  1. what's interesting is that, from my understanding, the whole point of the deal to play in the nt is that it was meant to mean that we wouldn't have to play a 'home' game at docklands that seems to have fallen by the wayside since 2025 a ruthless, rather than toothless, club would tear up the nt deal if this is the way the agreement is going to be handled
  2. because the draft process is about selling hope it's always upside, particularly when talking about 17-19 year olds it's not like the american college system, where players are (less frequently these days) becoming professional players at 22-24 after 4 or so many years of playing at semi-professional college levels not to mention that in the draft process you've got clubs, players, managers, family, junior clubs, school contacts, etc. etc. all available to 'mine' for information - that's why the order is, more or less, known about a week before the actual draft begins, certainly for the top end players
  3. that's called the 'we're sorry yr losing butters; here, have cochrane' ruling
  4. their manager is a lovely person too going friday? free gig at fed square
  5. the 'toughest draw' is calculated by fox footy, based on 2025 % of double-up opponents:
  6. afl changed eligibility criteria for pasifika
  7. 2027 is two years away, but his draft eligible year is only one season away...
  8. Corey Ah-Mu is eligible for the 2027 National Draft. This is from his ineligible brother's thread:- crikey, that's a big lump of a lad crazy to think that his draft eligible year is only really a season away...
  9. crikey, that's a big lump of a lad geuss i better create the thread...
  10. pete ryan speculates in ninefax that the broadcasters are paying up for the extra games he estimates the following on the value of advertising to broadcasters: ultimately, as long as the broadcast rights go up, dil has done his job
  11. unlikely, i would think too slow both in speed of foot and in decision making too small to make any aerial impact or in physical size to lock down on a player his disposal is routinely pretty poor he seems to be an inside mid who we've tried in multiple roles - small forward, high half forward, wing - but who really can only perform as a starting mid, and at afl level he's behind at least a half a dozen other players on the list for that role my expectation is that he won't be on an afl list after his contract with us expires
  12. get john safran to conduct an exorcism
  13. will italy finally make it again? never been the same since they took a dive over a prone lucas neill...
  14. wow, we might end up playing the peptides twice in a season... but probably once in the barossa, once as an away side at docklands...
  15. so a big-bodied midfielder, i assume?
  16. fwiw, he's already slipped in the term 'knockout final' before correcting himself i suspect it will be the bupa insurance knockout finals or something akin to that by the time it actually happens...
  17. i imagine he'll be a good amos player if he doesn't try to ply his trade at vfl level how's his younger brother coming along - i think he's eligible to be drafted through our nga due to the change in the eligibility criteria?
  18. and sparrow and chandler are still here too, obviously trengove and toumpas are a different era entirely for the dees - basically remove them from the 'sa players as busts' narrative imo the only player i imagine that we wanted to hang on to from sa who has gone home in the last decade was nibbler now wa players, on the other hand...
  19. the other thing that seems to be being ignored here is that this gives the afl two 'sudden death' games that suddenly, presumably, have no aligned broadcaster neither 7 nor dazn pay for these games, as yet, as part of their broadcast rights package, so presumably they're open to any broadcaster who wants to bid for them the afl (and the nrl) have been desperate to get streamers engaged - i personally have my doubt that an international org such as amazon, netflix, etc. would have ANY interest in a small domestic sporting competition like the afl / nrl, but this could be an easy 'in' for one of them to have a taste and see what value they can ascribe to the competition
  20. My cousin summed it up beautifully: Modern Melbourne energy would be to be 6th after 22 games, then lose at home (in the final round of the regular season), have results go against us and finish 11th on percentage. Proper MFCSS. My addition: But we traded away our first round pick
  21. edit: understand you meant the the womens can go x2 as well
  22. Unfortunately this went exactly as predicted Our draw flattered us We are a 4-8 ranked side, not top 2
  23. Our disposal is diabolical
