  1. my favourite bit was when he talked about all the players crows have brought in from other clubs who basically form the nucleus of their side: - jenkins - lynch - betts (free agency acquisition, no less) - jacobs he forgot about seedsman, hampton, cheney and the retiring thompson too... it really was a 'we want to have our cake and eat it too' moment
  2. how about we 'settle' (and don'tcha just love that notion) with a fluke flag, and then four in a row two or three years later?
  3. converted wife into a demon when she was 15 and i was 17...21 years and three junior dees later and all i want now is some fricken success - and i'm talking hawthorn-like twenty year dynasty not some willy nilly one-off fluke premiership - to justify my selection... (and only really posting this to keep the lever run rate ahead of the watts' innings)
  4. i always prefer small negating forwards who can at least show the ability to be in the position to score i think the fact that he's under contract and not quite best 22 / too good for vfl will see him in the same position in 2018, and then it's a matter of - as you say - injuries giving him opportunity, and if he can make the most of them across his 10 games, he kicked no score once, 0.1 three times, 0.3 once, 0.4 once, 1.0 once, 2.0 once, 2.1 twice for 7.12 turn those zip goals into 1.0 twice, 2.1 and 3.2 and all of a sudden he's really contributing to the side he gets to the right spots; he doesn't make the most of his opportunities
  5. his first game back and first half against tigers were really strong then we found a way to play essentially without a ruckman his form in the vfl would have appeared to have not been compelling enough to get back into the senior side, and it's amazing really that he got nine years on a senior list i can't really see him getting picked up by another club to be honest
  6. he has several factors in his favour - his speed, his demeanour, his brashness, his ability to hit the scoreboard he has several factors going against him - his lack of discipline, his ability to hit targets by foot, his propensity for doing stupid things he's one of those classic not quite best 22 / probably too good for the vfl players he'll need to lift in 2017 to command a spot in the mfc side, but he is capable of doing so i actually thought he should have been in for the final round against the pies ahead of the poster / whipping boy watts, as his combative attitude was exactly what we needed
  7. severe case of anxiety and homesickness if you believe the rumours
  8. You think? He looks like a classic depth pick up to me I wonder if he’ll be part of the mooted Hogan to Freo (2017 trade period edition) deal...
  9. lever's season was better than tex, lynch, and arguably betts pick 27 might get the deal done now eh
  10. shoutout from toot toot! i don't care if he's our highest paid player, personally he's a very, very good player
  11. when injury-free, i believe he's never been dropped the football dept clearly has massive faith in his ability to deliver at afl-level his body has consistently let him down big opportunity in 2018 looms
  12. clearly so do their players sloane to leave as a free agent at the end of next year?
  13. afc saying vic-based club, every reporter confirming it as the dees
  14. Lever is believed to have informed the Crows of his wish on Tuesday and is certain to nominate Melbourne as his preferred destination. jake niall confirms he's requesting a trade: https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/jake-lever-officially-tells-adelaide-that-he-wants-to-be-traded-to-victorianbased-afl-club/news-story/18ed1449aba092ba0cc8661635f295cc
  15. hits more targets by foot than danger and is seven years younger
  16. Incorrect He wasn’t eligible for father-son, and if had been, they would’ve snapped him up, plus Murray was the 1958 skipper at the Pies and his grandfather - the story is pretty well known, can’t believe you could get this one so wrong Kelly, at the Crows, was overlooked as a father-son, as was Stewart ex-GW$, now at the Peptides I’m disappointed that Kennedy failed to come on - his underage football was electric
  17. ch7 adelaide was reporting the very same last night and the minute he does we would seemingly hold the whip hand in negotiations
  18. that is a pure fluff story there's so much garbage written and spoken at this time of the year that it's bordering on ridiculous all purely clickbait
  19. astbury takes the #1 forward as a rule for the tiggas, allowing rance to zone off...exactly like lever will (hopefully) do for us
  20. Tigers zone defence was incredible today They play three talls (Astbury, Rance and Grimes) plus their run and gun thru Ellis and Houli - but it’s the way their whole midfield rolls in the contest is unreal - Crows couldn’t get it past the wing at one stage If we’re playing a zone defence with O Mac, Frost and Lever plus run and gun thru Hunt, Hibberd and Jetta, it’ll be interesting to see how the rolling zone works for us next year I seriously think Lever will contribute enormously to our side as part of a zonal defensive structure
  21. Laird got a lot of the ball but didn’t do a lot with it
  22. Get him in, he’s a gun Was at the match today and was clearly the best of Adelaide’s defenders under a mountain of ball coming in; the Crows midfield was slaughtered I would hazard a guess that our six untradeable would not include players who have been brought in from other sides I would have had Hogan in there for sure, but I’m guessing the six ‘homegrown’ are: - Petracca - Viney - Gawn - Oliver - Hunt - Jetta
  23. Preseason draft picks can’t be traded Melbourne have been above board and open in trading and wouldn’t engage in such subterfuge It ain’t the Veale deal days anymore
  24. i had absolutely no faith in him coming in, and in the first half of the season i was ropeable that he was spudding it up for us behind the ball the minute he was deployed as a defensive half-forward, i think in the gc17 game up in the alice, he was a revelation - not only was he brilliant stopping the rebound back flankers but he was a weapon anywhere inside 50 his second half of the year was exemplary and i think it's safe to say that he and hibberd have not just become automatic starting 18 players, which is all you can ask for a mature body brought in for a second round pick, but absolutely vital components of the side here's hoping he continues on where he left off in the second half of the year throughout the rest of his career in red and blue
  25. So Warner is saying we are now offering Lever $900k a year for five or that the Crows are?
