. And you'd make best fist of it . Keep in mind well have shortest recovery being the very last game. The tenet is... How do we really rank given such miniscule margins against the eq flag fav? Are we maybe really a year ahead of where we thought we would be at 2010 end
  3. In light of all these match ups I notice one trend , that all are seemingly offering the hawks the high ground and were trying to negate/ defend it. So I ask who ought to beore wary of whom. ? Our form is better. Yes we we smacked in two opening games by them but if I recall there wasn't that much in last years second game. We tired and maybe had other agendas . I'm proffering to field an attacking setup and take it up to them to stop us. We need to get off the blocks early and you won't do that playing negative footy. Start Dunn like last week ... Only move if things go sour
  4. And what is Junior doing whilst all this is going on ? Junior has proved one of the most effective taggers / shut down we have.
  5. Based on ? Dunn is FF Watts CHF ...wheres Miller going ? Bail's job is vastly different from anything Frosty can do. Or do you anticpate a rejuggling ? Dont see a great need to. Why elevate Miller ..what is he going to bring to the game ?
  6. Guerra out = shame !!! lol :) Frawley CAN contain Buddy...and will give Franklin another frustratingly quiet day Bailey may alternate Bruce and Junior but feel Mcd might be tasked with Hodge. Am sure Bailey has figured out the best matchup Does Warnock get a call up ?? be interesting to see the team sheet later in week
  7. incapable of distinguishing between what Imight prefer...and a hypothetical...come on...youre brighter than that surely ? And yes I still think 9th is not only more realistic.. it is probably an outcome befitting results. But that aside.. are you able to adress the topic... ?? too hard ?
  8. Watts = 2011 = stepup / breakout / announcing himself Is requiscent upon solid injury free preseason. Actually I expect the three amigos ; Watts Scully and Trengove to really take game by it's scruff .. They'll have plenty of company too
  9. Demonstrates when Moore is Less !!!!!!
  10. Ascobar ... I happened to chat with an Aunt of Watts a month or so back and she told me then he's still coming to grips with where he finds himself, I.e. Still a little like adream. She had no doubts that next year we'll see "something" that will bring a smile to all us Demons:) Said he was struggling at years start and is a very VERY determined young man, still a bit of a boy amongst men, but that he'll adapt.... Always does it seems
  11. Maurie , was simply putting it that so much these days is about beep tank jump etc etc that it seems actually footy skills takes a back seat. Bail seems skilled.. Not meaning to question his fitness
  12. Bail for me is breath of fresh air . In an era of beep tests and the like here's a bloke with actual skills . He can kick it PROPERLY . He exhibits poise , balance AND purpose. He actually seems to know not only what to do with the ball but how to do so to advantage... And all that and a relatvie newby to AFL ranks. He doesn't play like that !! I can see his stature growing next year. Maybe Robbie could take him aside and teach / hone a few moves. It's great to watch them
  13. Frosty would be a good 1-2 year proposition for GC. A solid man to help the kids. A bit of a minder out there for them. Brad will struggle now ( really struggle) to break back into our seniors. He just bagged 10 ..... 10 !!! And that will probably still not reward him with a bump up. So he himself may pre-empt it all with a request for trade ( whilst he can ). It will beintersting to see where the club sees itself and Brad . I wish him well ... He certainly tries and tries , just for us it doesn't always happen
  14. I don't quite understand the desire of some to drop Bail. He's a great link player with a good footy head on those shoulders. For sure he hasn't won a game off his own boot ( and may never) but with each game I think he's stepping it up a little. All have off days but his aren't expensive to us. A couple more pounds, a good preseason and I think he will pleasantly surprise those not already impressed. As he gains games I'm thinking he'll back himself even more. I like his game... Yes it can improve ... And won't that be a useful bonus
  15. Apol didn't notice yours amongst the many ... By all means yours . Bloody Jurrah ... Kicked too many lol nice prob to have we didn't lose after the game . Happy Chip was again JR nemesis
  16. Much now being pondered about Collingwood, now eq fav for flag. Then there's us. Still very much in rebuild/dev mode and yet the filth have just one solitary point over us this year and lucky to boot. Roos still probably wondering where that biggest defeat came from. In the battle for the up and coming we pulled away quite convincingly. Sometimes teams just play well against cert foes and we do against the Wobblies but I suppose the question I wish to pose is: Are we a little further along our path than many would dare think ? Do we think we can really put a case that 2012 might arrive a year early ? Often in the long footy year it's younger teams that start to wilt with the more mature bodied ones coming through when it matters and again were bucking that trend. There's lots of little telltales , lots of boxes slowly getting ticked. With Collingwood firing, how do many of us feel we would fare if we met them in the finals ? ( hypo at best I'd suggest )
  17. The true colurs ? Hmm.. The general understanding within this thread was not to bag Jonesy but to simply observe and suggest there are some li itationscwithin his game (which is pretty good for the main ) His game this weekend was good, very good but he did have a bit of space. He won't get that from the more seasoned (hardened) Hawks. Decisions/disposals will be punished if late or erratic . Jones will need his A game, hope he brings it as I do like ( always have) his preparedness to take a game on. He's not stellar but can be very contributive. He can't ever rest now as there are others coming up that will challenge ... That's pretty much it
  18. For mine most likely no change is the first option. It ain't broke why fix ? But we need tounderstand that Hawks will come a lot harder and be more restrictive than the Toiges, but still who is dropped, who is elevated and for why ? Nothing jumps out to me . Beamer ought to come via magoos now if indeed he plays anywhere this coming week. Nice game Miller but who should make way ? Dees playing well together ... Be careful where you tinker. No change unless required by injuries
  19. Yes, totally concur. How salivating to take them on whenthey're not so happening. We've been on the receiving end of some forgetable games in recent times against the Sqawkers; and here we are in form and they in question. Time to exact revenge. Will be areally good measure of all things
  20. ?? He just came back.. whilst not setting the world alight played ok. Will play much beter next week for this weeks run. His poise and decisions will be ably utilised against the Hawks
  21. ahemm...cough !!!!!!!
  22. The game needs a video ref.. He can help ajudicate in scoring as well as other disputes that arise during play etc. More a multifuction role instead of two MORE peopel officiating. As called before..the goal ump was in perfect position. It was his judgement that was wrong and thsi could have been overruled by an all seeing overviewing video ref who'd have access to replays.
  23. Jones has been a stellar contributor without necessarily being a stellar player. Hes been somewhat fortunate in that weve had many opportunities for likely triers in the midfiled...til now. Hes played 88 games whilst still only 22. quite remarkable really. But again not so much a testametn to any outstanding abilities just good honest ones with a fabulous work ethic. No one questions his efforts. But effort alone wont guarantee anything in this team now. There's just too many vying for limited spots. How marvellous is that. At 88 games you wil lsort of know what a player is about whilst not always knowing if yove seen the nth degree of development. Theres still much to play in Jones' game but it will become whether or not hes the best of available contenders to carry out those roles. The bar has lifted at the club and continues to do so. Not all will follow its path successfully. Thats not failure for any particular player per se just a comentary on where this club is going. Nathan is continuing to reinvent himself somewhat...and good luck to him.
  24. Jack ( W ) to kick 3 Jurrah to kick 3 Reiwoldt probably to kick 3 Trengove a mere 30 touches in a bog or near performance. Melbourne NOT to lose from a kick after the siren. Dees by 29 points
  25. Jones is young ?? Yep..thats in his favour Jones bleeds for the jumper and gives 110% ?? yep.. totally commendable Jones'sbag of tricks is a little limited compared to some of those aroun him and soon to knock on the door. . His upside is possibly not as great as required to hold down an auto selection. He seems to be being groomed for a specialist tagger's role. Should he be able to master this then his future is indeed bright. If he doesnt then he will be lining up with quite a few for not so many positions. Its a tough gig for sure. He seems hungry and capable of learning. How capable of translating lessons to delivery ?? I dont know
