Oliver is a freak and the idea of trading him for anything 'unknown' (as draft picks are) frightens me Fortunately it ain't happening

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
My Crows supporting mates rate Lever as the best young defender in the competition and think he's worth every bit of a straight swap for Petracca, or two picks in the first round minimum I don't know any Crows supporter who doesn't rate him super highly They are also cognizant of the fact that what they want for him and what they get will probably not match...

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever

Josh Kelly
it'll be interesting to see what happens to the three recent signees: - whitfield: signed til 2020 - kelly: signed til 2019 - hopper: signed til 2019 of all their 'in-demand' players only toby greene is signed on til end of next season, and he won't be a free agent - a year short - but he'll absolutely be in-demand but 2019 could be a bounty: - tomlinson: restricted free agent - shiel: rfa - buntine: rfa - haynes: rfa - coniglio: rfa - lobb - himmelberg - hopper - kelly all either rfa's or simply out of contract

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
2014 preseason - thyroid issue 2015 - injuries to both hamstrings, second one pretty severe 2016 - thyroid issue 2017 preseason - brick to the head 2017 - hamstring again played more games this year than any other year and as long as we're on top of the thyroid issue he's vital to our future imo

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
2017 pick 10, 2018 first round for lever and a second rounder (either 17 or preferably 18) is fine imo

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
hibberd was relatively 'big trade' - all australian defender quality for a second round pick! - and worked out exactly as foretold

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
if you equate it to lever being paid $670k or so across 5 years - which is what $850k under the new cba equates to, under the old cba - does that make those who are worried about his price feel any better? i'm of the opinion that if we can get it done, we get it done crows' supporting mates think it'll happen, just a matter for what - they think he's absolutely worth two first rounders, the only way i can see that happening is if something comes back the other way we were spitballing and came up with the following: lever plus rory atkins FOR melbourne pick 10, 2017 and melbourne's 2018 first rounder OR lever plus brisbane's 2nd round pick 2017 (pick 18-20, traded to the crows for charlie cameron) FOR melbourne pick 10, 2017 and melbourne's 2018 first rounder the one i would love to take off their hands is hugh greenwood, but crows fans are adamant he ain't leaving

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
i'm presuming something akin to: crows: get pick 5, lose lever + something else freo: get pick 10, a second round pick + something else (no idea what, obviously not mcgovern), lose pick 5, balic melbourne: get lever and balic, lose pick 10, something else (kent to freo?) i don't know how it would work at all i'd rather just pick 10 for lever

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BALIC
will be back in victoria next season apparently, and we are allegedly keen-ish i personally fail to see the appeal - not quick, disposal looks iffy, and if an interstate move is too hard to contemplate him working hard on and off the track, his desire to make it as a top-level afl player must be questioned

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
this is pretty much my thoughts on this kid he's a far better kick than most on here are giving him credit for being, and coupled with his intercept prowess - which went to another level again in the back half of the year, as he started marking rather than simply spoiling (and boy, when he spoils, he KILLS the contest) - he's the ideal man to have as part of a zone defence i would suspect if he is contemplating coming to us (and i really, really hope he is) then part of the appeal would be that the zone he's asked to play is pretty much tailor-made for his natural abilities

roos liked howe as a defensive intercept marker howe liked howe as a high flying goal kicking forward he can fly but he can't kick, so - as collingwood have found out - he's far better off down the back the boy came to the mfc with a cfc tattoo on him, that's how much he loved the pies - when his boyhood hero told him what it'd be like to be a star forward at the pies, can you blame him for wanting to go? he was never going to stay at the mfc when he was being offered double the wage at the franchises to head north or about the same to play for the club he clearly loved edit: anyway, it's completely irrelevant as he left the club before the thought of lewis coming to the mfc was even a possibility lewis has been a terrific acquisition and i'm confident we'll get the full three year value out of him enough talking about a player who hasn't been with us for some time! - The Importance of Jordan Lewis
