Trade Targets
weed likely to stay at the mfc according to the little paper https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/moneyball-follow-all-the-latest-trade-contract-and-draft-news-across-the-afl/news-story/8397bd64736f64abd49486e491a70227 DEMONS AIM TO KEEP THEIR HOOKS IN WEIDEMAN Melbourne remains confident key forward Sam Weideman wants to stay at the club for the long-term despite being pushed out of the senior side. The agile goal kicker is out of contract at season’s end but has not yet flagged any plans to explore a move to a rival club at the end of the year. The Demons have strong belief Weideman has a bright future at the club even though he has been leapfrogged by new recruit Ben Brown and remains behind Tom McDonald and Luke Jackson in the forward line pecking order. He has been out of the team since the Round 13 loss to Collingwood but the Dees are content the contract discussions will lead to his signature even if he is yet to put pen to paper. Collingwood would be a natural fit but does not have the salary cap room to accommodate Weideman, while Gold Coast is hunting another key forward and has put its first draft pick on the table to help secure a quality marking target. Weideman, 25, has booted only three goals from five games this season and averaged eight disposals a match, having failed to grab his chance when he was in the senior side. The average form means even if he did demand a release he would not command a considerable bounty in return at the trade table. The Demons brought in Brown from North Melbourne and have been thrilled with McDonald’s output this year after failing to trade him last year. The Demons have done an outstanding job tying up their priority targets this year re-signing stars Clayton Oliver, Christian Petracca, Max Gawn and Christian Salem.

his body has broken down repeatedly with soft tissue injuries in 2019-21 - i think he's more likely to retire than be picked up by another club

It seems the versatility and upside of Andrew is going to be as attractive as that of Jackson, albeit with less exposed form?

Geelong request change of venue
i think it's onto it's fourth name change since then - hopefully alphabet soup stadium holds no fears for us in the final round of the regular season (or beyond if we're scheduled to play a fans-free 'away' final there)

one thing i did see that was notable was that, on the flight from melbourne to carrara, the sydney team was completely decked out in their official tracksuits and looked like a 'team' whereas gw$ looked like a dogs' breakfast of casual clothing it was a stark contract in professionalism

Mac Andrew
sounds like mac andrew will be a top 10 pick at this stage https://www.afl.com.au/news/647954/twomey-s-draft-team-of-the-year-merrett-2-0-athletic-ruck-enter-top-10-talks Mac Andrew's performance for Vic Country in last week's under-19 clash with Vic Metro was particularly eye-catching and sees the athletic ruckman/forward come back into the team of the year after missing several weeks through concussion. Andrew has elevated himself into being a likely top-10 selection, meaning Melbourne would be unable to match a bid on the Next Generation Academy prospect.
