Trade Talk, Supporter Fatigue and Neeld's Catch-22
beelzebub replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
Rpfc...that(above) probably the most coherent assessment of approach posted in some time. Why anyone doesnt understand this ..... Or some of the other offerings by BH eg baffles me. We cant go from F to Z in one step but we can take a few decent strides with judicious trading and an eye (not both )to the draft. We have no 'balance' and we need thst back in order to go forward . I dont think Neeld will panic and go ultra short term in fixes. He has a plan. The club believes it to be good. Im happy to let it play out. We're a very patient lot. We have had to be. Keep the faith fellow Dees -
this ^^^^^As stated you can always renogotiate aong the journey if warranted .

I wonder if we can regurgitate all this for another 60 pages !! Am a bit over it til the seasons end. But carry on please

Ron...we cant kick a winning score because we are the cellar dwellars of inside 50"s. We have any number of people capable of kicking a goal..it giving the opportunity. The midfield is like a valve..ideally it promotes play in one direction whilst restraining it in the other. We sorta do neither currently.. its a bit of a void.. a nothingness out there. .As a result the defence is always under the pump , rather needlessly , save for a decent midfield. Yes we will get an injection of talent this draft, but in the main aside from Viney nothing wil lbe ready to roll with any great impact. We need players NOW ( or start of 2013) . We cant keep waiting around for the next great thing to appear, evolve, impact. Its NOW time...stuff all this tomoorow sh!t !! We keep doing this and get absolutely f'n nowhere. MFC..go get some READY players..as well as invest a litttle in the future..

Are we preparing to give up our draft picks?

left/right who cares ...but they, as should we, place high value on kicking. Amazing ; in a game called football !!

Are we preparing to give up our draft picks?
beelzebub replied to Hampton 22's topic in Melbourne Demons
Im not sure its too simplistic at all. I think many over complicate a rather simple thing. Two teams play. One wins. He who wins most often is more likely to take the choccies come the big game. Its ALL ultimately about winning...... hey Charlie !!! -
at least..... And often more !!!

Brad Green Injury - due back mid May

I have a gut feeling there are two basic elements to Brads continuance ( or otherwise) . One may simply be of his own calling. Time Gentlemen please etc. and/or how many players the club actually thinks ( or will ) replenish come EOS. There will be considerably more communication this time round id say. But irrepsective... keep him around to show some of these idiots how to kick a ball ffs. -

There is without doubt a course for a horse. I cant help though but feel some get trapped in this kiddy circus. All paths to Rome apparrently start with picking this or that Golden Child via a prized pick.Well it can, but it might not and thats teh rub of this. Its all specualtion often, a game of educated guesses ( well we hope a little more dont we ) . But its about evaluating what benefit best befits our (or any ) club and by what avenue. The best option for a particular pick might well be that budding beaudy of a bloke in the draft. He might be just the duck's nuts or he may turnout another nqr. Then we have in tehred corner or behind curtain number 2 a slightly used but good to a new home , honest toiler of a player whos just not in with the 'in crowd' of his current employer. Theres a theme that ought to run through lists. Its BALANCE. A healthy smattering of youngens together with developing players who alongside established bonefide footballers can actually piece together something resembling a decent and competitive ( dare I say winning ) team. So many want to load up with kids it starts to look like a kindergarten excursion. We dont want it looking like a " Happy Hollows "outing of the frame-pushers either but we have to get it right. You have to have a bunch of blokes who on the day can ALL play at their level of a bility and aspire to better. Not this continual ceremony of blooding newbies in the feint hope of striking it rich one day. Use any pick for the best outcome, matters not from where. Its the outcome that matters. -

You actually hit upon a vein of thought ive had for a while. Some seem to think its not actuallyabout footy, not actually about winning its another game entirely. Weve had it wrong. Its a new age collectors game and the prizes are draft picks and adding to a pile of "potential" stars. Of formig the best 'papaer; team that might be possibly a world beater in 3-6 years as they develop according to their draft-blurbs.We arent winning now but by crikey we might have a really decent team in a few years time if these guys come on. And as soon as a few spuds and duds rear their ugly heads its back to the drawing board and trawling for new 'potential stars' via these golden picks. One day.....one day...... but not now is the mantra of these football followers. Heres the thing. Draft picks are like money. They are totally useless unless used wisely and timely. Some people make fortunes from a $100 , some go pauper having had millions. Money/picks..... they are a means to an end..they are tools of trade. A lot of people need to stop thinking this is some sort of competition whereby the team with the most picks wins. The team with biggger score at teh end of 4 qtrs is the winner in footy. Thats all we need to concentrate on and exchanging picks for players is fine by me. After all , isnt that what you do with picks... pick a player ? -

I agree he most certainly deserves to be able to attain 250. His journey is nearly over but hes not there yet.
