  1. i actually think it's their mids that is the biggest issue - they don't defend
  2. blues cats swans pear them gc17 tiggers footscray dockers a lot more 'even' a round than you would have thought last week would be despite a heap of upsets - at this stage i would say i only have confidence in pear and tiggers
  3. the umps are calling 'play on' really late
  4. sounds like crowds are going to be down on expectations - carlton v the filth tomorrow night only looking at around 55k capacity of the max 75k
  5. his brother runs both way and switches offensive / defensive mindset at a far quicker pace than gus
  6. yes, yes, and yes but then...no tom phillips was only up for grabs if you were prepared to pay him his full salary which is up to $600k a year for the next two - the filth weren't prepared to take on any of that as they were already set to pay $300k a year to treloar for the next three years we couldn't afford to bring phillips even from a salary cap perspective unless we could offload the likes of tom mcdonald...which now looks to be a far better option mcdonald looks as fit as he has for years and will play that wing role once brown and weideman return
  7. he's an effective inside midfielder but he doesn't defend and he's so slow in transition from offensive to defensive mindset our best player at that is viney
  8. they've set the precedent with anb and one other player - concussion = severe
  9. that's a bummer re harmes - might explain why he seemed to be stationed more forward than through the midfield in the latter stages of the game - it makes the likely change easier to potentially forecast, particularly if melksham and hibberd still need more match time in their legs... IN: viney OUT: harmes
  10. what's the injury to harmes?
  11. well that was easy
  12. less stoppages, less congestion, less tackles...less ruck contests too, you'd think, so clearances would be down too?
  13. no, but it's comparable as two local sides with relatively commensurate membership bases playing at home against an interstate side for the first time in front of crowds since 2019 port clearly have more melbourne-based fans than freo
  14. fwiw, north melbourne v port adelaide drew just over 13,000 under the roof on sunday; north have just on 36,000 members at the moment, and tbh it sounded like there was more than 5,000 pear supporters there
  15. wasn't anb given 3 weeks and because they protested it got bumped up to 4? i can definitely see danger getting this downgraded to 1
  16. and by the saturday of the game he'd revised it down to 23k expectation certainly a long way from the 45-50k that is being quoted up thread anyway, has nothing to do with clayton's contract...which i - like pert! - remain confident will get done
  17. never heard him ever mention that sort of forecast so until you can show me the quote then i think you are making it up while the so-called 'demon army' let the club down by not turning up, the only quote i saw he had re crowd figures on sen the week that whateley did the whole MoVe ThE pEpTiDeS tO tHe G narrative: “We’re expecting a really strong crowd and there’s certainly a high level of excitement about coming to the MCG for the first game and being part of it again. “There’s a lot to consider before anyone just throws up hypotheticals about moving a game like that.”
  18. eh? pert said on multiple pre-game interviews on 3aw and sen that he was hoping for 23k or thereabouts, which would be right in the standard spot for attendance vs freo, but that given no walk-ups were allowed we'd probably be missing 3-4,000 who fall in that criteria i wish people would actually listen to what was being said by the club and not simply make stuff up
  19. mitchell almost singlehandedly dragged hawthorn back from 40 points down to win by a 1 point with an absolutely blitz second half as a ball-winning midfielder he was CRAZY dominant and is integral to the hawks in the same way that oliver is for us pert on 3aw sounded very confident, very comfortable with how negotiations are proceeding with oliver's contract; i'm hoping it gets done sooner rather than later but i'm reasonably confident it will happen
  20. astbury / grimes are three premierships ahead... hopefully may / lever can match that in about three seasons' time!
  21. did scofield play for freo? he sure is barracking for em
  22. they're saying not so serious now probably pcl, so will likely miss half the season poor kid
  23. was that the game that guerra buried a then-flying cam bruce into the carpark, destroying his shoulder in the process? he was never quite the same after that
  24. he'll either stay and be one of our highest paid players or he'll go and net us two first round picks, minimum, cos he'll be signing for upwards of $900k a year to go elsewhere he's a gun and i'd rather keep him, but he needs to do the 'team things' a lot more
